Mask Requirement for TwitchCon
After the surge of COVID cases after TwitchCon EU it was incredibly surprising to see the lack of mask policy for the event and makes many of us incredibly concerned about TwitchCon NA. Many other cons that have gone without a mask policy have only exacerbated the COVID cases where cons like PAX East, West etc have had much lower cases by having a strict mask policy.

We hear you and take these concerns seriously. In response to all of your feedback, we are updating our TwitchCon policies to require masks, as well as either proof of vaccination or a negative covid test. We will continue to review our health and safety guidelines along with local authorities in order to keep our community safe IRL at TwitchCon San Diego. Thank you for making your voice heard. More info is available here.

It's an absolute disgrace by Twitch to not have a mandate for the event. If San Diego Comic Con could do it then so can they. Doesn't matter if other events choose not to - Twitch can and should do better

Our organization deals with the immunocompromised population so we cannot risk having our staff being at TwitchCon despite our volunteers loving to raise funds for organizations such as our organization 1UpOnCancer and other organizations such as St. Jude's, and Extra Life. We went to events that required masks and up to date vaccinations and we haven't gotten COVID yet. However, several staff and volunteers got sick from their families who went to large gatherings unmasked and went home with the COVID virus and spread it to them. This is very problematic and they has said that they have experienced complications and issues from having COVID, they will not go to an event unprotected and risk being infected again. So we have had to sadly take TwitchCon off our list to attend for 2022 even though we love interacting with the Twitch staff, streamers, and viewers. With monkeypox cases rising here in Texas along with California and polio cases being detected in the US, we have to be proactive and put in consideration our organization's safety first.

So you’re gonna pretend we aren’t STILL in a pandemic?
By doing this you’re officially saying “ not only does twitch not care about our Streamers and Viewers, we COULDNT CARE LESS IF THEY DIED!”
…. glad the cash flow of incels is more important than supporting your own community and jeeping its employees safe….
seriously how do you expect Streamers and viewers who are at risk to attend this event? An event that is CRCuCiAL to the continued success of said Streamers hard work and viewers support …
Who are you helping by going
“ masks off” for rhe event? Whatever the answer is, it SHoULD make you feel disgusted ! -

If you have a problem with it, then don't go. It's that simple.

Does twitch not realize that they're basically telling their entire disabled/immunocompromised creator and user base that we don't matter.

There's no clearer way to loudly show your disabled/immunocompromised creators/users that you don't want them to participate and don't care about their health and safety. If you really want to be as inclusive as you claim to be, do better Twitch.

Not requiring masks & vaccination proof is ridiculous.

I, for one, will not attend unless adequate COVID protection is in place.

With the rise of COVID cases and now monkeypox being an issues the lack of any sort of requirements that would even attempt to keep attendees safe is baffling. Masks at LEAST.

This is such an easy thing to do. Plus you can make it even eaiser by supplying reversable masks with every ticket, one side with people channel name and another plain.
Such an easy item that people will be able to keep using after the event as well. -

ISTG Twitch just keeps finding new ways to **** of their community. Require masks at the very least!!!!!!

given that a fair number of streamers are in some way disabled or chronically ill, the lack of a mask policy or testing requirements is an absolute slap in the face of the creators that keep twitch alive. Please mandate masks, and negative covid tests in order to have access to twitchcon.

PROTECT YOUR CREATORS. Nothing, NOTHING is worth risking your creators’ lives. This is so simple - cannot believe this isn’t already a mandate! The pandemic is not over!!! #dinkfam #feralfam

Please mandate masks and/or take people's temperatures. People will, without a doubt, risk others' health and safety if it means getting into twitchcon. People have been doing it all year at other events and getting others sick. It would be incredibly irresponsible and careless on the staff's part to let it happen at their event. Especially at one of the most looked-forward-to twitchcons since the pandemic.

Please protect our beloved streamers and require masks. Additional measures good as well such as negative recent tests. Thank you.

a negative test result would indeed not be the worst idea, but a vaxine mandate with the current mutation will have 0 impact on the spread, the current mutation has such a high infection rate that the vaxine almost makes no diffrence in catching the virus or not, it does reduce the symptoms and the effect the virus has on your body, but is not a prevention from getting or spreading the virus, as clearly shown in countrys with a vaxination rate of over 90% that are still recording record high infection rates (not hospitalization rates).
so please, if you are asking twitch to enact pollicy's, don't ask for proof of vaxination/negative test result, just ask for a nagative test result.

Seriously? The fact that we even need to vote on this is so dumb. This should be a given. It’s obvious that this company cares more about revenue than the health of its streamers. Do better

Look, conventions before Covid were already sketchy at times, with colds, flu, and the generic "Con Crud" being passed around consistently. There's absolutely no reason why a mask and vaccine policy DURING A PANDEMIC is not enacted. This is putting the health of not just streamers, guests, and vendors at risk, but also the employees of the convention center, and their family and friends. Do better.

PLEASE get people who attend to at least wear a proper mask (a surgical grade one or better, N95 is best). Don't turn this into a super spreader event. COVID is still here, the pandemic is NOT over and won't be for a little while yet.
