Don't Punish New Streamers
SO for a new person like myself to stream with 1 viewer for hours just having fun it cripples my ability to get affiliate because i have streamed for 80 hours with one viewer getting to 3 average viewers means I would have to get over 10 viewers to bring the average up within a 30 day period I wish it was based on viewers per stream rather then viewers per hour

I agree totally.
I've given up on being an affiliate because of this requirement. It does not register or recognize everyone watching my streams. I've advertised, sent emails to people, posted on Twitter, FB Instagram and still this requirement is elusive for me. -

Couldn't agree more this sucks!

We are being punished. Twitch EXPECTS you to get 3 people to stay in your channel for exactly 7 hours if you are trying to "beat/affiliate". Impossible w/o cheating. I've been streaming on multiple accounts over the last 5 years, and I've NEVER gotten 3/hr for 7 hours straight legit. And I won't, as I am a CASUAL Streamer, who streams in the EARLY AM. Yes, tell me again how networking helps. I've used Twitter, Insta, FB friends, FB groups, all to no avail. Yet my channel can be constantly bombarded by bots spamming "their" account holders bs, links to fake bs, whispers from aholes saying "pay to win", so on so forth, and NOT ONE of them count, as they are only in the channel for 3 seconds. So, wt.f does a casual, early am, R/L job having person supposed to do to get affiliate, w/o having their account thrashed? Yes, I do know, I had an account that you Pistachio, "keep" streaming. That account was up to 300 hours a month, and @ .1/3 Active Viewer count. THIS is what we want fixed. Twitch's math has to be "cheated" to get around it. Some can cheat, others(women who look good) can beat it quickly. Those of us ugly, casual, early am, off "prime" time, can't even get 1 view... Let alone, if you're a CONSOLE user(ie. no cam, no PC bs, no "perks"), it's even worse. Need I get into that??? Twitch needs to rethink this....I mean come on. I've burned 3 accounts into the dirt, and my newest is going down swiftly also....

Just keep streaming. You’re not being “punished”. Although it might be hurting your viewing average temporarily, think of it in the long term. Streaming more often and more frequently will always help. You might not make affiliate that month thats okay - but that viewer might tell their friends and then next stream you’ll get 2. Then 3, etc etc.

I think the point a lot of commenters are missing is that it is annoying for new streamers to have to choose between streaming a lot for fun, or only streaming when they can optimize their views.
Another possible solution would be if twitch averaged the viewers in the busiest 30 (or another number) hours of streaming to meet the qualifications. -

facts I've had many 3 avg viewer streams but that past one view streams just ruin the avg

yea getting to an average of 3 is super annoying bc instead of counting per stream, it counts the average in the 40 PLUS HOURS I'VE STREAMED

So, hit all marks required for the month. Had multiple Twitch Emails saying I had "3, 5, 7, yada yada" Viewer counts. Yet when I open up my dashboard and check, it still says I only have 1.5/3....WTF???!! Why is this so broken for PS4 console users???

So much this, I have streamed 25 days in a row hit 11 viewers earlier today and can't get affiliate because I have an average of 1.72 viewers.

post on other social medias, promote your streams, tell people about yourself, be unique, mess around with customization of your channel, etc. Big streamers didn't get big by chance they put in their work.

i agree i have been grinding the average for months i have everything else but the 3 average is just a Paine and i am getting to the point of leaving twitch possibly for fb gamming i am trying to make a life out of this but it seams harder than dirt to accomplish affiliate due to the 3 average you need in a month

JohnWickHitman you sure seem to have a giant superiority complex for some with a movie character as their channel name.

Stream less, reach out on Twitter, promote your stream.
I had the same issue, 1.89 viewers at 80hrs streamed. I stopped streaming everyday, promoted my steam and reached out to people more to engage my profile.
Stop streaming for a few days and let the hrs decrease and then return. -

i have 1 follower and avg of 1.6 after about 59H 45M of streaming and at 577 total views :) 301 live views what ever that means.. ya.. you're all doing alot better then i am granted i stream without a web cam. correction ive streamed ( according to achievement) 106 hours and it seems only having an avg of 1.6 viewers is holding me back >.<

I'm sorry, but this is BS. Those of you saying stream @ different times...really, you have no ******* clue what I do in my day. I stream the same everyday, as that is the only time I can stream. Not my fault to many ****** viewers think that the only thing they can watch is some twatwaffle running round spamming bullets at another twatwaffle. I stream real games, that require more thought processing, and NO, I don't sit there giving my stupid ******* opinion about politics, the game, or any of that other horse **** those "big" ******* ******** streamers do. Do you go to a movie and like people talking incessantly?? Then WTF would you want that **** in a stream??? STFU, play the ******* game.....Quit viewing a channel for a split second and leaving "because" you think it's boring. Maybe you would find out the game is actually a good one....This "3" count needs to be tossed and something else used!!! ******* TWITCH is becoming a POS, as it's kills small streamers faster than it makes them....Yet, ******* streamers can stream copyrighted material, football games LIVE, and not be "COPYRIGHT" infringed, and make the quota easily.....Small streamers need help...JMO, ************ if you don't like it...
