Category for Video Art streamers
Hello, there are an increasing number of video artists using twitch, but no good category to bring them together. Some use 'Art' but tend to get lost in the sea of traditional artists (painters, drawers etc). Some use 'Music' since their video art is often accompanied by music, but again the focus of that category isn't really right for what they're doing.
Most of the video artists I'm aware of are either generating artistic moving video patterns from scratch (like '70s-style psychadelic music videos, but moving far beyond that with modern technologies) or curating, reshaping and modifying pre-existing video (glitch, colorise, recomposition, remixing etc) to produce distinctive and unique new works. Many are using specialised physical hardware or software, but I'm sure there are others out there using other techniques I don't know about yet... because there's isn't currently a category to group us all together so we can find each other!
If you'd like some recommendations of streamers I know of who would fit in this category then I'd be happy to provide them.
Our community isn't all that large... yet... but I do think we are unique and distinctive and it would be worth giving us a focus and a way to find each other so we can grow together.

A lot of video artists are doing Twitch native interactive stuff too! Twitch bots are a great way to add interactivity to an art piece :)

This would be a fantastic addition to your platform and would be nice to be able to better build a streaming community around this art-form.

yes please! would be fantastic to have a legit category for this stuff. as it stands i've barely done any streaming here as it just doesn't feel like i belong but with a dedicated category it would a) give a real sense of belonging and b) make it easier for video artists like us to find each other and band together!

See also https://twitch.uservoice.com/forums/310210-discover/suggestions/40587256-creating-a-visual-effects-category - similar idea but coming at it from quite a different angle. Something that straddles the two maybe?

Yes please, there are a lot of very talented video artists that go undiscovered without a proper category. This would be great to discover new art!

I couldn't agree more! There is a definite community of video artists here on Twitch and nowadays it's pretty much all I tune into here. I would certainly get some use out of a videoart category.

We agree, a ‘Video Art’ category is very much needed. We have been Video Artists here on Twitch since 2017 and have seen significant growth in this community.

Please make video art a category! It would help visibility for an increasingly relevant art form!

As a video artist, I cannot stress the importance of this! Not only would a category/other resources allow artists to find each other, it would also allow viewers to experience an entirely "new" form of art. Many of the video artists out there right now are creating incredible visual presentations, but most do not have a medium to distribute their works. Twitch is a great platform for this, as you can stream and have VOD of previous live performances. With streaming becoming more and more popular recently, having a category dedicated to this specific type of art would be beneficial to everyone involved.
As Nam June Paik put it: "The future is now".
