Get a warning to follow and unfollow someone.
This would help people like me and others who use a mobile smart phone or tablet with touch screen help people who accidentally unfollow or follow. For example, "I unfollowed someone while watching them when I grabbed my phone, so now whenever I go back to look at my following section, he's not there." So, instead of having it so you automatically follow or unfollow, it will give a warning saying yes to follow or yes to unfollow and no to follow or no to unfollow. In my opinion, I think this is required with most of the things I have used that give warnings.
Thank you for all your feedback! We have launched an update that will now prompt you to confirm you’d like to unfollow the channel. This currently is only available for web, but we hope to add this for mobile/tv apps at a later date.
Edit: minor correction, this is also available on mobile =)

I lost a year for trying to click on Clips and clicked the heart instead; now the !followage is inaccurate, which is upsetting

We really need a unfollow button confirmation dialog box (Are you sure you want to unfollow this user?) so we don't lose our following since time. You can accidentally click unfollow when you're trying to click something else near it. This has happened to me and other people in chat as well. Twitter and other sites already have this feature.

I unfollowed xqc who id been following for 2 and a half years, lost all my followage, twitch should avoid these UI changes or at least implement failsafes so people don't unfollow accidentally, this is ********

This is completly bs! I accidentally unfollowed someone who i've been followed for 3 years.
A new feature should be like, if you follow someone back then it should keep followage then.
Or, give you a warning to confirm if you want to unfollow.
It's your fault Twitch, since you added this new stupid layout. -

Yes please! I accidently unfollowed a streamer I followed for almost 2 years; it's frustrating. Add a warning prompt to confirm if you want to unfollow a channel or not. It should be very easy to implement. And if possible, recover the follow age of users who have accidently unfollowed a streamer.
On a Twitch clips page, people may mistake the 'heart' follow symbol as something else because there is no indication on what the button does.
Also, at times people may not realize they unfollowed someone so they begin to wonder why they haven't streamed for days, when it's not the case.Lastly, there have been some cases where users have accidently unfollowed a streamer... so they follow again just to realize that the chat is set in follower's only mode. They can't type in chat until the time expires because their follow age has reset. There have been cases where it has taken as long as 3 months for time to expire.

So the follow/unfollow button is a simple click and it's done. Which seems nice, but accidental clicks happen, probably more likely when a window is in the background and you missclick. This can lead to accidental unfollows and follows, the former being what people probably want to avoid most. Whether it's because they don't want to miss out on their favorite streamer if they didn't realize they unfollowed, or have some sense of pride in how long they've been following(using bots to check "followage").
My suggestion would be to add an unfollow confirmation prompt that pops up upon an unfollow, and possibly only if you've been following for longer than a set amount of time, say 24 hours. This would prevent any aggravation it could cause for an accidental follow as well.
