Please do not remove the ability to cheer anonymously
Today (Oct 24, 2022) Anon cheering seems to have been disabled for some reason. Please do not remove the ability to cheer Anonymously.
Some of us like to donate bits and don't want to be "recognized" for it. Removing the ability to cheer anonymously will just make us not cheer at all.
If this was somehow something streamers were asking for, then make it a per-stream setting a streamer can toggle (but default ON).

Hey all! Thanks for this thread. We recently deprecated anonymous Cheering after we discovered it was being abused. While we understand some viewers prefer not being recognized for Cheering, we made this change to ensure a safer experience for those who were negatively impacted.
We’ve also heard your concerns on what this means for the future of Bits. This deprecation is not related to any plans to limit Cheering with Bits on Twitch, and is solely focused on providing a safer experience for our community.

NEVER get rid of the ability to do anonymous acts!
People should have the ability to donate sums of cash or gift subs without being pressured by people in chat to gift them a sub or donate bits to them!

They've been slowly getting rid of Bits-related features for months. Presumably because they want to get rid of Bits entirely. But haven't said anything about it because they hate communicating what they're planning. Assuming they want to replace it with one of the 2 technically separate but ridiculously similar experiments going on right now... Both lower-value knockoffs of the already more boring & less useful YouTube SuperChat feature.
But since neither of them seem to allow Anonymous payments either, the main point of this original request still stands.

Make this a toggle option. Make it the Streamers decision to Enable or Disable this.

Why would you even consider this Twitch? Yet again another "Who Asked For This?" moment.

I personally would love to keep the anonymous cheering because I don't want people to know that I cheered and I don't want people to direct message me about it or say my name in their stream about it. A lot of people are going to be extremely upset if you remove this and more than likely not be on twitch anymore.

Reducing options in a way that will have a chilling effect on revenue isn't exactly a good business model for Twitch OR the streamers. Content creators have enough challenges already, they don't need the platform reducing options.

I want this to stay, some viewers are not comfortable with showing there name when they support you. Make things toggle only instead of removing them!!!

Yes, if there are streamers uncomfortable with the anonymous function, then please allow the *streamers* to decide on having that feature. Please do not take it from everyone, and turn it into a toggle feature.
Sometimes people want to support without the spotlight being turned on them.

Its a bad idea to get rid of it. Some of us don't need/want the attention drawn to themselves.

This needs to be an *optional* setting for the streamer to decide on, but do not force one or the other on everyone.

Donating by default should be anonymous, no matter what the amount. If someone wants credit, they are free to do so openly but not everyone is comfortable on receiving such recognition. Twitch please don’t remove the feature, it scares people away

As someone with social anxiety, and doesn't want/need my username popping up in someone's stream, this would absolutely cause me to not donate when live. I would rather not have people know the username of people donating, especially large sums of money. It opens the door for people to try and manipulate and take advantage of the users of the platform, as well as possibly removing a stream of income from streamers if people don't want others to know they are donating. Please leave the option to donate to streamers anonymous.

Leave it alone. Options for folks are important.

Literally don't get rid of it. There's no point of getting rid of it. People don't want the recognition of being ID'd for cheering bits. Let them be in peace.
Stop alienating your community before it's too late, Twitch.

KEEP. ANON. BIT. CHEERING.
I use it all the time to support streamers when I want to stay lurking.

Anonymity permits users who would otherwise wistfully think of supporting to become active supporters. It is an important part of the community and also revenue for creators and platform

Twitch please do not get rid of anonymous cheering or cheering in general. Bits are my favorite part of Twitch and streamers put a lot of work in to creating fun bit alerts for their community.

It is important for the anon feature to be there for the viewer as there are an overwhelming amount of people that will DM and beg for handouts if someone is seen donating a large amount. Instead of getting rid of anon, why not set it to where the user can choose to be anon but Twitch still tracks in case of fraud or abuse. Removing this feature hurts all streamers, big and small, and only sends people to places like Patreon, Ko-Fi, Fanhouse, or Paypal. Therefore removing any profit for Twitch.

it's important to keep anon bits and the bits themselves, because a lot of people use them to support their fav streamers, and i have a lot of people who use them anon so they can stay lurking and not be called out.

It is important to keep anonymous bit cheering, it has value to my community.
