Let users favorite the channels they follow or let them place followed channels in categories
Let users favorite the channels so they can easily find the ones they enjoy the most watching in the beginning of the following list / bar.
Or let them put the following channels into categories and apply sorts/filters to them.
I watched twitch for over 5 years and in this time I have followed over 3k channels. I have a really hard time to find the channels that don't have crazy numbers in the following list or in the following bar.
Also, an easy way to mass manage the notifications of both the channels online and offline that you follow, would be really awesome.

I have edited the Reddit post to sound more professional. I wish the uservoice had the option to edit the proposals.
having more control over what is shown under the Followed Channels would be idea mainly becuase it will allow you to still show support for channels by keeping a follow on them even though you may not watch them as much as others instead of having to every now and then go and un-follow a load of people just to clean up that list.
There are a lot of people that would benefit from this - not only me, and not only a person that watches a lot of channels.
If I could edit the number out of the message with a vague statement like "a lot" so more people would focus on the suggestion itself but not my experience with the platform, I would do it.
The ability to personally categorize is a great idea, especially with 3000 channels. Unlike the other comment, I don't see a fault with 3000 followed pages. I had close to 1000 CD's growing up. They didn't collect dust on the shelf. I would go through them when I was in the mood for whatever I was in the mood for.
The same way I alphabetized or genre-specified my CD collection, having some type of way to organize a follow list makes it so that when I'm in the mood for say, experimental music, I know where to look to see who's live. If I'm in the mood for platformer video games, then I know where to look - instead of sifting through hundreds of names (according to the post.)
I personally only have about 30 channels that I follow, so would it be useful for me? Probably not... however, I do see the appeal.
I am all for managing who you follow, but I don't think 3k channels is a number that is reasonable in any way.
This can lead to people just following stuff as if they'd bookmark a webpage they tell themself they will visit again, but never will.
Better features managing following channels - yay
Making the follow section just a place to horde channels - nay
