Creating a Program Option for Charity Only Streamers
Hi,
I'm a small hobbyist streamer who initially got into streaming to consider it as a monetary side hustle. I made a few hundred dollars doing it, and was happy with that aspect of it.
As time went on outside of streaming and I progressed in my career, the money was less of why I streamed and the enjoyment of it was really all I cared about.
I currently am a Charity Only streamer, and donate my bits, donations, subs, prime subs, ad revenue, etc., 100% exclusively to charity.
The current charity is "Stand Up 2 Cancer", Why? Because **** cancer.
It really doesn't matter what it is, as long as the monetary value I can generate goes to something more meaningful than my own fiscal existence and leisure.
I started with a modest goal of $1000, but hey, once that's reached, I'll pick something else.
This is all besides the point really, let me get to the real request.
I'd love it if there was a category of streamer, that fulfilled this choice of streaming, where all revenue went to charity.
The way I currently set it up is via "Streamlabs Charity" because it's free, I don't want to pay for Tiltify.
But, what happens is when donations, bits, prime subs, subs, etc. come in, I donate it myself at the website and record the transactions in an excel spreadsheet. It really is a pain in the ****.
This new genre of streamer wouldn't have to consider these things, instead there could just be a growing list of charities who work with twitch, which the streamer can then select to support for the stream and the funds would automatically be piped into those charities.
Now, I would think the cost associated with whatever traffic/volume/maintenance goes with these types of streamers, can't just be free, because Twitch is a business and has infrastructure to support. I would suggest either twitch covering those costs in some portion of the 50% it takes out acting as a form of “match” or utilize the streamers Ad revenue to cover expenses.
I think this would be a win win for all parties involved. I’m not sure how this would work for the streamer, but the main benefit I see for myself the way I am currently operating is to write off these donations as a tax write off. I’m fine without the tax write off to be honest, I just want to streamline the experience and think this could be an opportunity to bring out the good in people, but also fund things that actually matter in this world. I’ll continue doing it this super janky way, unless this gets heard in the sea of requests, until then I’ll continue to delimit these columns.
Anyways, let me know.
Thanks,
Rabblezz
