Just got the e-mail saying i was part of this test and I can already tell you it's a bad idea. A 50/50 split on a one-time event? Why would anyone prefer this to a gift sub that grants your emotes to someone for an entire month? If you're going to take half either way, why would any reasonable person choose the less impactful reward?
It's an interesting idea, but making it cost bits instead of taking 50% of the cost would be a better use of the feature.
Make it 100%. Taking away 50% is horrifying. Why would anyone use this over SL and SE donations???
This is a nope from me dawg... I am not interested in forfeiting 50% instead of 3% of my tips. I can guarantee you I will never promote this feature positively as it stands.
Also, how does the streamer react to it, if the on-screen excitement and noise is only for the viewer because the streamer has to have their own stream open to see it?
Are there at least badges and emotes being added to create value?
No? Then no... definitely not going to use this feature and will continue to tell my viewership to tip as they have in the past. Thanks!
50% for some confetti is far too steep of a cost.
50% Cut is way too much. if i were to spend on someone , i'd rather get a sub where i can use Emotes /other benefits for the entire month.
Good idea in theory but once again, the implementation just hasn't been thought through. 50% cut is far too much, especially when there are other services (streamlabs etc) that do better for less
Absolutely not at 50% - unless they can come up with rates directly comparable to PayPal/Patreon, forget it.
Bad idea Twitch 50% of our tip? Na this is poorly thought out and useless tbh
Why would anyone use this over Streamlabs' tips feature...
The Celebrations are pretty lack luster. Its a great start to a idea that could bring communities together. When i got the email about this I figured there would be many different things you could fire off, single emote, explosions, maybe shoot the viewers name on the screen or something wild like that and probably tons of other ideas to extrapolate from this basic implementation.
But I agree with the stance on why would someone interact with this instead of a gift sub or sub, which gives people something as opposed to some random fireworks. I also see this as a potential to replace external donations, but then just build it in as a donation button and let creators build off the events through the chat API just like everything else. Also the split is not the greatest, so essentially you want to take %50 of all revenue coming from Twitch, which we get it you are a business and need to make money too, but I believe that something that helps creators "sell" features to their communities, is the fact it supports them, if a viewer feels like they are getting fleeced, then the platform looks bad and in some cases the creator could be held accountable since they are the face of the product on their channel.
One thing I would love to see is an explanation of your vision of the product. For example, what is celebrate trying to achieve? More engagement? More revenue? Creating the new way to donate to streamers? If you can pitch us on the product then I believe we can pitch it to our audiences otherwise its just a tough sell for everyone.
I know you guys are always innovating and its great to see. But I think this specific implementation is weak at best for the platform.
Terrible implementation from Twitch.
Would need to be:
- Max 5% to Twitch
- Payment protection
Otherwise, jog on.
50% split is a terrible deal for streamers, I will not use this feature. The title of uservoice is improving Twitch for CREATORS. A 50/50 split that is not explicitly stated in the UI hurts the Creators.
I would also prefer if people bought gift subs, they bring value to my viewers over a whole month and can be converted to subs if people enjoy the first month.
