normalize Ad volume with content volume
Not as frequently as before but still often, Ads play which are dramatically louder than the broadcast content. This is an annoyance, interferes with other people in the house, and frankly makes me more likely to mute the ad and go do something in a different tab.
Normalizing volume levels with stream average volume or peak volume wouldn't take a huge amount of processing power and would fix the problem entirely. It's required by the US's FCC in other broadcast mediums, but it's really just a quality of life improvement for the viewers and a mark of good production.
A majority of ads on web and TV apps should now have normalized sound. We are still continuing the work on this and will update the status again when it is fully complete!

Man... I'm sooo looking for this fix. I use to watch very quiet streams or streamers that just speak quietly and suddenly BOOM MY EARS EXPLODE BECAUSE THE AD IS AT 20000% VOLUME AND WITH SUPER LOUD MUSIC. It's sooo annoying. Sometimes it scares the **** out of me. And I'm forced to decrease the volume a lot, and then, once the ad is finished, increase it again... Every. Time.

They really need to get rid of the Monster/Apex commercial it's stupid loud especially on head/earphones and I see it mostly on the Twitch app which is very annoying and obnoxious.

I just wanna add my support for this. I'm sure there are a lot of people like me that also like to fall asleep watching a chill stream and the ads have become so much louder that it's near impossible to do so. Or you do fall asleep and an ad immediately wakes you up.

Ads in Twitch are the equivalent of a cheap jump scare horror movie. How the volume isn't already fixed is a riddle to me. It's such a big encouragement to use Ad blockers.

That one Monster Energy ad is way too loud, how did you even allow them to push that ad through, I have to mute it every time

I'm starting to notice a lot of Twitch ads are the culprit of the much higher volume across the board with a few non-affiliates in between

Moderate the sound/loudness of ads with the sound/loudness of the stream that's being watched. Even if there is an audio setting to lower the ad volume separately, some ads are horribly loud in comparison to the stream. The drastic difference in volume ruins the experience.

Laying in bed watching some stream, they are playing hearthstone and talking softly and suddenly the ads come on and wake up half of the house. Please fix this asap.

Normalized could be better. The Dr. Martins ad is INSANLY LOUD! It almost blows up my headset and really hurts my ears!

NO ASMR, MUSIC, Meditation, etc hell all Categories should not get ads at all unless the streamer intends them... the old system was great i want to make ad revenue hit a button... it should be reverted back to the streamer in control and not the greed of amazon.. its even worse now with these random LOUD audio ads in these safe space streams...

I completely agree that this is a major issue. I have twitch on while I work and I'm often not looking at the particular stream. I have a huge problem with ads appearing with the volumn much higher than the stream. On top of that, when the stream resumes, the volume is often raised from its original level or muted for some reason.
Ads are annoying as it is but these issues have made them disruptive. I often have to switch to a smaller streamer or someone I'm subbed to when they start. If I'm really inclined to stay on that stream, I'm probably muting the ad to avoid these issues.

Are you perhaps sponsored by hearing aid companies? There is absolutely no reason my ears are blown off my head every time an add starts. Please please please address this because it is horrible

As an ASMR streamer, so many of my viewers have to adjust their headphones a lot for ads or risk damage to their ears. Please allow for lower volumes to protect their ears. Thank you

I can't watch twitch with a headset, because of this. I have screamed out loud before when the ads come on, because it hurts so bad. When watching on pc I turn the sound down by 50% when the ads come on or just cut the sound completly. It is a big issue.
