A library of approved emotes / don't delete emotes when changing.
Lovingly lifted from the comments section of: https://www.reddit.com/r/Twitch/comments/7x9vrv/pleaseletuschangeemoteswithoutdeleting_the/
Two things -
Deleting of emotes when want to change them is a pain. It means subscribers lose one of the (few) benefits that are given to them at the affiliate level. It's just that the approval process takes so long, that not being able to use anything while waiting for approval stinks.
I think it would be great if we could have a library of previously approved emotes, so we can swap them out for holidays, etc. If you want to keep it to 3 active emotes for affiliates, that's all fine and good - even limit how often we can swap the emote (a cooldown, so to speak). It's nice to have holiday options, etc.
We’ve teased that we were listening to feedback that creators wanted a place to store all their emotes and easily swap them in and out of tiers without having to delete and reupload every time. Well, it’s finally here!
To help creators better manage their digital assets, we’re introducing the Library, which allows emotes that have been approved to be stored and easily accessible, even if they’re not active.
Library will be located on the Emotes page and will be available to all Partners and Affiliates. You can expect to access them in the next few weeks.
I agree with this as well. I didn't understand that the various Tiers meant that two of my emotes were locked behind a further pay wall. Had I known that at the time, I would have made my tier 1 emote something better. The ability to simply swap my tier 2 and tier 1 emotes would be great (both have already been approved).
PLEASE there's the drag and drop option for each tier but this should be available and easy to change to include all emote slots!!!
Organizable Emotes Section
We need to have the ability to organize our emotes. It would make chatting make easier and user-friendly.
It would be great if we as affiliates could move tier emotes up and down without the need of removing them and go through the whole approval procedure again.
Since the emotes have been approved previously doesn't make sense, we going through that procedure again.
As a new affiliate, it would be nice to have approved emotes in the queue and likely would reduce complaints and backlog. For my Subs, right now, I have to remove emotes and they have nothing while I wait for the new emote to be approved. That has me reluctant to change them, even as I improve them with new designers.
i agree with this i uploaded 3 emotes been waiting a week for any of them to be approved even if they added a "your emote is x in the que to be checked" even that would make it better tbh , its a little slow and i told my subs they will get them soon but that was a week ago ... where the **** are all the mods for this job ?????!!!!!
This would be amazing. I have a few revisions to my emotes but it took a while for the original ones to get approved for my subs. Now I dont want to take away one of the best benefits of subbing just for a tweak of an emote. :(
a thousand times this. I see you allow us to move emote order around on unlocked emotes, please extend this to allowing us to have a backlog of approved art that we can drop into actual circulation.
And right now, I want to improve the art on a couple of my first uploads, but I don't want them to go offline while I wait for approval on the same character, slightly different crop/polish.
I've been waiting nearly a week for my last upload to get approved, but have a ticket in because I think I might legit be in a weird state... but just imagine if that was the case with my "hello" that everyone uses... just OFF for a week.
Also, being able to move emotes from Bits to Subs and back again as the community wills it would be great without deleting.
One thing which I feel like would benefit streamers who have a lot of emotes, or streamers who do seasonal emotes, would be what I call an Emote Inventory.
The inventory would be a function of the Edit screen. Once the streamer clicks on the "Edit" option, a button would pop up below the "Delete" button which says "Swap." The streamer would then be presented with their Inventory of inactive emotes, which would each have a check box next to them.
The streamer would select the emote in their active emotes section, then select an emote which they would like to replace it, and then click the "Swap" button. Afterwards, the formerly Inactive emote would be moved into the Active section, and vice versa.
I've made a mock-up of what the system might look like on Twitter, and while it's a small change, I feel like it would save a lot of aggravation from folks who regularly change out their emotes seasonally, and it would allow smaller streamers to have a better time figuring out which emotes are popular with their audience.
Here is a link to my Twitter post, which outlines how the Emote Inventory might work: https://twitter.com/MegaRonTV/status/1348653294110068738
Affiliates should be able to bank a few approved emotes to switch between. It makes no sense to remove an emote for as long as a week because you want to make a change.
i ve been waiting for more than 3 weeks to get 1 single emote aproved and i steal wait for it...
