Getting affiliate should be about getting more followers and not more viewers
set the affiliate program just to 50 or 75 followers because twitch has a massive problem with correct viewer count, I have had like 20 people watching my stream at one time before, all chatting at the same time, and it only counted for like 2 or 3 of them.

i had such a case yesterday, the viewercount is the only thing left for me becomming affiliated, and yesterday i had an amazing stream with an avg of 2-4 people all the time, at least that's what my viewcount said, the statistics afterward told me i had an overall avg of 1.5 and some times of the stream even below 1???

@krissatiel theres a difference between twitch being broken and having a down day. I have multiple days were i have 12+ people watching and talking but only says 1 viewer or barely counts some of them. Today alone i had 16 viewers all talking and new but said 5-7 the whole time. it makes no sense and when over 100s of people have this problem its definitely from twitch's side. I've sent in multiple support tickets and the one they finally answered actually apologized cause they know their own detection system is BS. They answered saying lurking/muting the stream also counts as a view before you mention anything about that.

While I can understand those numbers, figures etc are there to help you build a community for being an affiliate, what I don't get it is why it IS broken. Yes it is broken.
Yesterday, I had 2 friends (no they are not bots! friends.) They both logged in and viewed my stream just to help me at least to protect my minimum 2 views average. Yet, all night long, I only got 1 viewer. Only 1. There is definitely something wrong with the viewer counter or the algorithm beneath it. Or they do this on purpose to make it harder for new affiliate candidates.OTOH, I do not agree with the follower number to be the main threshold which can be abused easily and in most cases seems arbitrary. I mean there are lots of people how have hundreds of followers yet with very low average viewers which makes it meaningless to be an affiliate since this whole system depends on real-time viewership. 3 AV and 50 followers might be perfect limits yet, please fix the real-time view counter.

Now that most streamers can pay to become affiliate through monster cat I think that you guys should make it eqsier to become affiliate with a set follower count since 3 concurrent viewers is hard to accomplish for low viewership streamers.

yes, lower view average like 2, and make followers like 100-150

It is your average viewers, not the total amount of views u get in order to get an affiliate u have to have an average of 3 viewers which means that you need at least 3 viewers each stream not just for one but for each stream.

What he is trying to say, which was also happening to me, is that when you do a stream and you have like 5 or x number of viewers when that live ends, there are times that they do not tell you the average of that stream well and when you count monthly you are already losing for that stream that the average counts wrong. Or sometimes there are for example 5 people talking or interacting and the viewer counter does not go up from 1 or 2

also, ive discovered using streamlabs obs helped my view numbers to be more accurate, its slightly delayed but works consistently

I think this is less of a follower fix, and more of a pushing new creators to the top of searches and browse so people can discover them and they can begin growing their channels

It is based on hours streamed, not max viewers in a stream. I have an average of about 20, but my path to partner is only at 16 because sometimes I have a down day. It makes sense, and I understand why twitch uses this system. A 3 average isn't hard if you network and make friends. Just have fun and stop complaining and expecting everything to be handed to you and you will get there.

I'm of the opposite mind set, I believe they should increase the average viewers to 5 over 30 days. Increase the followers to say 150 instead of 50 but those are mininum criterion that I feel so many people wouldn't hit and thus Twitch would lose out on money from subs and such. It's an okay, and very easily achievable target.

follow for follow will break that mechanic..... its about building a community where people genuinely want to watch you.

I disagree it should be not just about streaming but should be about streaming consistently.

I totally agree on that twitch need to fix the active viewer Count, I get 6/10 viewers per stream but it only says 10 I even made a new twitch account and got friends to login to steam and other accounts. 10 people logged onto the stream but showed as 3??? I’ve been streaming for about 2 years still trying to get Affilate! Twitch need to sort it out

Good luck to you all. Twitch math is fun. Even when themselves come into your stream. I have been streaming for three years just for an outlet but the viewer count will stress you out. Twitch can not count. They do nothing about the bots. They do nothing to help you as a up and coming streamer. I have reached out to them for 2 years now and still have not had a response but yet twitchshowcase still shows up in the streams. I have even sent screen shots of bots trying to offer view to me but they are still not banned. Good luck too you all on them caring about you at all.
