Reruns vs LIVE
Live vs Reruns
i think it should be made cleared when a chanel is on a rerun, it shouldn't say "LIVE"
A way that i think they could help new streamers, or lew viewercount streamers overall is to have two subcategories, Live and Reruns.
this would let streamers that are live have a chance to grow.
on the asmr category it's getting out of hands the amount of reruns, youtubecompilations and bots. and we can't do anything about it too. i've reported multiple channels but they are still there, even getting into front page. it's sad to see how the essence of t
witch is getting lost.
promoting reruns over live channels

If we all put live pre-recorded then Twitch would no longer be live. It doesn’t grow us smaller streamers this system. Twitch, you must not allow this.

I’m so tired of having 24/7 fake “Live” channels in my recommended videos.
I admire the work and commitment so many ASMR Streamers present to their communities day in and day out.
To have them pushed further and further down in the Directory by AFK 24/7 rerun channels is a travesty.
I can only imagine how disheartening it must be for Live Content Creators. -

Fake pre-recorded broadcasts up as live should be taken down or placed below active streams. Live > reruns > fakeness

A separate tab for Reruns would really help!

Twitch is about live streaming. Those of us with live content should be above those posting videos. Simple

I come to Twitch for interactive content. I very rarely watch reruns and I don’t think content from YouTube should be passed off as live. There should definitely be a separation between live and reruns. I always run into streams that say live and then you see it’s prerecorded. It is very frustrating.

I wholeheartedly agree, fake not-live streams should be highlighted as that, and not put on the frontpage where the place is most ones that just want to look for an ASMR stream first go and take what pops in the eye because it's shown as live. It hurts actual live streamers that have to put in a lot of their private time and work to be "online" during these times, as well as neglecting the effort. Besides that "live" youtube content is neither live nor in accordance to twitchs own rules. That's not cool and not fair as well. Of course the creators of these videos might have put work and effort in the creation as well, but it shouldn't be advertised as "live" when it's not. The lack of clarification makes it in every sense false. To actually make it possible at all, that someone that puts a lot of work into it and streams live, is able to grow, they have to get the chance. #LiveOnlyForLiveStreamers and push to front page recommendations. It can't be in Twitchs nor the consumers interest that actual live content gets marginalized and eventually rooted out in advantage of reruns or youtube playlists.

TimeTraveler108 mentioned who I came across recently who seems to air their YouTube content 99.9% of the time. Every few days they might do a short live stream I guess to make it look like they participate in live streaming on Twitch regularly.
I followed them for awhile to make it easier to track their amount of reruns to make sure it wasn't me overthinking something. The other day I saw them running a prerecorded stream that had thick black binding their lower arms together with the same tape over their mouth. I'm not sure how they got it off their mouth but when I clicked to see what was going on because I was so curious they were removing the tape with their mouth. I had never seen an ASMR stream on Twitch doing something like that. I'm not a prude at all it was just really surprising.

It has been growing slowly and if more youtubers or people with pre recorded content catch on then ASMR and the Music sections will just become pre recorded videos playing as live, As a ASMR full time stream with a amazing community it saddens me to see people including myself becoming undescoverable in the categories because a stream showing as Live is playing pre recorded content 24/7 , I have to scroll and check in so many streams in the music section also to find amazing live talented people to interact with. Not only is it cluttering the categories and tricking people in to thinking they are live it is very demotivationg for a creator to feel like they will ever grow. With the live channels being in my front page reccomended sections as they are always live 24/7 noone else will ever get a chance. They are effectively farming viewers and followers to direct them to youtube or content else where, or gaining the stats to become affiliate or partner. Yup one of the channels is partnered! https://www.twitch.tv/japan_asmr , by allowing content to be streamed in this manner Twitch is effectively encouraging it, why put real live man hours in when you can play a video and gain affiliate?