So right now with the Emote system, there's a couple of problems that are rising from time to time :
1. To change an emote from a tier into another tier (say, Tier 2 into Tier 1 after unlocking the slot), you pretty much have to wait for the approval to pass through, then have the emote at the ready. This can take between a week and a month (absolutely not first-hand experience *ahem*).
2. Currently, for a smaller streamer, between 2/3rds to 2/7ths of their emotes are locked behind an impossibly large wall : the tier wall. 2nd and 3rd tier emotes are unfortunately not enough value to warrant a purchase of those Tier 2s and Tier 3s as a smaller streamer. (And no, the current tier system was NOT fixed with the flairs and other nerfs & changes, but that is another story.)
3. Giving more emotes to an affiliate would further decrease the difference between a partner and affiliate. This is a big no when it comes to "adding" emotes to smaller channels.
So here's why modulable tiers come into play.
Imagine being able to choose the emote tiers you want for your emote straight away. You submit your emote, you select a tier, you submit it. After it's approved, if you want to switch it, you select the tier, and choose "Tier 1", "Tier 2" or "Tier 3" in a small menu, not limited to any number!
So what would this entail?
1. Removing the Tier limitation for smaller streamers, letting have access to the 3 Tier 1 sub emotes straight away if they wished so, or have their emotes in the Tier 2 to 3 categories only! This would let them have more "value" in the tiers they wish to go for!
2. Removing the work to "reapprove" the same emote in tiers, removing the need to work on approving already existing emotes for newer streamers/affiliates even more than the current system we have! (Which was a great step in the right direction, don't get me wrong <3)
3. Not increasing the gap between Affiliates and Partners, but giving more control to the both of them. Rather than have affiliates hold "more" emotes, decreasing the value of Partner as a whole, the two can have their tiers customized to their will. If a partner wants to have all 20 emotes as Tier 3, they're able to do so. If they want to have all of them Tier 1, they can do so as well. They will be able to have the tier emotes be whatever they need to on the click of a button.
Hopefully this gets at least some eyes onto it, because this could benefit literally everyone.
Viewers could have more emotes to choose from in their Tier 1 subs for smaller streamers, or even more on Tier 2 and 3, which could get a little more value into them than the measly ones we currently have.
Affiliates and Partners, for the reasons aforementioned.
Twitch, by removing the need for constant emote approval on Tier changes and by having more "eyes" into smaller streamers for their emotes at tier 1, as well as having more value into Tier 2 and Tier 3 altogether for better "revenue" from their Partners.
Emote approval is instant for all accounts in good standing. This should be marked as closed at this point.
I've been waiting a full week so far and worked really ******* making mine so am really upset that my subs can't take advantage of them yet. Why we have to wait so long for sub emotes but not sub badges? Couldn't I theoretically add something just as bad for a sub badge as an emote? I don't get the logic. Is it because my emote can be used on other channels?
I'm still waiting on my custom emote to be approved. It has been well over a week.
This would definitely save twitch and myself a ton of time. If I want to move an emote to tier 1 from 2 why should I have to get it re approved?
I can attest its taking 5 business days. Just had some emote shenanigans go down on my page as well.
hey there. for me it took just 48 hrs - for single emotes or a couple at once. 2 weeks sounds really unusual.
Currently, lots of streamers use so-called "event emotes" for Christmas, Easter and other festivities.
Currently to use such emotes an affiliate needs to re-submit all his emotes he wants using, for example, the Christmas skin of the emote, he has to resubmit his emote, wait for it to get approved and then after Christmas the same thing.
My idea is to let streamers have a 2nd set of emotes slots that can get approved but are not visible to anybody.
When the event comes they can simply switch-in the event set which is already approved and after the event, they can switch back to the normal emotes.
This would obviously need more memory in the emote database but make the emote approval process faster and not put as much burden on it before and after festivities.
this is a great idea and would be a great way of getting some diversity and some freshnes into the emotes.
