Once subscribed to a channel, a user will get access to the normal unlocked things but also access to a new tab next to "Gift Subs" called "Gift Bits." Gifting bits directly through a channel the viewer is subbed to will provide a discount. For example we'll say $1 = 100 bits. One option would be $1 = 110 bits if subbed...or, you could implement it as .90C = 100 bits.

You could scale bigger discounts based on longevity (consecutive months subbed) or through level of subscription (Tier 1, T2, T3.)

I do not have financial information on twitch but I imagine that the primary revenue stream is through subs/gifted subs and a supporting revenue stream of bits. This discount would encourage secondary monetary support and engagement from recurrent viewers. Providing an incentive to further support a subbed streamer will increase conversion rates for twitch and higher bit engagement for streamers.

With a volume discount theory backing this implementation, conversion rates, repeat purchases to a subbed channel, and profit margin depreciation would need to be monitored.

It could be possible to mitigate profit margin erosion through the use of a time limit ("You just subbed to x channel. You have 3 days to gift x bits for x discounted price.") This could provide both sense of urgency and increased optics that there are secondary methods to engage with a streamer.

A secondary option could be to split the profit margin erosion on the back end. The (profit margin - discounted profit margin) / 2 could be split between the streamer and Twitch. This would need to be implemented fairly and transparently as both Twitch and the streamer would receive less total payout. New bit volume would be key to sustaining this relationship.

Imagine being able to recycle Bits that have been cheered to you. You could either store them in your Bits balance, cash them out via PayPal, or Re-Cheer them to other streamers!

Other streamers, like myself, who are constantly having Bits cheered to us during our own streams would greatly benefit from this feature. It would be a great way for the Twitch community to interact with one another, to support smaller streamers.

Consider that not all streamers need the income. Some only stream for fun, or as a hobby, so the choice should be left up to each individual streamer. If they feel that they could benefit from the income, they can choose to cash out via PayPal. If they feel that another streamer could benefit from it more, they can choose to support others, instead.

It would also help, timewise, for streamers who are more dependent on Bit Cheers, as there wouldn't be a 30 day roll-over period before the Bits were able to be withdrawn. Streamers who need their earnings sooner would have the ability to withdraw when needed, rather than on a set schedule.

Something new that "could" be added to bits is when any viewer redeems 1 or more loot with Twitch Prime on any affiliate or partner channel, that channel owner could automatically get 0.15% off bits per viewer who have redeemed 1 or more loot when on that channel. It would take 100 viewers redeeming loot to reach 15% off bits for that specific channel.

The cap of the percentage off bits for the channel owner could be 5%-15%. Once a channel reaches the cap the channel owner could have one-to-two weeks to buy the bits with a percentage off, from viewers redeeming loot on their channel (before it resets to zero).

A lot of streamers support many other channels and it's out of love that people cheer streams, so it could be a good thing to have another way to support your favourite streamer with Twitch Prime by giving the streamer a discount on bits.

As a Twitch streamer, I believe these can be improved to make bits a more fun and rewarding options for viewers:

1. Up to 5 Animated emotes as an option for bit emote rewards that streamers can put in any slot.
2. Allow streamers to give their bot access to using bit emotes. Currently, partnered streamers can give permanent tier 3 subs to bots, but this doesn't give the bot access to bit emotes.
3. Currently, bit badges go up to 5 million. It should go higher.
4. Expand the current channel points system to include redemptions with bits

I think these improvements would encourage many more people to use bits!

Would be nice if there was a setting akin to the setting for sub gifting to no longer show up on the leaderboard. Would probably not be necessary to take away the cheer badges (since you can just choose what badge you want to use).

I know a lot of streamers prefer knowing where love and support came from so they have a slight dislike towards anonymous bits/gifts. But I personally prefer not showing up on the leaderboards when it comes to cheering bits/gifting subs, so I love the setting where you can hide from them for subs, would just love a similar setting for bits as well.

There are games within certain niches (e.g. the RPG Maker horror community) with more restrictive licenses on earning money from broadcasts of them than many other games. I'd like the ability to disable and re-enable bits (either whenever the streamer feels or on a per-stream basis) to allow for streaming these games without running the risk of unintentionally breaking their content guidelines by receiving a donation that I have no control over.