Pre-recorded videos are against Twitch affiliate agreement. Live stream content has to be solely on twitch for 24 hours before it can be anywhere else. So these people who are live streaming content from their youtube that was recorded before it was put on twitch....are breaking this rule. Affiliate agreement 2.2 - "starting from beginning of the Initial Broadcast of any such Live Twitch Content, and continuing for a period of twenty-four (24) hours following the end of the Initial Broadcast of such Live Twitch Content (the “Exclusivity Period”), such Live Twitch Content is exclusive to Twitch (even as to you). During the Exclusivity Period of any Live Twitch Content, you will not, nor permit or authorize any third party to, broadcast, stream, distribute, exhibit and otherwise make available such Live Twitch Content in any manner. Notwithstanding the foregoing, you have the right to make any Live Twitch Content available, during the Exclusivity Period, solely via the Twitch Services. After the Exclusivity Period of any Live Twitch Content, the license to such Live Twitch Content will become non-exclusive and you will have the right to broadcast, stream, distribute, exhibit and otherwise make available such Live Twitch Content in any manner and format desired by you."

The solution to the bot problem is simple. A setting on the channel togglable should require bots to require a hash/token ID provided by the channel content creator/owner to allow access. Much like how Facebook, each App requires each individual user's authorization.
I agree on the point of Live vs. Reruns too.

Haha no seriously, I agree 100% with the sentiments expressed in this suggestion. I think the genuine live streamers are getting a rotten deal when they give so much to the community and the website.
Much love to them, and I hope this suggestion is enacted ASAP. <3

I agree! Abolish the fake live streams please. It hurts the real content creators who chose to stream on Twitch. Protect our own talent!

Live streams are much better, they should be at the top of the list as the performers put hard work into their streams.

"Don't just watch, join in
Welcome to Twitch. We are a global community of millions who come together each day to create their own entertainment: unique, live, unpredictable, never-to-be repeated experiences created by the magical interactions of the many."From Twitch's own About page and mission! If Twitch would like to get into the YouTube style of content creation, then buy YouTube, or create a secondary Twitch.prerecorded website. I have nothing against active, live streamers running reruns on their channel from time to time, but we are far beyond that now, and have channels who ACTIVELY advertise that their content is pre-recorded. Right now, 3 of the top 8 channels are pre-recorded content, but they all SAY LIVE, and 3 of the top 8 channels are reruns. Only 2 of the top 8 channels right now are live, even though 5 channels say they are!! Meanwhile, all the legitimately live channels are down on the bottom below the YouTubers and the reruns, struggling to get views. Please protect your community! Thanks in advance.

First, there should be either: a way to toggle view if you want to see Live or Reruns; or have reruns pushed to the bottom and Live channels sit on top.
Second, if these 24/7 "LIVE" channels just looping YT videos aren't stopped soon, then the future of the ASMR category looks bleak. Someone can just set up an AFK channel and gain exposure FOR FREE. They don't ever have to put in the effort of going live, which so many of us love to do.
I really hope someone listens to this :(

reruns are cool when its clear, theres some ASMR streamers ive noticed who show as live but are just playing their youtube videos on loop, its technically coming live from their pc but they arent actually there its just automated

Twitch is a live-streaming platform and pre-recorded content is against its entire concept. Moreover, it opens up to the same content being played over and over under the context of being 'live'. Its very demotivating to both streamers who actually are live and the viewers who want to watch live content as well. There is no filter to separate the live-stream with the reruns either and I think these issues should be looked at seriously by the devs and managers.

ZombieLove commented
Yes! The people that are Live streaming Pre-recorded content are never actually live in front of their viewers. If this continues, twitch is not going to be about live streaming any more, it will just be people "live streaming" their pre-recorded youtube content. Pre-recorded Live streams, Reruns, and view botted channels are taking over the ASMR category. Making it so hard working asmr artists (that are actually LIVE) are not being seen. There NEEDS to be a separation between reruns and live streams. AND the streams that are only streaming pre-recorded content NEED TO GO.
- Asmr streamers are starting to lose the drive to stream. Not just me, many asmr streamers. If this continues all that will be left is reruns and pre-recorded youtube videos.Genuine live streaming asmr artists wont waste their time streaming if their stream is not able to be viewed.
- You need to address this immediately Twitch. -

I'm totally against the idea of running videos while claiming to be live. MissSykeology is notorious for this. It isn't at all fair to ASMR streamers and others who actually do live streams. It will eventually turn Twitch into just an annex for YouTube.
