Improved Editor Role

A channel editor is probably the biggest role any streamer can give a person, but the channel editor can't do as much as they should be allowed to do. A channel editor should be able to do more than just create highlights, run commercials,etc. When a person is promoted to a channel editor, that means the streamer gives them their ultimate trust. So what should an editor be able to do, but can't at this current time? Here are some ideas:

  • Moderate the moderators | Just as any other broadcaster can, a channel editor should be allowed to purge/timeout/ban moderators who are not channel editors. They should also in turn, be able to add/remove moderators. There may be cases where chat gets out of hand with not only the viewers but also some moderators, instead of the broadcaster having to deal with it, the channel editor should be able to so that the broadcaster can continue with his/her stream and not have to worry about chat drama.

  • Edit panels | There are times where streamers want to edit their panels, but either don't have the time to or don't know how to do something in particular. A channel editor should be able to edit the panels the way the broadcaster wants. Maybe there was typo a that looks unprofessional or an outdated piece of information that needs fixing.

  • Submit artwork for partnered streamers | A new emote slot opens up for a partnered streamer, and maybe the streamer isn't in a position to submit a new emote. Why not allow the channel editor to do so for the streamer? That way the new emote comes in right away instead of having to have people wait for a new emote.

There are other things that could be added to. Along side with this, an editor should have a badge of recognition. That way people know they aren't an ordinary mod.

    Why can editors delete complete VODs but can't delete clips?

    If, from Twitch's perspective, editors can be trusted with managing the VODs they also should be trustworthy to manage the channels clips, right?

    I know they are, I just wanted to give a specific list of everything I think an editor should be able to do, just in general.

    I just want to mention that making highlights and managing the video content (not clips) is already available.

    Go to your Dashboard -> Preferences -> Channel -> Channels you can manage as editor. There you can find the Dashboard with some options available.

    I'm the person who made the initial post 4 years ago. I still think that the editor role really needs a rework. Editors should be able to do the following:

    - Make highlights
    - Delete OR edit clips (maybe it wasn't quite clipped right and needs a little bit more)
    - Edit Panels
    - Edit Stream Information
    - Make Highlights
    - Run Reruns
    - Host other channels on behalf of the streamer
    - Adjust Channel Rules and Points
    - Submit emotes on behalf of the streamer
    - View stream analytics
    - Change the Stream Overlay
    -Edit the Auto-host list
    - Export highlights or past broadcasts to other platforms (like YouTube)

    Again, the editor role should be treated as the highest trusted position and the editors should be able to do their jobs, and right now I don't think they can on Twitch

    As an Editor, I want to:
    - Change the scene currently in use as the streamer often forgets to and takes an extended period of time to notice their on the wrong scene, impacting viewers.

    - Edit the list of Auto-Hosted streams (I can already manually host - this seems like an omission on the original user story)

    Just as this post suggest, and others have requested prior, I believe this deserves a bump! Modding for multiple channels and having to try and explain things, when someone doesn't know how back-end things work, makes things harder for the editor/mod and the broadcaster. Helping make things seamless as possible is the way I had thought Twitch was trying to make things...

    This would DEFINITELY help many!

    As an editor and moderator for two channels, it would help immensely more than anything else if I could delete clips that were not my own. My streamer tends to be busy more often than not, and being able to delete clips would help me and my fellow editors to streamline the moderation of clips.

    This needs a bump. Editors should be able to edit panels, delete clips/VODs, and they should definitely be able to mod/unmod or VIP users. This is becoming a requirement in more than one stream for me.

    Edit: Editors should also be able to edit the stream rules section under moderation.

    For the people wondering how to access other peoples dashboards your already and editor for. Go to your own dashboard- channel- permissions- channels you can manage as an editor and then the channel you want. this literally took me so long to find.
