Bad Raid Requirements
I just noticed the recent changes to people setting raids after a stream how the requirement is now pushed to minimum of 5 viewers and over. I have to say this in REALLY bad, because this hurts smaller streamers who might not have that many viewers watching their channel, only to see their own raids turn into hosts instead. This essentially cripples streamers ability to be noticed when they raid someone after finishing a stream, it was already bad enough when you crippled it so that people can't raid/host channels from 1 viewer, which is fine I guess, but to change the requirement to 5 viewers is bad overall.
I want to recognise the people who raid into me even if their viewership isn't that big, I don't want to see someone just show up as a host to my streams when they set a raid. it just makes their raids seem less significant. This is something that needs to be reverted to how it was before.
I keep seeing stupid changes like these being made on Twitch that make no sense at all without any careful consideration of what it ends up doing to streamers as a result. Case in point like how you were gonna force mid-roll ads on streams, and immediately people pointed out how bad that is.
Hey guys! We really appreciate the feedback that has been brought forth in this thread and just wanted to update you a little bit on what is going on.
This change was originally made to guard against raid bot attacks. While smaller raids are currently viewable in activity feed in the dashboard, we are working on a solution that treats raids equally while guarding against abuse tactics.
It’s obvious they don’t care about any streamer that ain’t “partnered” just a bunch of stupid new **** to hurt small streamers and a bunch of crooks that won’t change it cause like I mention twitch don’t care unless you’re “partnered”
Twitch reply to a user saying this intentional.
This wasn’t me, so I’m saying this as a third party:
I hope they change this! It’s incredibly unfair!
All raids should count since there's an achievement called "Raiding Party" for "Raiding 100 times with 2 or more raiders" - what's the point anymore?
As something that was always a manual "If you want to ....you can change it" type of thing, i didn't feel like it was very necessary to change it around and have it auto-forced. As a smaller streamer, I do like raiding other people even with a low view count and they'd like to know that I've actually raided them instead of seeing my raid copy pasta message and being confused as to why they haven't seen anything and then feeling sorry for me and apologizing for something completely out of their control. My point is....Change it back, if anyone wanted it changed they can always do it manually...
This is horrible, why would they change this. Small streamers love the small raids, and the raiders feel good by doing it. This will damage the small streamer community
I raided my friends recently. People I know allow raids and have raid notifications but I had 3-4 people coming with me and there wasn't a single notification on the Twitch chat and didn't provide a notification on their end as well. This is disappointing, I would like to show my support to others regardless of my size.
Viewers who are raiding with small parties are being undermined here as well. Why bother doing it if they won't see the alert?
Fact is, there are facilities available so you choose either who can raid you or the minimum party size to trigger an alert. If partners are complaining about raids, they're clearly not using the facilities properly or are unaware of them at all, and I really hope this isn't the case
Completely underhanded sneaky way of Twitch practically telling smaller streamers they don't matter.
If you insist on implementing a threshold, at least MAKE IT OPTIONAL in our own account settings. I get that some Partners don't want the "spam", but I'm sure the majority of Streamers on your platform would rather see and acknowledge every Raid no matter how "small".
this is just stupid thing to do. shows small streamers that they dont matter
All raids count and all should give a notification.
Maybe add an option to turn off notifications from smaller raids if needed but don’t make so they don’t show at all.
Stop discriminating against smaller streamers.
Please leave the content creators with the control over their CHANNEL!! Do not auto shove requirements on us without giving us a way to configure them to the settings we want.
100% agree! Disabling small raids only hinders small streamers. Could there be a configurable setting to pick your channel's raid minimum threshold maybe? Let the large streamers set it to 5 but allow the rest of us to keep it low?
Raiding, even with few viewers, is a critical part of engaging with fellow streamers and building a community on Twitch. I personally LOVE getting tiny raids because it shows that the person was thinking about me! I LOVE sending tiny raids because it's a way to show support for others!
Twitch team, please remember that Twitch shouldn't just be about the huge streamers with thousands of views. The rest of us are here too :)
Certainly the people I've raided into when I've been under the threshold have all stated they'd rather have known about it, and have turned to ensuring they always have the activity feed open when they wouldn't have had to before.
It puts smaller streamers like myself off raiding at all, when prior to the change it helped grow my audience and got me to affiliate in the first place. And now I always have the activity feed open on my phone; I want those smaller raids to get the attention they deserve, even if it means doing a raid alert manually.
