Add a search bar back to the header.
On minecraft.curseforge.com there was a search bar in the header that allowed me to search for content by name/keyword directly from any page on the site. I used it all the time, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. As of now, it's easier to just google the mod and find it that way than to try and search it internally.
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to submit your idea! We are looking into this suggestion internally and will update this page once a final decision has been made. Please add any additional details that you think would be helpful in the comments! We are Listening!
100% agree with the comments, this has been a huge time sink when I moved over to curse to start building packs. Having to keep another tab open just to search is kind of crazy - especially when the feedback page itself has a search function on it. It's right over there ->
I made a userscript to do this, intended for people that only use the site for Minecraft mods: https://gist.github.com/comp500/02d141a5b573aa80cff7e87989884bf5
This is the only reason I came to the feedback section. This Must be added.
This would be easy to implement, as each game already has an existing search engine and if the search bar was added to the header at the top of the page, it would only need to be shown when you are already looking at an addon/mod for that game. Then when a search is performed, open the games existing search page with the search results.
Personally, I would add the search bar to the top-right corner of the addon title frame, above the download/install buttons.
As much as I see this as a good idea, I feel there would be some major setbacks. For starters, Curseforge is no longer just about Minecraft, so the search feature is going to look up more than just the game you are after (this I would find especially annoying if you play a game significantly less popular than Minecraft). Unless the search feature was completely redone to not only filter by game, but also filter by that game's specifications (this I would find difficult to design, but then again I didn't take web design), the search bar as is wouldn't be viable to bring back in its current state.
My goodness, where the **** is it, this is crazy....
RE-ADD THE **** SEARCH HEADER BAR TWITCH!!!
I shouldn't have to keep going back to the main search url, just to hit my next mod, you're making updating my mods, annoying, and NO, I do NOT want to use your ****** **** mod client!
Yes, Totally agree, the search bar should be in the header, becose right now, when I have to look for multiples mods for Minecraft, I search the first one, I open the mod page and have to search for another mod, I have to go in the precedent page to search for another mods, this is just annoying, and a new waste of time with the new interface...
Exactly. I can't just search for something I know exists so I can have quick access to it.
I have go Browse>Minecraft>Mods tab
Why does search default on modpacks?
What's with this trend towards removing convenience!?
Yeah! This is really tiring. So when you are looking for another mod, you now must click the Browse button, choose the game and only after it you get access to search bar. Recently it was easier to do: search bar was always at the header, and you didn't need to do a lot of actions to get to it.
