Highlight / clip overhaul and highlight section on the front page
Making highlights effortless.
-A streamer has an epic gamer moment.
-Lots of viewers clip that section during the stream.
-Twitch automatically creates a 30 second highlight of that section of the stream based on how many people clipped it.
-The streamer can set the threshold of clips to create a highlight (Eg:minimum 20 clips within 10 seconds to create a highlight) or disable it completely.
-highlight shows up on the streamer’s channel page.
-The streamer can go back and edit the highlight to be longer or shorter depending on what they want to show in the highlight. They can also remove it.
-To prevent abusing clips and highlighting the entire stream, the streamer can put a cooldown timer on how often viewers can clip their stream per viewer. (Eg viewer makes a clip, has to wait 10 minutes until they can clip again)
Highlight section on the front page of twitch.
-Have a section on the front page of twitch for popular / following / recommended highlights parallel to the live channels / categories section.
-Popularity of highlight is based on how many people clipped that section of the stream / how many views it gets over time.
-Treat it similar to the trending tab on youtube or hot on reddit.
-Also have a section for highlights from streamers you follow (like the sub box on youtube) and for recommended highlights.
-“Clips we think you’ll like” section would become the recommended highlights section.
-Be able to sort highlights like reddit posts (Eg: sort by hot / top of hour, day, week, new, ect.)
Saving clips overhaul.
-Viewer makes a clip.
-Clip gets saved to their channel under “my clips” section.
-Make it front and center.
-Current clip system is kinda bad because you have to go digging through your creator dashboard to find clips.
