Mask Requirement for TwitchCon
After the surge of COVID cases after TwitchCon EU it was incredibly surprising to see the lack of mask policy for the event and makes many of us incredibly concerned about TwitchCon NA. Many other cons that have gone without a mask policy have only exacerbated the COVID cases where cons like PAX East, West etc have had much lower cases by having a strict mask policy.
We hear you and take these concerns seriously. In response to all of your feedback, we are updating our TwitchCon policies to require masks, as well as either proof of vaccination or a negative covid test. We will continue to review our health and safety guidelines along with local authorities in order to keep our community safe IRL at TwitchCon San Diego. Thank you for making your voice heard. More info is available here.

Not having a masking policy right now at any con is incredibly...I am going to say it, stupid in light of the world we currently live in. I know of many creators who were going who are now scrambling to cancel plans, or rally their communities and pointing them to posts like this to try to enact change. It shows a lack of care towards your community, and it shows frankly ignorance. This won't be forever, but for at least for 2022...please show that you care.

Even before Covid, conventions have been notorious for spreading viruses like the cold and flu. Masks are an easy and simple way to ensure everyone’s TwitchCon experience is safer!

This would be my first TwitchCon attending and I would like to go and not worry about putting myself or others at risk. I would make sure that I'm safe, but not including these safety precautions is making it to where others aren't making sure that we aren't safe. I really hope that you reconsider, especially since San Diego Comic Con did.

Many of the Twitch creators that I follow and cherish have compromised immune systems. I am 3x vaccinated against Covid and just found out last night that I have it right now. I would be crushed if I were to have come to TwitchCon and turned out to have caused any of the people I love so much to get sick and potentially risk their lives. After the TwitchCon EU Covid surge, to not follow up with mask mandates and vaccine requirements for NA is completely irresponsible.

I was really excited to connect with friend again in person but none of us are willing to accept the risk. Once again Twitch has decided to do the "absolutely bare minimum required" even though it puts your community at risk. I've now canceled my hotel, refunded my flight, and won't be buying a ticket. Hopefully Twitch will learn from all the feedback but its too late for this year. You have lost my trust on what was supposed to be a "welcome back to in person."

Masks should be required. Not just because of Covid but to help against any airborne contaminants.

Twitch's decision to forgo health and safety measures has ensured that I will be avoiding Twitchcon this year and during the entirety of the pandemic in this sense. Along with the other streamers in StreamerHouse we are staying safe and avoiding this potential super spreader event

I managed to narrowly escape Covid for 2.5 years while going to cons that had strict mask/vaccination/health check requirements. The more recent B4/B5 variant however is very contagious, bypassing the current vaccines so I caught it back in June locally(outside and not even at a con). The least you can do right now to ensure our safety is enforcing negative tests, masks, and good hygiene/sanitation. And everyone else, if you feel sick, obviously stay home and don't risk spreading to the immunocompromised.

I was planning on using a TwitchCon trip to see my family in California. Now I absolutely would neither want to put my family at risk for heightened exposure due to reduced safety regulations, nor feel responsible for contributing to an unsafe working situation for convention staff. Comic-Con had mandatory masking, proof of vaccination or negative COVID test. Why won't TwitchCon?

I can’t justify paying over $1k for a trip that might make me stop streaming (my current job) for a week of resting from catching COVID. There NEEDS to be some sort of minimum safety requirement for an event this huge

My friends and I have been to every TwitchCon since the beginning and it's been one of the most fun experiences of my entire life but if masks and vaccines are not required at the convention we will absolutely not be going. I really hope big creators and artists push back on the lack of requirements because obviously Twitch doesn't care about its users, only the money they can make from us.

Glad I chose GenCon over TwitchCon for my gaming event this year. It's more affordable being in Indianapolis, and safer since they will have mask and vaccination requirements.

masks AND vaccinations should be required, this pandemic has barely been taken seriously which is why we're still dealing with it after two years. and it would be good to tell staff about monkeypox too.

Whilst we're at it, let's make it mandatory to wear full Hazmat suits

No safety guidance, really?

With not one but TWO possible vectors of disease making its rounds, it's absolutely hazardous to the health of all con attendees to be not requiring masks and vaccination proof. It's irresponsible of TwitchCon to force artists who need the revenue from these conventions to survive to deal with possibly getting sick, and shocking when conflu is already so common.

comic con literally just required masks and vax/negative covid test results. it’s ridiculous not to have safeguards in place when we KNOW covid surges after big events like this. it’s an easy requirement and will keep everyone so much safer. please.

Twitch absolutely needs to have vaccination and mask guidelines at the very minimum, otherwise they're going to see and be responsible for a massive Covid outbreak. SDCC was able to pull off their event and also run minimum guidelines without issue at the same event center. It's also an incredibly minimal effort to do so as well on twitch's part.

You can't donate $1,000,000 to AbleGamers then not require masks & vaccination proof as the disabled/immuno-compromisedcommunity makes up a sizable portion of your viewers and your creators and even your Ambassadors
If ComicCon can do it,I'm sure there is room in your budget for extra entry greeters to check vaccinations and police the venue floor.
