Panels do the same job
My Panels at the bottom of the stream show everything I need and have been custom made and designed. Show my schedule and links to my social media. Most of the new features I dont need.
I believe they mentioned in the seminar about this update that roughly 2% of people actually scroll below your video to see your panels. This page to me is mostly for when you're offline and someone new discovers you. Twitch in the future may be recommending you even if you're not online and that is important to have a grab as fast as possible.
Have to admit, my panels are customized and are exactly what is now suggested in the new channel page layout. Personally I have a stream plan on my offline-picture and one in my description. My panels show my social media, etc. I pesonally absolutely don't need the new stuff.
My panels do a similar job, I have a schedule, social media links, games I play and other links i like that are built to my channel brand. Just because people don't scroll down doesn't my panels don't do a similar job because they do. Also my analytics show my panels do work. I just find the new layout less customisable and doubling up on features. The only thing I like is the trailer that is nice. My other concern is how this will look on Mobile as 50% of my viewers watch on mobile. Will this work also
Panels do not do the same job. One of the purposes of a redesign like this is to make the information more accessible to a viewer, who classically speaking, usually does not scroll down to the panels at all to begin with. They didn't just decide to redesign the channel page for no reason; there is likely data on this that supported the changes.
