normalize Ad volume with content volume
Not as frequently as before but still often, Ads play which are dramatically louder than the broadcast content. This is an annoyance, interferes with other people in the house, and frankly makes me more likely to mute the ad and go do something in a different tab.
Normalizing volume levels with stream average volume or peak volume wouldn't take a huge amount of processing power and would fix the problem entirely. It's required by the US's FCC in other broadcast mediums, but it's really just a quality of life improvement for the viewers and a mark of good production.
A majority of ads on web and TV apps should now have normalized sound. We are still continuing the work on this and will update the status again when it is fully complete!

The majority of ads that I receive while watching on Twitch are WAY too loud and intrusive. I am currently dealing with tinnitus issues due to these ads so I won't be using twitch until I find a solution (or until Twitch fixes the issue)

This issue seems to be getting even worse! What the heck!? I just had a rice crispie and mcdonalds commercial hurt my ears. I had horrible tinnitus last night from loud commercials (coca-cola, mcdonald and rice crispie commericals stand out as the loudest for me)

It's insane to see how over the years, Twitch says "they're fixing the ad volume"..... YET STILL HAVEN'T FIXED IT!!!!
It goes AGAINST THE FCC REGULATIONS to BLAST people's eardrums out!!!!
Like MANY people agree, it's not that hard to regulate the ad volumes!!!!!!!!!!!! I do not doubt Twitch has something on their side that they can code or whatever, to NOT HAVE THE ADS SCREAMING AT US!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This does NOT get my attention to inquire about the product in the ad!!! It makes me immediately turn the player down & or refresh, as to get back to the video to skip the screaming ad!!!!!Edit: Furthermore, I see the screaming ads want to make more people get adblocker. I have never supported ad blockers, because this is one way streamers get PAID! And it's FREE for us to watch an ad. BUT, if the ad is screaming at us, more people are going to be prompted to get ad blockers!

Pretty much all the ads that play while I watch a stream deafen me because they come on sooo much louder than the stream and most of the time I can't adjust the sound as I am tabbed out in a game. Maybe there's a way to keep ads and the stream with in the same noise range?

The most annoying thing about this is that especially the twitch ad for twitch is the loudest. I'm not even sure what that ad is about exactly cause I always have to jump up immediately to get the remote and mute.
Ridiculous. Infuriating.
Looking for an ad blocker now. -

Why is this worse now and not been fixed yet?

Sometimes and ad plays and the volume increases. WTF.
Who the f*** thought it was a good idea to do ad volume adjustments IN the player?
F*** OFF.

They need to fire whoever is in charge of the ads. They make twitch horrible. The volume blasts my eardrums because, like many twitch viewers, I wear headphones.
The ads should be the same volume as the stream (as much as possible) and they should be skippable after x seconds. We won't skip ads that are relevant and useful.
Instead, we are shown the same ads over and over and the ads are hurting our eardrums. Fire the former network executive or whatever person is currently in charge of ads and hire someone who understands the internet.

Almost every add now is way louder than the content. It scares the **** out of me sometimes and I find myself scrambling to hit the mute button asap. This is quite ridiculous and should be fixed to match the volume of the content. I don't mind ads but this really frustrates me.

I want to make a new post for this, because there is no way you have released a 'partial release' fix for this. The volume of ads on your site is obnoxiously loud. The majority of ads that play are 4 times the volume of the streamers content. It puts me off watching streams on this site, and I feel sorry for audiences of quieter streamers, too. Please PLEASE fix this. I do feel like this should be a top priority.

Please fix this. It's ridiculous. Even on the lowest volume, the majority of ads are obnoxiously loud. It's really annoying trying to listen to a quiet streamer, too. Kind of puts me off watching them because of the ads. =/

Currently the ads that play are considerably louder than the content on Twitch. There must be a way for ads to be played at the same sound level (an average of the stream perhaps), as the stream.

Most of the ads on Twitch are obnoxiously loud, but I just had a UFC ad that was just ridiculous! I understand that ads are usually louder than the content (though this usually gives me a negative view on the advertised good or service) but the UFC ad hurt my ears so bad! I panicked and quickly pulled the wireless buds out of my ears but they were still ringing for hours after.

I'm sick and tired of ads scaring me half to death by instantly being far louder then the stream I was watching or listening to. It is ruining the experience for me as a viewer, and it is making me hate whatever is being advertised. No one benefits from this stupidity. You'd think ads were unpopular enough without this problem.

It's not just that the ad volume is high, the ad is setting the volume slider higher. When the ad is over and back to the stream, it is uncomfortably loud and then requires me to return the volume back to where I had it set.

Please lower the volume of the ads. I already have a tinnitus and I don't want it to get worse, by getting my eardrums blasted. The last comment was made in september and the ads are still really loud.

I had an ad for a Coke energy drink a few minutes ago, and my ears are still ringing. I can barely hear anything. I hope I have not suffered any lasting damage.

Hello. I am writing this concerning a video ad on Twitch, specifically one for an LG UltraGear Gaming Monitor. The advertisement video of this product has video scenes from a game, and to this plays EXTREMELY loud "fast" music, that starts with NO warning. I am autistic and have gotten several seizures when this specific ad comes on. If I'm not fast enough at ripping my earphones out of my ears when it starts playing. I understand that you might think this is silly, or my problem, as I can just turn down the volume.
However, all other ads I've seen on this website are a lot quieter in volume, it's just this one that sticks out. I also realize you probably can't change this now, or that you might think this issue lies with the company who made the ad (which it might), however I thought I should voice my concern. Hopefully you can take people who suffer from audio triggered seizures into the consideration in the future, when deciding what ads you allow to be played on your website,
regardless of who is "at fault" for this specific video advertisement. Perhaps you could add a warning before an ad plays?
Thank you for reading.
