[Beta] Moments
Moments is a new way to celebrate channel lore and reward viewers for being part of the hype, live. With the click of a button, you can now turn major moments on stream into a commemorative chat badge that viewers will receive if they were watching live. The more moments a viewer takes part in, the higher badge tiers they unlock. Plus, newcomers can get to know your stream by clicking into these badges and viewing the defining moments of your community.
We look forward to hearing your feedback and if you have any questions please refer to our help article (https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/moments) Please note that this is a beta and is only available to a select amount of creators currently.
Hello all,
We're shutting down Moments on October 5, 2023, as a result of limited use from the Twitch community. This will allow us to focus on bringing improvements to Chat, Clips, Discovery and Stream Together to help more streamers succeed on Twitch.
Although you'll be able to keep the badges received during the Beta (plus the Clips created in association with Moments), the Clips will no longer be specifically tied to the Moments badge they were associated with. The ability to create new Moments in the Creator Dashboard and the “Community Moments” shelf on the channel page will be removed.
Thank you all for participating and the feedback.

It's okay, but I think there should be a higher number of moments available to give.

Hi, some of my viewers cannot get the moments' badge. The notification just didn't pop up. My channel id is yb57152. Please fix it, thank you.

Created a moment as a mod on behalf of a broadcaster who was streaming from mobile and unable to do it. The moment was therefore late and missed the main moment. The broadcaster is unable to edit the moment (within the 24h window - which is described in the help article), and I as the mod can't do anything with it as it just appears to me as a clip I've created, so I can only amend the title

Please, Make Typing in Chat be a Second Option to Claim "Moments"
I was watching one of my favorite streamers today where 2 seperate Moments occurred. However, I (and other viewers) did not always get the pop-ups to claim each Moment. These were the very first 2 Moments ever for the stream.
The 1st Moment that happened I, and many other viewers, really had no idea what to expect. I never got a pop-up to claim it but almost everyone else did. People were typing in chat to "claim the Moment quick" and i'm like typing back "how, i don't see anything. i don't understand. what are you guys talking about?"... I was probably watching the stream for a good 5 hours without refreshing at this point. Needless to say, I did NOT get the Moment or the Badge for this.
When the 2nd Moment happened later on, I had refreshed the page literally like 2 minutes before it happened. This time I DID get the pop-up and I was successfully able to claim it... BUT there were other viewers confused and asking how to claim it, literally while the Moment claim timer was still counting down. They never got the claim pop-up and missed the Moment, even though they were typing in chat.
If this is going to be a feature, Twitch should just make it so if a viewer typed in chat 3 minutes before the Moment happened or 3 minutes after the Moment happen, then they should just get the Moment claimed automatically, and if they haven't typed in chat they can either click the button or type in chat during the timer to claim it. This would make it work much better!
Anyway, now I have to live with the fact that I didn't get the very first Moment of one of my favorite streamers, due to what seems to be a buggy implementation of the claim system. Please, I beg of Twitch to change this and make typing in chat, 3 minutes before or 3 minutes after, also be a method of claiming Moments.
Thank you.

Definitely need to have a longer claim window!! As well as it possibly being automatic as many people are doing other tasks in the back ground
We should be able to claim moments after stream and have the viewers at that point be gifted that moment

1. The claim time is WAY too short. Make sure people have a minute to claim the badge. Also make sure it pops for everyone, it did not in my chat.
2. There's no way to turn off Moments. Please make sure there is.
3. There's no way to remove a moment, for example if it would contain copyrighted material that was caught by mistake. < FIX THIS ASAP
4. Make sure we can edit the clips from a longer VOD clip. seeing 1,5 minute from when the moment was created is too short. -

Cool feature! Would be great if on the channel page we had a page that looked similar in style to what we have in our dashboards to manage moments. So the public can browse them freely, see who got the moments etc.

How do I participate?

moments are limited to 5 a month but like if you delete one i feel like it should give you that chance back. such as you have 5 use 2 up then only have 3 chances left, but decided to delete one of the two. you should have 4 chances instead of 3.

How can I take part in this Beta? My streams are usually experimenting with features to make streams interactive.

I would really appreciate if we could create moments from a VOD when the stream is over. In a stream where clips are constantly happening, having to choose during it when to make something a moment is not ideal. As well, it would be nice to be able to hold a "best clip of the week" contest with the community and whatever wins gets turned into a moment. People who were there get a notification in their Twitch homepage to claim the badge.

So far my community loves this feature! We've had a bit of a bug where people present and actively chatting did not receive the notification for the moments badge and was wondering if there was anything on our end to do? :)

The article seems to say there are edit capabilities within 24 hours but I just see the regular clip view when I click "edit" on the moment.

After testing the tool yesterday, the truth is that I was more impressed than I expected. One detail that I would like to add is that it would be cool if, depending on the hours or the number of streams you do per month, they could offer you more moments for the channel. Because maybe you don't always capture the best moment and maybe one will come later than another. For the rest a great function for the channel :)

i just tested it in my chat, we had around 70 people at the time and only like 5-10 of them got the notification and had it work, alot of others seemed to not get it, even though they were active in chat at the time, and after for along time. one person was there the whole stream, from start to finish, and didnt get the badge.

Color swap the last two tiers please! Purple just seems less rare a color than the shiny Diamond like one.
Otherwise I LOVE THIS IDEA! It adds so much validation to the “I was there” and is perfect.

Loving this idea. One thing I would suggest is having a seperate page entirely where a viewer can see all the moments they have on their profile. Having it on the profile card is a start, but it can be done better as it's own page entirely.
Also, if said page is ever made, making specific designed badges for said moments would also be nice too (similar to what VaporStrike19 suggested)
Regardless, looking forward to getting this feature in the future!

Why do we need this? We have clips and highlights! There is nothing added here! Especially nothing for those who don't even use clips and/or highlights in the first place! The only thing I can see as to why this is even a thing is so people can say "I was here" with a badge that means absolutely nothing when the streamer can literally remove the moment. Twitch, use your time to fix your security instead of this.
