normalize Ad volume with content volume
Not as frequently as before but still often, Ads play which are dramatically louder than the broadcast content. This is an annoyance, interferes with other people in the house, and frankly makes me more likely to mute the ad and go do something in a different tab.
Normalizing volume levels with stream average volume or peak volume wouldn't take a huge amount of processing power and would fix the problem entirely. It's required by the US's FCC in other broadcast mediums, but it's really just a quality of life improvement for the viewers and a mark of good production.

A majority of ads on web and TV apps should now have normalized sound. We are still continuing the work on this and will update the status again when it is fully complete!

You really need to normalize the volume of ads. Some ads are 3-4 times louder than the stream and blows out my ears. It's actually become a deterrent for me to watch anything on Twitch.
I also think there should be a limit of how many ads can be played. For example, I joined a stream today and it played an ad instantly and then a few minutes later it went to play 7 ads in a row, one of which was extremely loud so I quit the stream.
I'm all for ads and understand it's how twitch makes revenue but something needs tweaking here.

Turn adds down. Way to laud compared to all content. It is a bad user experience. Add sound level should be averaged and that can match the average stream level with the add not going over the max peak of the stream.

"Setting this to a partial release status as the majority of ads on web and TV apps should now have normalized sound."
I had a stream just playing on my system via AirPlay from my iPhone. An ad came on that was INSANELY loud. I have some nice speakers with ribbon tweeters and mids that could have just been damaged due to this. I'm sick just thinking about it. I'm not very happy.

The problem doesn't come fro Twitch, the problem is at some streamers side.
When you first enter twitch, the "normal audio setting" on a video is set to 50%.
Video Ads use this setting. That means if the streamer set his streaming correctly, the output on the video should stay at 50% and he must be heardable.
But many streamers stream at a lower volume setting, so they force the users to change on the video the "audio setting" to 100%".
Here is the problem. Also keep in my some viewers don't have powerful speakers, or just have basic integrated speakers into monitor.
For users in this case, if the streamer stream at a too low audio levl, they can not put audio setting to 150% to correct the bad setting from the streamer.
But if the streamer streams at a correct value (heardable at 50% setting)
Viewers with basics speakers can hear it.
Viewers with amplified speakers can hear it too (by lowering the amplification -

I came here to complain about the audio on the ads being WAY too loud. To the fact where I just threw my headset on the ground as I literally felt as I was about to go deaf. The noise caught me off guard sending me into shock and immediately rendering me paralyzed. I was scared and could have died. Ready to file a lawsuit. Thanks twitch!

Man... I'm sooo looking for this fix. I use to watch very quiet streams or streamers that just speak quietly and suddenly BOOM MY EARS EXPLODE BECAUSE THE AD IS AT 20000% VOLUME AND WITH SUPER LOUD MUSIC. It's sooo annoying. Sometimes it scares the **** out of me. And I'm forced to decrease the volume a lot, and then, once the ad is finished, increase it again... Every. Time.

They really need to get rid of the Monster/Apex commercial it's stupid loud especially on head/earphones and I see it mostly on the Twitch app which is very annoying and obnoxious.

I just wanna add my support for this. I'm sure there are a lot of people like me that also like to fall asleep watching a chill stream and the ads have become so much louder that it's near impossible to do so. Or you do fall asleep and an ad immediately wakes you up.

Ads in Twitch are the equivalent of a cheap jump scare horror movie. How the volume isn't already fixed is a riddle to me. It's such a big encouragement to use Ad blockers.

That one Monster Energy ad is way too loud, how did you even allow them to push that ad through, I have to mute it every time

I'm starting to notice a lot of Twitch ads are the culprit of the much higher volume across the board with a few non-affiliates in between

Moderate the sound/loudness of ads with the sound/loudness of the stream that's being watched. Even if there is an audio setting to lower the ad volume separately, some ads are horribly loud in comparison to the stream. The drastic difference in volume ruins the experience.
