audio only option for pc
Audio only option for pc. I know that they have this option on the twitch app, and i would want to see this on pc as well. Sometimes 1080p 60fps and 720p 60fps streams (without quality options) can result in high temps for laptops. Not to mention that this benefits people who want to hear the stream in the background without having to load the video portion of the stream.

Should be easy to add as Twitch already has audio-only option in the Android app (and youtube-dl confirms that there is in fact an audio-only stream available), however it's not available as an option in the Web UI.

You have my vote - this is annoying. I have ****** internet and computer and it can't handle the video sometimes

Hello. Many people watch a stream in the background. They listen more than they watch. For weak computers and a weak Internet, it will be good if the “audio only” mode is added when the video is completely turned off. This mode is interesting to me from PC, not to mention those who listen to streams from phones. Thank you for understanding!

This. It's the first time I see something that important on phone and not on PC.

This would be pretty much the mirror opposite to watching a muted stream. In the stream resolution settings there would be an option to turn video output off and only listen to the audio (in high quality).
This would be really useful for people with low internet speed (also to reduce the use of bandwidth when a lot of people are accessing the service) or who want to do other resource demanding tasks that could otherwise suffer from having a high resolution stream run in the background.

Please add this! I'm on satellite. I can only watch in 160p. So I use twitch as radio. Audio only would save me on my 100 gig data cap.

I whole heartedly agree with this person because sometimes you want to hear the person but don't care about the streams video quality because your using it as white noise or downloading and don't want the stream to impact your download too heavily

this is needed allot. auto doesn't work and honestly, I would prefer to actually have a constant stream of audio and the visuals cut out rather than have both of these not work

The mobile verison supports "Audio only", but not at Browsers or App on Desktop. While Data-Usage shouldn't be problem on PC - but it actually might - in addition, Twitch uses an non-insignificant amount of CPU-power, which could also benefit from that option (i.e. of Talk Shows, Podcasts, ASRM, Music Streams, ...).
I see no point, to exclude this feature on PCs. -
