Viewer volume mixer
Give the viewer custom volume level options for individual things for the stream to then let them change it to his/her liking. NOT just one master volume option. I'm thinking more along the lines of: "This is one for the viewers, Give them more flexibility."
If one viewer thinks the game-play/music/commentary is too low/high, they should be able to fix that without disturbing the other viewers or spamming the streamer to change a certain audio output level. (NOTE: This will only effect the viewer audio output. NOT the streamer/other viewers.)
Game-play audio (Self explanatory, change game play audio level whilst watching stream. I find some streamers have really loud game-play audio and i cannot hear the commentary.)
Commentary (Most streamers might not have the best microphone setup, this will allow the viewer to change the output to their liking based on how loud/quiet the streamer is.)
Music/Donation alerts (Most streamers like to have their own custom donation notification sounds, as well as their own music tastes that some viewers might not like. This will change the output to both, although i would like to see if they can be separated.)
If anyone thinks this can be viable by Twitch or if Twitch thinks this might be a good idea to test, please let me know.
Separate audio streams for music AND gameplay AND streamer's voice, pretty please!
- The music is sometimes obnoxious to the point that I choose to leave
- If I'm watching a tournament while trying to listen to two or more opponents/commentators commenting on the match at the same time, both the unsynched gameplay audio and the multiple music tracks playing at the same time can be very annoying
i think it really need it..!
Multiple audio channels aren't that difficult to pull off, they're supported by MPEG-DASH and similar technologies (there's even a standard for it but I'm not sure to what degree it's currently implemented in web browsers). There should definitely have been multiple channels on Twitch a long time ago. Another use case is to allow viewers to manually adjust the volume mix between "Game" and "Streamer" (this comes up allll the time)
I would love this.
It would be nice to add something where I can mute the music the streamer is playing and only listen to him speaking. Its just sometimes the music the streamer is playing is not what I want to listen to but I still want to hear what hes saying or I would like to listen to my own music instead .I think this would also remove the the muting of some parts of the Vods because of the copyrighted music
Twitch should be able to handle separate audio tracks, one for voice and one for music.
When a video is muted due to copyright or whatever, then the voice of the streamer should never be muted.
The only reason I don't watch my favourite streamers when I go to sleep is I don't have an option for voice-only streams. This is a good idea but not for copyright reasons, imo anyway.
I'm a WoW player mostly. I imagine there are some lots of other games and streams this applies to though. Every streamer I enjoy watching has music playing which may deter viewers like me from watching at certain times.
I love to watch certain viewers, but when they start playing the techno music that sounds like pots and pans bashing together I can't handle it. I just wish I could mute the desktop audio for example, and only listen to their mic audio.
I was going to write this idea as well. Often I love the streamer. But their music is not my taste. So if his voice/ingame sounds could be seperate from his music it would make the experience 500% better.
I am sure such a big and skilled company as twitch would be able to come up with a switch or a coorporation with a company like OBS.
Currently steamer's voice and music are 1 audio stream and viewers can't mute music and keep steamer's voice or change volume the way they want. And because of copyrighted music steamer's voice and whole audio gets muted in past streams.
With distinct audio streams you could keep streamers voice even if he played copyrighted music and viewers will be able to mute streamer's music or change volume.
So for viewer there will be 2 volume controls instead of 1- one for voice and another one for music and other sounds(game sounds, etc.).
This! I'm new to Twitch and after a couple of days I already need this feature in my life.
I want to listen to the game and the streamer, but if he has terrible music taste, I want to be able to remove that without losing the rest of the audio.
Bonus: If some company complains a bout their music being used in a video, it would be trivial to mute the "music" channel in the video while keeping the streamer's voice and game audio.
This is my most desired feature. Sometimes I want to mute everything but the game audio, sometimes I want to increase the volume of the discord chat, sometimes I want to mute the music. Give the viewer control of the audio track levels!
I do like 0x800CCC0F's suggestion. However ectofx, streamers should know how to set their audio levels accordingly. Ideally, Twitch should somehow enforce streamers to learn basics about audio levels and mixing... there are too many streamers that do not understand audio clipping, and have their voice level so high it clips (distorts), and game volume, background music is too low or too high. It is a delicate mix, and one I am quite familiar with... being a DJ. Audio clipping to me, is as bad as feedback or echo... you might as well be scratching a chalk board.
This would be a great feature, maybe only allow people to choose a level of the audio but should not be able to mute it unless the audio channel is flagged.
Sometimes i don't like the streamer music or im not in the mood for it.
I want to choose what i see and what i hear
I fully agree with this, the mad lad Swiftor himself (by the way Swiftor if you see this I've been a fan for about 10 years absolutely love you) makes a great point about muting the copyright music and the difficulty of pulling this off, and if this could be done it would be absolutely amazing to have as a feature on streams. One of my problems, when I am trying to watch some streamers, is the music choice, volume, or content. I think it would be great to be able to mute or turn down the music in some way for the individual persons.
This sounds super difficult to pull off - but it would be amazing. It would also solve copyrighted music muting streamer voice, etc. in many cases.
It would generally be nice if Twitch allowed streams with two audio streams along with the video stream, i.e. one for in-game audio and the streamer talking and one for the the music the streamer is playing in the background. Not only would this allow users to mix the audio on their side, for instance to listen to other music while watching the stream, but it would also be nice if a stream got its audio muted. In that case, only the music channel would be muted for copyright so people watching the VOD could still enjoy the streamer talking and the gameplay music.
