[Experiment] Making Cheering Easier
For a limited time, within a select number of channels, we’re testing a different way to Cheer through direct purchase Cheering.
Direct purchase Cheering allows you to unlock a fun community benefit through monetary payment, rather than through Bits. This experiment is only available to select creators and you must be located in the U.S. to participate. If you have any further questions please refer to our help article (https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/cheering-experiment-2022?language=en_US)
We look forward to hearing your feedback on this!

This is by far one of the worst ideas I've ever seen being implemented by Twitch. It's like they want us to stop using their platform.

Wow cool instead of hundreds of bits I'm sending one dollar. One stupid dollar. Like I threw it into a man playing guitar's hat on the street. Whatever manager pushed this must have underlings who are afraid of them, because this one half-baked poorly implemented idea from the ground up. Hey manager: Your staff didn't tell you this is bad and dumb because you're a monster. Your marketing degree didn't help you and it ain't helping this business.

Absolutely awful idea. Removing something that's a part of Twitch's identity to be "trendy" or to "Have it be easier" when we all know it's not is just not it. I'm not one to leave comments very often, but I am one who buys bits frequently. I will absolutely stop donating through cheers if they remove bits. Go back to the drawing board if you want to do a change, but it's genuinely NOT needed. Also, tell your higher-ups to do better. They're ruining the site with their greed and terrible ideas.

The Idea is nice but...
As it is now it is absolute GARBAGE.
1$=3Emotes -> 1:3
5$=10 -> 1:2
100$=30 -> 3:1
You pay more and get less. And LESS. Please learn math. Or diversify the results. Like 1$ = 1 Emote for 3 persons. 5$ = 2 Emotes for 10 people. 100$ = 10Emotes for 100 people or something like that.As for the UI on user-side. Garbage. Absolut sh**. Not usable. More confusing than anything else. Delete and redo!
It is completely pressed into the edge. Not enough space, too much information. The buy button is UNDER the text. While the whole box is above. Yes, I get that you want to streamline it and imply that the message is the "Cheertext" and not a normal chat message. But please. It is all above the Chat if you click on the button, you would expect the buy there also. Make a second screen after selecting everything where you can put in the text and confirm the buy for the cheer for example.And please. PLEASE put the option if one wants to do the Direct Cheer or the old "normal Cheers" as a setting for the users and not the channel. Some will hate the new system and don't want to direct cheer. Leave us the pre-buyed Bits to use that feature. The prizes are not different at all, so why make it more complicated for everyone?
For implementing the rewards for Cheers you could do it like "Use the Emotename+Bit100" for example to unlock the Emote for 3 other users random while cheereing 100 Bits. That will need some more thought for how to do it with several emotes on higher tiers (more bits) but that you can figure out on your own. And please include if someone wants to cheer with 101 bits to still get the benefits. You can place milestones for when it unlocks and how many but let the user decide how much he wants to spend on his own.
We like to just write the text for bits and not having to click and search for the buttons -

It might work as an extra but it shouldn't replace bits. Bits are great for meme amounts and low value amounts. Bit rewards are much better than a temporary emote and it's unfortunate that Direct Cheers don't help viewers unlock Bit Rewards.

This seems impractical for smaller streamers, when most of their viewers are already subbed. It also seems not great to remove bits for this new cheer system. More options are better, especially if all the bugs are not worked out yet.

Not a fan of this. Glaring monetary concerns aside, bit cheering is a part of Twitch's fantastic culture. It's what sets Twitch apart from other platformS. To me nothing beats popping into a stream and seeing all the custom bit alerts showcasing community highlights, funny memes, etc. With this new system, Twitch takes one more step away from losing everything that makes it unique as a platform, in favor of following trends, increasing profit, and creating a larger divide between themselves and their content creators. Please do not do this.

Why would any Twitch user want something that doesn't benefit the streamer or their community? This is a terrible idea that can only serve to make the platform a worse place for everyone on it. Unless you're actively trying to drive users to YouTube this ain't it.

You need custom amounts, and a clear way to know what the streamer is getting. With all the random fees its still somehow confusing. Streamers were told we get 80% after fees, but what does that mean? So far I've gotten about 66% of donations. Why not just give a fixed amount? Without people knowing clearly what they are giving/getting for their money (like they do with bits) or being able to give custom amounts (like you can with bits) you are removing a lot of useful functionality from the website, confusing viewers/streamers again, and will just drive people to Paypal Tips which is actually fine with me... but I'd like to see a useful Cheer/Donation system on Twitch if it can exist.

I had this button on the first try of forcing it on people and it was terrible. I'm pretty surprised, and very disappointed, that it is still an idea in the works.

who ever keeps making these ideas like stopping hosting and now this needs to be demoted too lint picker you are going to kill twitch from the inside out like a cancer you are meant to make twitch better not mess it up more and more you are making the same mistakes as YouTube did so many channels will die because of dumb **** like this

Please don't fix what isn't broken. Being able to cheer a custom amount allows for not only creative freedom for the streamer with the custom alerts for scustom amounts cheered, but, the freedom to choose any amount to donate to a streamer. Why take the freedom of choice from our loyal viewers and supporters?

I hate to say this but are you guys trying to kill this platform if so good job! every idea outside of the "after-dark" that your creative team has come up with this year to "gain profits" is putting another nail in the coffin of twitch! this Idea is terrible and is not only going to push your large streamers (what few are left after your recent backlash) but your small and medium ones too and since the creative team is clearly out of the loop let me fill you in on something. most of your audience on your platform isn't from your puddle of large streamers, its scattered amongst the many small and medium streamers like me and many others and if you implement this awful idea that will take away from there already limited income at that point amazon might as well shut down twitch because with the backlash you will take from this and everything else that has happened this year will likely be unrecoverable even in years to come with the stain it will leave on this brand forever.

This is not good and limits the options of viewers AND streamers alike.
If something isn't broken why are you trying to 'fix' it?
The current cheer system is very flexible and suits EVERYONE and this new system is very limiting in numerous ways. I don't approve at all. Thumbs down..
