Streamers/Creators should be able to opt-out of military recruitment ads
Streamers should have the ability to opt-out of certain ads, particularly military recruitment ads. Some creators may have a younger audience. The streamer should reserve the right to protect that audience. The military ad complex is already vast and has deep roots within Twitch. If a streamer does not want that sort of content on their channel, they should be able to block it. Additionally, this option should be able to be seen publicly. Parents who check their children’s activity might want to be able to know a streamer opts out of Military recruitment ads targeted at minors.

Even better would be to make this an opt-in, rather than an opt-out, option, focusing these ads into the channels of streamers (and viewers) who are receptive to them, and only those.

As a veteran and streamer, I support this idea.

Military recruiters lie and deceive about what the military is really like. They should not have access to young minds!

This request shouldn't require much deliberation. Keep the military out of gaming!

Military spouse over here, my partner joined when he was in his mid twenties and even still the recruiters framed things toward him as if recruiting a high school kid.
He’s out now but our gaming and his twitch time is sacred. Doesn’t need to be muddied with the propaganda aimed at indoctrinating a younger generation into enthusiasm for imperialist violence.

Military service should not be conflated with other products, services, jobs, or opportunities that are similarly advertised on twitch, this gives a false representation of what a military career actually entails, which is the risk of armed conflict and mortality in a very real sense.
In an environment that caters to a majority market of young consumers, who has very likely played or is currently watching war games simulation, this is very fraught territory.
At the very least this would help cater towards veterans who no longer wish to be involved with that world, whether that reason is medical or preferential.
At a very base level this is nothing more substantial than encouraging more effective targeted advertising, so there's your financial motive if that's what it takes.
Immediate action is the correct course. I hope you make the right decision.

Joining the military is not what recruiters make it out to be. To convince young minds that selling away years of their lives, irrespective of the damage they will cause to others or themselves, all in the hopes of a reasonable paycheck, college benefits, or decent healthcare, defers some measure of honor or respectability; what does it say about America when we usher humans into this assembly line, where our children find the one of the few opportunities available to all Americans: the opportunity to kill poor non-Americans.

Seriously, Twitch is a gateway to impressionable young people and should not be used to funnel them into institutions they do not yet fully understand.

I tend to reload when I see them, as a viewer. I would love it for the streamer to be able to get rid of these predatory ads.

Yes, let's cull the military's horrible, exploitative recruitment practices right here. They are taking advantage of children and Twitch is enabling it. Sickening.

couldn't agree more...as a former San Francisco Juvenile Public Defender I learned early on that our youths' brains don't fully develop until the age of 25...no recruiting ads in any space and especially not ones that appeal to our youth...

Get military ads off of channels and streams appealing to youth as young as 13?!?!?!?!?
