my username is "thedesec" and instead of "thedesec" I was assigned "thedes27" as prefix. looks great, thanks. I think it's really silly that we can't change the prefix so something, as long as it is free. I'd even understand if a partner wanted to "take" a certain prefix that is in use by an affiliate.

I agree with the concept of allowing affiliates to have at least some control over our prefix. Honestly, I feel that Twitch has taken it a little too far by forcing a prefix upon us that is beyond our choice, especially one which applies to the identification of our channels through our emotes. If you really want our channels to grow then please Twitch let us put in a prefix name that actually fit's our channel name; Such a name will definitely help our channels grow into becoming a partner. This is a much better option than waiting to give us the help we need to grow until we are all-ready titans on your platform.
♥♥ Nurture your new members, and we will rise to the occasion and surprise you! ♥♥

I would gladly pay a small fee for updating my emote prefix, or being able to shorten it. Having to wait until being partnered is just a bit obnoxious.

I agree, affiliates should be able to change their emote prefix at least once or even better once a month

While I get that gatekeeping the prefix is a way to prevent abuse and bypass filters, if the emotes have to be approved anyways, why can't that be one of the vetting perimeters? Once selected as a prefix, make it so that affiliates can't change it for 6 months to a year. It's meant to be tied with their branding, but if they're changing it constantly, then they have no branding so they should be the ones who should suffer for it and should make them rethink their branding more carefully.
I know I'm new to the affiliates program but I didn't think it actually was gatekeeped to this extent. I know this has more to do with the technical aspect of it, such databases updating and bogging down the system etc, but that could be resolved by doing a once-a-day (per region) database update for this specific change. -

we would all definitely benefit from being able to brand ourselves with our usernames. myself, like others in this thread, cant do that with random numbers generated for us that aren't even in our usernames. "dispat6" is HORRIBLE as a prefix. I know a lot(if not all) of others will agree. we all worked hard for affiliate status, and some are grinding towards partner...let us have this one thing!

Mediumraresteaks commented
This is exceptionally unfair as some streamers get a part of their name that fits well, while others have partially cut off names or even worse...Numbers!

I know Twitch probably wants to keep emote prefix customisation exclusive to Partners, but the current auto-generation rules for Affiliates are just ungodly awful. For example, with my username MusicSounds1011, the first 6 characters are "MusicS" and so I get the prefix "musics17". Someone with, say, the username "justbill" might get the prefix "justbi27", which in no way reflects their brand.
It would be great if Twitch allowed more options to prefix generation, especially to new affiliates who get dumped a prefix that means literally nothing, e.g. allowing Affiliates to choose 3-12 adjacent characters in any part of their username as their prefix. In my case, I would be able to choose, say, "music426" or even "musicsounds" over "musics17".
The current system just benefits people with usernames that split after the first 6 characters, e.g. Manhal\_IQ\_ (now a partner but his auto-generated prefix back when he was still affiliate was already "manhal"), making it unfair to others with a wide variety of usernames.

facing same problem, my auto-generated prefix is musics17 which is just horrible, like at least let me choose from a few auto-generated options

Yeah please let us choose, i change my name and now you only propose me : "lemoin2" Please twitch let us choose our prefix. with my old name it's hard for people to relate my emote to me !

So i got applied to affilate status and got "elrott" prefix. it's awkward. theoretically i can change username and get option to select new prefix, but it's look like cheat. better to allow to setup it manually for first time. i even didn't know that i should think about first 6 letters in nickname, cause them became emote prefix

I want to choose my own prefix, I don't want to have to wait until partner to get that. It's such a strange thing to gatekeep behind such a big wall. Right now my new prefix that Twitch has made for me is... kittyk134. That sucks and I won't be using it, however it means I'm stuck using a prefix I had over a year ago that isn't even my name.

Even if our prefixes have to be unique, why can we not change to part of our name - as Sukadia pointed out. Having "beesqu" as mine is so awkward... I also don't understand why it needs to be unique at all. What's the actual likelihood that I meet AND follow/subscribe two people with the same prefix ONTOP OF their emotes having the same name (For example of two "beesqu" prefixes have an emote titled "gg") So shouldn't it just then be organised by alphabetical order and in my own list of emotes then just give one of them a number or letter after?
In this example one emote gets to be locked as beesquGg and the other as beesquGg1 or beesquGg_1 like file names on computer when two files of the same name and type exist

please twitch let us, as affiliates change our emote prefix!! i got a horrible random prefix which has nothing to do with my username or brand. sempli9 is not what i want, i would much rather us be able to customize our own prefix EVEN if we are not of partner status!! please, i know so many people do not like their random generated prefix, its not just me!!

Sukadia commented
I assume it's in place because emote prefixes have to be unique, but I say you should be able to change your prefix to any part of your username *at least* for affiliates. For example, I can have "suka" or "kadia".
Right now I got "sukadi1", which is not only confusing with the i and 1, but the same length as my username "sukadia". It couldn't have just picked "sukadia"? I know username generation will always be unwanted, so allow us to pick a section of our name to use.

I assume twitch don't actually care, but I cannot see why when you get affiliate your not asked for a prefix initially then locked out of being able to change it till partner, rng is the stupidest mechanic possible in this case and not even a difficult change to make.

Il serait bien de permettre au affliliés de Choisir au moins 1 fois apres leur affiliation le prefixe de leurs émoticones.
Car certaines fois le préfixe automatique est vraiment incohérant.Mon Pseudo : Mlle_Bellule Prefixe : mllebe
J'aimerais pouvoir le modifier en : Bellule , et ce sans pour autant changer le nom de ma chaine -

Hello !
For Twitch Affiliate should be 1 time free changing prefix of emotes. At this moment we are getting automatic generated. Its rly sad for new affilate and theirs viewers if you need to write "dn25somthing".

Es wäre schön, wenn man als Affiliate einmalig seinen Emote Präfix selbst aussuchen könnte.
Man wählt einen, der wird durch Twitch überprüft und man ist glücklich.
Die automatisierten Emote Präfix sind meistens sehr lang und unübersichtlich.
