Chat banner for when streamer is playing ads/on break
I know ads has been a big "hot topic" for Twitch in the recent years. And I think Twitch has failed to incentivize streamers to play ads.
I know many streamers who try to go on breaks to play ads, but some people who enter the stream for the first time may not realize if the streamer is afk while sitting through ads. And sometimes the ads are 6-9 ads in a row (possibly from the streamer running an ad for 3+ minutes and whatnot at that time). The chat is cleared when people first arrive in streams, so even if the streamer has a bot command or has wrote in chat they are on a break, the new person arriving has no way to know. Maybe the viewers coming in would stick around through those lengthy ads if they knew "oh the streamer is taking a break at the moment so I'll wait through this to actually check out their content".
I know there is the thing where stream can pop up above chat during an ad.. but one it really doesn't always work. Two I think there's no point of that if the screen is super tiny at the top of chat and there is no sound anyway. (I'm not a mobile user and haven't looked very hard to see if this is a thing on for mobile).
Maybe something of a little pop up at the top of the chat screen to let chat know the streamer is on break could be something to help incentivize ads but also let those who may not be directly watching the stream or have chat popped out to see that they aren't missing anything happening in the stream.
I'm thinking like how there is a pop up at the top of chat for hype trains, multiple gifted subs, polls, etc. It could even include a timer that the streamer selects so it stays at the top of chat for however long they are on break for.
I don't think this is THE answer for getting streamers to play ads during a stream and whatnot. But might be more incentivizing then the current situation.
I have no idea if this could be feasible, if people would like it, if it's even a good idea, or if it would actually make streamers feel better about running ads and taking breaks. But hey at least it's some kind of suggestion.
