Clear 'unpublished' clips
If users exit the clip editor without selecting "Publish", a clip with the stream title is still saved. These clips create clutter and detract from browsing all channel clips. Ideally these unintended clips should not be saved/posted.

At this point, there has to be a lot of clips unpublished taking up storage space. At a bare minimum, there should be an expiration on unpublished clips so storage AND clips management is easier to navigate.
Would also expect with Featured clips, and enhanced broadcast in beta, and vertical videos for stories storage is about to increase, this preemptive measure would reduce that burden. Maybe unpublished clips should expire 24 hours if the VOD is available and if the VOD is unavailable OR deleted, all unpublished clips should be deleted. -

It is astounding that this is an issue, and that it has been for years now,

I had no idea pressing clip caused this to happen. I was using the clip system to rewind slightly when I missed something and thought it wouldn't publish unless I clicked the publish button. But a small streamer mentioned the clips I made to me and now I feel really bad about accidentally spamming a bunch of clips. Please change this!

this so much. i actually avoid clipping because i know that when i adjust the clip timestamps in the tool it will flood the channel with random clips that will only annoy the poor viewer that happens to click it.
when i clip something i expect it to only publish what i selected after i have clicked the publish button and closing the tab without clicking the button should not publish anything at all

after exiting the clip editor, the clip gets published on my channel even though I never clicked publish. it's kind of annoying needing to delete all these clips off my channel

+1 for this, would love a button to just delete all the unnamed accidental clips cluttering up the channel rather than manually scour the list for them after every stream or just for them to not be automatically saved in the first place

This is still broken. Is this not getting attention because clips are not an ad space? You're just leaving garbage all over the floor...

Some of the wording involved in the clip system is misleading and can potentially lead to hefty embarrassment.
When a user clicks the Clip button, it automatically publishes the clip. After clipping something, there is a button labelled "Publish", which implies that the clip will NOT be published until that button is clicked; this assumption is painfully inaccurate. This has led to the embarrassment of numerous clips of pointless segments being accidentally published without warning.
Additionally, it would be helpful if the text "Clip Published" were to appear somewhere on the screen after clicking the clip button, just to make things extra clear.
