normalize Ad volume with content volume
Not as frequently as before but still often, Ads play which are dramatically louder than the broadcast content. This is an annoyance, interferes with other people in the house, and frankly makes me more likely to mute the ad and go do something in a different tab.
Normalizing volume levels with stream average volume or peak volume wouldn't take a huge amount of processing power and would fix the problem entirely. It's required by the US's FCC in other broadcast mediums, but it's really just a quality of life improvement for the viewers and a mark of good production.
A majority of ads on web and TV apps should now have normalized sound. We are still continuing the work on this and will update the status again when it is fully complete!

For what it's worth, I've filed a complaint with the FCC website. This is absurd. I've already got hearing loss from the military and I don't need Twitch commercials(particularly the Monster one) making it worse.

baisser le son des pubs pour qu'elles soient au même volume sonore que les streams

Twitch, please address this. I watch streams at work. When I suddenly get ads, which are dramatically louder than the stream content, I am driven to (a) mute the ads or (b) stop watching completely. Also, you're required to normalize ad volume by law: https://www.fcc.gov/media/policy/loud-commercials

Die neue Huaweii Werbung ist unglaublich laut. Bitte ändert oder entfernt sie einfach. Ich erschrecke mich jedes mal.

This still needs a lot of work. Is it really that hard to adjust the playback volume to the streamer's content average volume?

For the Twitch video player to know the amount of volume is being outputted, this can be via the slider that the viewer has set or the DB the stream averages, cause alot of viewers like to lurk or go to sleep with the favorite content creator on, myself included.. Only to get woken up by the loud Ads being played through the stream, But this is more noticable when your streamer raids somebody your not Subbed to.
Will be an awsome feature to add

This is a fantastic idea! I literally just got one that was so much louder than the video and the other ads. Each ad itself also seems to be at different volumes so its been hard to have twitch on while I work or at night because there is a chance I may get blasted with a loud ad.

I'm about to sue twitch for hearing loss.

Ads are too freaking loud

Please lower the volume on ads. They are always too loud, especially in comparison to the streamer. It is bad enough that it frequently shocks and hurts me when they start, and I have been having an exceptionally negative experience, especially with more vivacious audio.

The Intel Gamer Days ad is like 5 times louder than all the other ads that play. It's deafening loud and plays at least once every ad break for me.

Haha I was about to fill a support ticket about that :)
I don't know this much about USA, but I know many country have strong consumer protection laws regarding volume of advertising on TV (a quick check shows some laws emitted by the FCC). In some countries these laws can also be applied to internet.
Overall it would make the experience more "enjoyable"...
Either you keep the loud advertising or you keep the three 30 seconds ads every 15 minutes ;) -

I was just watching a VOD on Twitch when an ad for Monster and Apex Legends or some such played randomly and it **** near blew my ear drums apart. It was just blasting music straight away and absolutely way too loud - made worse when the stream I was watching was much quieter. This needs to be fixed.
This sort of junk is why some people use ad block.

The AD volume on twitch is absurdly loud compared to the stream. Doesn't matter which stream, the AD is at least 50% louder. I can no longer watch twitch at work or laying down in bed because of this. This was obviously an intentional change as i have never experienced this issue until the last few months. If this continues I am going to have to take twitch off my white list from my ad blocker

The ads played on VODs are still way louder than on live streams and it's really disruptive. There is no reason for that other than annoying your viewers. Can you please fix that? If you did it for ads played during live stream 9 months ago, why is it taking so long to apply it to all the ads played on the site?

Having a streamer set to maybe 25% to suddenly have a ad play at 100% regardless is incredibly disruptive. In the last two days, almost every single ad I have experienced has had this issue.
Re-adjusting the volume in the ad corrects the volume, but as soon as the next ad plays it goes right back to 100%.

Why are your commercials twice the volume of the steamer? Please turn them down it’s annoyingFirst thing in the morning when working from home. Don’t want my neighbors being disturbed. It’s worse with ear buds in, really not trying to go deaf over a Genshin Impact ad. Thanks!

Every time some Ad blast my ears away, out of nowhere, I dislike using twitch more. Guys, just make ads the same volumen as the stream and not 100% volumen every time again. It's really repelling to use twitch.

This is by far the MOST FRUSTRATING experience as a twitch viewer. the number of times my ears have been blown out is ridiculous. This shouldn't even be a feature request - it's a requirement. FIX. IT.
