Yes, please.
I'd like to change my prefix to Quest or Questje.
For some reason I'm forced into "Questj" now haha. So unnecessary.
Make people able to change the prefix once every ~6 months and make them choose between 4 and 15 characters or something!

Kinda weird but my first account my emote prefix I was able to change to whatever I wanted so I changed it to my full account name which was fine. Now with my new account it adds a number behind the first 6 letters and I am not able to change it at all. When did this become a thing? All the other streamers I watch have their full name as the emote prefix...

What in the HeckingHeckingtons?! A post from 2018 and nothing? Twitch pls.

Even if its still automatic I'd like to at least get a custom prefix without having to change my username.

January 2024 and this is still a MAJOR complaint? Get it together Twitch. First:
-"thegam805" is the stupidest prefix any person or bot could have autogenerated for me. I've literally had people tell me "You should make your emote names shorter, they're too long" when one of them is literally just "thegam805SUS". It's THREE characters, but the prefix is so long that nobody wants to use my emotes. Long prefixes, or prefixes that make zero sense, are barriers to community engagement. Now to echo/emphasize other ideas I've read:
-Give us an option of like 5 auto-generated prefixes (esp because there's so much room for error & offense in cutting off parts of words or adding random numbers)
-Let us pay ONCE for a custom one pre-Partnered (you'd make so much $$)Another Idea:
-Give us a heads up of what our "randomly generated prefix" will/could be while we are changing our name. I'm tempted to do a branding shift, but I'm super concerned about what nightmare of a new prefix I'd be stuck with. And it'd be terrible for name recognition to have to change it all AGAIN in 60 days until I get a decent Branding Combo of Username & Prefix. -

I will echo TWO previous comments, and admit that I'd pay Twitch money for a chance to change my emote prefix ONE time.
"themac73" is ridiculous, and as of right now it'll stay that ridiculous until I get Partnered. This is a benefit far too simple to be 100% walled behind full Partnership. Giving Affiliates one single change is more than enough, in my view.

I will echo a previous comment, and would be willing to pay to change mine earlier than making partner.

If they want custom prefix as a reward I understand! Maybe give us a few randomly generated ones to choose from! Having numbers in the emote slots drastically pushes users away from actually enjoying the emotes, and my community has just been pushing for more 3rd party options.

Bumping this although Twitch will never give us the option to choose between a few suggestions as an emote prefix because they like to stick to a random nonsense prefix we all hate. Thanks Twitch, really warm welcome to new streamers who work for you and make money for you.

I find it completely absurd that affiliates cannot change their prefix, that they have to have one assigned to them if they update their name.
I'm sorry Twitch, but it being a "partner benefit" is nonsense. What if it gave someone a prefix that was opposite of their gender identity? This is seriously so wrong on many levels.

aesthe24 is pretty annoying. Just let me have "GEEKY", "GEEK", or "AG". It'd be nice to have this ability, man.

Yeah I really hate mine "mrsupe17". Like just let me try options and tell me if it's available or not.

I'm known for my long username but everyone calls me 0xW – and I'd be fine if Twitch gave me something like 0xwwww[Emote], but instead they gave me x0xwww[Emote].
Where does the first x even come from? Is it there because the first character is a number and the prefix needs a letter at the beginning?

As InfernalDawnn has noted, the fact that the auto-generated prefixes just grab from the start of a username means that they grab adjectives more often than they do a user's actual name.
Allowing all streamers more control over their prefix, even if it's just choosing from a wider variety of auto-generated prefixes for Affiliate, is nothing but an improvement.

InfernalDawnn commented
Emote prefix should be at least customizable or maybe even be the full Username. Like my name is InfernalDawnn for example, why is my prefix not "Dawnn" with some numbers or just straight up "InfernalDawnn". My prefix is literally "Infern349", when I go by Dawn. And where do these numbers come from? I don't understand why I can't choose it myself, or have at least a little bit of customization.

why is it fair that I was first to claim my own username & be on the platform for years but yet because I don't have a blue check I don't have the right to have my own username as my prefix without an ugly "1" after my name, there's affiliates out there streaming HOURS a day just like partners are & we don't have a right to our own prefix/username in our emotes lmao
id pay to be able to change it i wont lie.

I think currently Affiliates having to have a randomly generated emote prefix is severely irritating and, quite frankly, antiquated. I get that partners should have more flexibility, but being able to choose a prefix for emotes should be something that both affiliates and partners should be able to do.
I don't understand the point of it being locked to partners only and it should be changed to allow affiliates to change to a prefix of their choosing.

BirdmanCrowley commented
I feel as though we should at least be able to choose our FIRST emote prefix.

Justalazybum commented
The fact that affiliates still have zero say in their own emote prefixes is ridiculous. In a perfect world we could customize it how we want, but at the very least we should have a choice from a few generated prefixes and not just the one it allows us to have.