YouTube's streaming service offers the ability to freely disable their Super Chats and Super Stickers monetisation, making accidentally breaking usage guidelines in this way much less likely. Currently the only similar alternative I have on Twitch is to set my Bits minimum donation as high as it can go (10000 Bits). This is fine for most streamers, including myself, but it is not a 100% secure system for handling this issue. A toggle would help streamers stream more games on Twitch while remaining in line with the wishes of their creators.

I would love to see a feature where viewers can Battle with Bits! basically it could be a bit brawl where multiple people go in and more than 1 get the emote or 1v1 bit battle. Basically battling with 1 bit and whoever stops or does not respond the other person received the Channel Specific Emote or Twitch Specific Emote.

A new challenger can then challenge the Bit Battle Winner in order to then gain that Channel Specific Emote. This would increase chances of Hype Trains and be fun to see viewers battling for that emote. I believe it would be cool to see it be something similar to a large Star infront of the users name until another challenger approaches.

Many users like to work towards a badge goal when gifting subs and bits. Total subs gifted in a channel is already tracked each time someone gifts a sub, which allows the user to understand how close they are to the next sub badge (i.e. "PersonA has gifted a sub to PersonB. PersonA has gifted a total of 975 subs in the channel" -> now they know if they gift 25 more subs, they will get the 1K subs badge). I'm proposing something similar for bits, either publicly or locally so that the user can see their total bits contributed in a channel and continue to work towards their next badge.

As far as I know there is no way to determine whether a channel has bits rewards emotes (unique and permanent emotes unlocked by spending 1K bits, 5K bits, 10K bits, etc. in that channel) unless the owner or someone with the emote uses it in chat. It apparently can't be looked up in the bits menu for the channel or anywhere else.

I'm not referring to cheer emotes, or to custom bit badges for certain levels that appear next to your username when in that channel, but to permanent emotes that can be used anywhere on Twitch, even if you don't subscribe to the channel in question. The emotes are tied to bits spent, not to subscriber status.

Is there a way to know whether a channel has bits rewards emotes without waiting for them to be used or asking the owner of the channel? It would be very useful for those of us who follow dozens of channels but aren't sure which of them have them and which don't have them. Thanks!

In "Bits Acceptable Use Policy / Now the Don’ts that constitute violations of this policy:" we can see that it is included in don*ts "graphic design services". I think this is totally wrong. Why I am thinking that? 1st you (Twitch) loosing a large amount of money because of that and there is nothing wrong with offering designer services in exchange for bits. You like it or not, bits are some kind of currency and streamers using it for all kind of things on their live streams. If you really want to push this "Now the Don’ts that constitute violations of this policy:" policy in a wide meaning you will have to ban half of a twitch streamers. In a nut shell bits only can be used to be gifted to streamer without asking anything in return from streamer and I agree with that because that mean "no return back when u make a gift in bits" ,,, but, someone gifted me some amount of bits and because I want to thank him on some way I would make some graphic design for his twitch,,, is that against Bits ToS? You see, there is nothing wrong with that. There is no exchange, there is only good will between us. Of course you can turn that around and say that this was some kind of payment. Well, maybe you dont know but everything is some kind of payment.
2nd. If you remove "graphic design services" you will get a lot of designers from other platforms which are made for that kind of services. What I am offering on my Twitch channel? Someone who need some graphic design can watch me working on that what he/she need (graphic design). This is excellent! Because he/she can make corrections till I working and whole job will take less time than if I doing it on some other site dedicated to graphic designers and selling their services. You see where I am going and why twitch is way better place to sell graphic designs than other sites on web?
In short ...
By removing "graphic design services" you will get a lot more transfers/use of bits, which is probably what you want from users to do. Designers and people who use designers services will not be scared of ban on twitch. You will get a ton of designers from other web pages who will like to offer their services on twitch because on twitch is way way easier to do graphic design stuff for wide variety of customers just because customers can interact with designer in a process of design which is base of good, quick and satisfied customer in a graphic designers world.
