  1. Forge

Show compatible forge build versions for a mod. Some gave minimal forge version, some have gaps in coverage, some have maximum forge version.

Also let us search for all mods working with a certain build.

In general some kind of continuous integration feedback. And while at it, make the ci test both on stand-alone and client so that users can quickly see on the kids page if it works only on client or server.

  2. Stop approving Projects that have so poor infos

A while ago when I started making mods and tried to publish my first mod it was rejected, because the description was not exaustive at all.
Now I see projects with one single row in the description get approved.

  3. Add a Like/Dislike button to vote mods.

Add a Like/Dislike button to vote mods. Popularity will increase with Likes while will decrease with Dislikes. This will be really useful to tell easier which mods / modpacks are bad.

  4. Make the Maven repository more visible/flexible

According to https://authors.curseforge.com/docs/api there is a maven repository that automatically hosts uploaded files, which is cool. I've gotten it to work so long as projects conform exactly to the pattern described in the article.

However, if a project deviates from this pattern, either the maven entries aren't generated or are extremely obscure.

    Examples:

    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/projecte/files/2666545
    Expected maven link: projecte:ProjectE-1.12.2:PE1.4.0
Result: Does not work, likely because the version number is prefixed with "PE"

    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/better-builders-wands/files/2668846
    Expected maven link: better-builders-wands:BetterBuildersWands-1.12.2:0.13.0.267+dc89c58
Result: Does not work, probably because of that git tag. However, adding ":dev" to the end does work, to request the sub-file.

  5. Share to social media button

Would be cool to have a button that allows sharing to common social media platforms. This would help users promote mods they enjoy and drive more traffic to the site/mod. Main target could be twitter, discord, and reddit. As these are very common for sharing mods.

  6. Twitch App WoW Dependencies

I'm seeing a number of issues related to World of Warcraft addons and the dependencies as they are handled by the Twitch app. I wanted to start by opening the issue on the Curseforge side and go from there:

Please review my projects - I have a number of them all with the word "TomCat's" in the name.
In particular, one addon named "TomCat's Tours: Complete" intends to allow some of my more loyal end users to be able to have all of the TomCat's Tours addons installed and kept up to date without having to look for new addons…

  7. Give us the ability to search the "issues" portion of minecraft mod packs.

Currently we can view the issues page for mod packs to see bugs/feedback reported there. We can toggle to view by tags or status (open/closed) but we cannot perform any simple search in this section. Being able to search would allow us to determine if an issue has already been reported/addressed.

    Sample page: https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/project-ozone-3-a-new-way-forward/issues

  8. You can MASSIVELY improve CurseForge simply by making the project search show whether something is a mod or a modpack.

I just now went out of my way to join a Discord server and tried to ask someone whether their mod Technomancy Revamped had the same issue as another 1.12.2 port of the mod called Technomancy. After much confusion and irritation on both sides of the conversation, someone mentioned to me that Technomancy Revamped is a modPACK, not a mod. The CurseForge search results give absolutely no indication whatsoever as to whether a specific result is a mod, modpack, texture pack, or whatever else it could be. I just wasted thirty minutes barking completely up the wrong tree because of…

  9. On each modpack files to be able to know exactly what version of the mod its being used

This will help mod developers as well as modpack creators as well as users, especially when a crash/issue happens and you need to know exactly which version caused the crash/issue

Also its just really nice to know what version of the mod a modpack uses... will help updating packs and pack management

  10. New Keyword Substitution: integer date of build/packaging

After talking on discord with Zeldo and Torhal we found that @project-date-integer@ does not match the date the zip file was made.
It match the date of the last commit on git.

If last commit was made locally and merged only a few days later, with other commits in between, the number returned by @project-date-integer@ can be lower than previous zip file.

So this field can't be use for versioning, and there is no other field than can be used for this purpose.

  11. Provide a way to find new projects on CurseForge

It would be very useful to have a reliable way of finding new mods on CurseForge. There is the ability to sort by the project creation date, however this is not the same as a project being new, and has many issues that can harm the discoverability of new projects.

To give an example, many mod authors will create the CurseForge project page days/weeks/months before they upload a new file. The reasoning from this can vary but it's often because they want to reserve the slug ID, or an issue came up in development which has delayed release. Another possible…

  12. Disable minecraft profile play buttons when files are getting downloaded.

Currently you can start the game while files are trying to be updated or downloaded. This causes an error as the files will be in use when the app tries to replace them.

  13. Author Project Filter by type

Would be nice to have a way to filter by type on the author project page https://minecraft.curseforge.com/dashboard/projects as it can be a pain once you get over a set number of projects. Mainly looking for a way to search for mods or modpacks. As well exclude unsubmitted and deleted projects.

  15. Option to hide API/library mods from the list

Many Minecraft mod makers upload API/library mods that are only needed to make their mods work, but are pointless to download otherwise. This makes an already very long mod list even longer and more difficult to browse, also because library mods look like content mods until you read the description.

My suggestion is to add a show/hide checkbox to the "API and Library" category, and to make it hidden by default.

  16. Optional mods in modpacks

When making a modpack it would be cool to have optional mods. This is a feature that exists in a few launchers I've created for other groups. It works by defining a flag on each mod (required, recommended, optional). Then when a user starts or installs the pack it asks if they want to enable the mod or leave it disabled.

The idea behind this would be to allow shipping mini-maps or performance fixed. While allowing users to disable them without unlocking the modpack and manually disabling the mods.

It would also provide a much better user experience. Along with…

  17. Followed modpacks show in launcher

Would be cool if the client tracks modpacks that I follow and allowed me to quick install. This way I do not have to search for modpacks each time I use a new/different computer.

  18. Add ability to download packs in client.

It would be very useful to have a way to download a modpack (or even a mod) to the Twitch client, directly from the website. This could take the form of a button on the wesbite that says "Download in Twitch client", and clicking this button would communicate with the Twitch client and prompt the download to happen.

Ideally, this feature would be handled by registering the Twitch app to handle a custom URI scheme. Microsoft has some more information on that here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/internet-explorer/ie-developer/platform-apis/aa767914(v=vs.85)

I believe the above approach would be ideal because it greatly streamlines the process for the…

  19. Has Dependency Icon

Next to the mod download on main page there should be a small icon to say the file has dependencies. Right now if a user clicks the quick download option there is nothing to tell them there is dependencies. This information is hidden in the files page. Which very few users actually travel to check for dependencies. Many mod authors I've talked to have resorted to "HAS DEPENDENCIES" messages/links at the top of the page.

This could be solved with a little icon, maybe even a number, next to the download button.

  20. Project download data

    Half related to https://twitch.uservoice.com/forums/915910-game-mods-curseforge/suggestions/36481525-project-data-graphs

Would be useful to see the source of downloads of a mod. Mainly in regards to modpacks vs downloads vs dependencies. This way mod authors can see where the downloads are coming from and decide how to best focus their efforts.
