Remove mid-roll ads
Cancel the testing of mid-roll ads on affiliate and partner channels. Your viewer base doesn't want this and creators don't want ads playing out of their control interrupting their content
As we announced on Twitter earlier, we have concluded the mid-rolls experiment. Thank you all for your comments and the incredible momentum you’ve contributed to this topic.
There have been many great suggestions, both in this thread and in the Ads forum that we have taken back to the team for consideration. It’s important to know that ads are essential to the future of Twitch, however we want to make things as painless as possible. Please still upvote, share, comment, and create new ideas in this forum so that we may continue to benefit from all of your passionate influence.

there is a reason why i dont watch smaller streamers, twitch is making it more and more unlikely smaller streamers will grow, with its constant lets give more and more ads
i dont need a 3-6 minute add break every 30 minutes twitch, NO ONE DOES, and this, is just going to make it worst

This is LIVE content. There is no way for twitch to be able to tell when it is a "good" time to play an ad. Even if there was, TWITCH is not the one making the content so they shouldn't be the arbiter of whether it is a appropriate to insert an ad!
In the announcement tweet you say "These ads will directly support the Creator...". If you want to support the creator STOP taking control away from them, damaging their content, and driving viewers away.
Creators have an ad button that THEY can press if they deem it fit. As far as I am aware they even have the option (OPTION not requirement) of playing ads automatically if they think that is best for their stream.

This isn't fair to the viewers OR the streamers. My friend already does preroll ads before he starts his stream AND every hour to prevent these forced ads from ruining the stream for non-subscribers. It's already bad enough when they get hit with a random amount of ads, whether it be one or even up to NINE! These midroll ads are such pay wall BS, they won't make more people subscribe, and streamers are going to lose more and more viewers because of it.

"And, we’ve enabled Picture-by-Picture in all channel categories, so viewers can enjoy an uninterrupted ad-viewing experience."
Viewers enjoy uninterrupted Creator Content viewing, not uninterrupted ad-viewing.

This feature just makes one single statement: Twitch thinks that whatever adverts they show is more important than anything any content creator on the platform could be putting on broadcast in that moment.
Viewers who value your adverts will most likely stick to broadcasters which value the ads as well - and those broadcasters already have the means to display ads under their control, on their terms, for their support (as you've stated), and when it does not clash with any of the content they broadcast. This feature is a straight downgrade for both broadcasters (who lose control and will be less inclined to display manual ad-breaks in addition to the ads they know their viewers are already forced to watch = miss out on content) and viewers.
I'm sure your viewers will be delighted that instead of the gripping finale of the currently broadcast match of Fortnite, Fall Guys or League of Legends, they instead get to see the same movie clip that they already saw 419 times in the last two weeks. What an enrichment to the viewing experience indeed. (this paragraph was sarcasm.)

Should be up to the creator to determine when adverts are placed in their content. At least provide a radio button in the creator panel so we can opt out of this, given these are apparently supposed to support us rather than Twitch.

Having this happen during a single stream is bad enough. What if it is a race or competition? I have two clips of this happening: check this tweet for the first. https://twitter.com/wolfman2000/status/1305720228442189824
This "feature" needs to be removed YESTERDAY.

This is a terrible idea, the content creator will be interupted and the viewer: if I want to support someone. I will support someone!

Such an awesome and magnificent way to treat your users Twitch (that was sarcasm, in case you couldnt tell). I have recently had to unsub from the streams I supported due to family bereavement and a change in finances. I already feel like scum for this, because the content creators I supported are excellent, and deserve the financial support.
Heres a novel idea, instead of paying millions out to people like Ninja, Dr Disrespect, and whoever else the flavour of the month with tens of thousands of viewers is, how about you use that money to improve the entire platform for everyone.
We the viewers dont feel valued by you. We the content creators, do not feel valued by you. Instead, we feel used, disrespected, your cash cow, just the means to fill your pockets with tons of cash.
We the viewers do not interact with adverts. The whole reason I actually switched from traditional television, to streaming, be it on Twitch, or Netfix, or previously Prime, was to get away from the forced advertisements rammed in our faces every 15-20 minutes. Serve me an advert when I come into stream midway through, via a raid, or just because I have been late to stream start for whatever reason? I'm sorry, I just leave. And I feel bad for leaving, because the content creators I watch regularly on Twitch, are also friends of mine, and they deserve my support even though I can no longer subscribe.
If you want to cull small streamers, if that is your intention, under flowery language and promises of giving a cut of the revenue to streamers, then you are proceeding in the correct direction.

Is it not enough to force pre-roll ads? Affiliate and partner channels doesn't want ads, the don't want the pre-roll ads and the don't want the mid-roll ads! Everyone hate the ad situation on Twitch and the add more ads? It's all about the money... Amazon is such a poor, little company, the really need the money.

Do not implement the add change.
Twitch is live, therefore a mid-rolled randomized add will remove content from the viewer. Imagine getting an add right before Timthetadman won in Fall Guys, or right at the end of a tournament that you have watched. But also imagine the stream talking about very serious subjects, such as mental health and suicide prevention and suddenly there is an add. This can be extremely harmful to individuals that might desperately be needing that support.
It would be one thing to implement mid-adds on vods since that is already recorded content, similar to youtube, and the viewer would not miss out on content. But twitch is live and it would ruin the experience and possibly harm individuals.
It would also ruin the ASMR category completely. Even if the add is normalized, it would 100% ruin the experience for the viewer and once again, ASMR is often used when people experience insomnia, panic anxiety or depression and a sudden add could possibly trigger or hinder the viewers process of handling their feelings.
As a final note, the streamer does not know which adds are being played. There are a plethora of companies that many streamers do not support, for example by having a record of ****** harassment, worker mistreatment and anti-LGBTQAI+ statements. I as a streamer would never, ever want such an add play on my channel since me, and the community, do not support the company and their views.
Do not implement this change, instead allow us to continue to choose, either pre-rolls (which limits the amount of exposure of unwanted adds and does not interrupt the content) or streamer triggered adds.
You have over 11k comments and 6k re-tweets on your twitter announcment where over 80% of them are strongly against your implementation, one of these individuals being Asmondgold who is a top 15 streamer on the platform.
Listen to your community, do not implement this.

This is a killer.
Uncontrollable Mid-Roll ads are simply a no-go.
As Streamer I can only support all the comments about crashing into interaction and making some cool modern stream experiences impossible. As a Twitch-Extension-Dev I see a problem as one of our Extensions we are currently developing (Fantasy Fight LIVE) is a live dueling system and when the viewer has 30 seconds ads in mid of a fight it could cause a viewer to lose because of that ad.
Also this system can be used for giveaways and in combination with "missing" mid-roll ads there would be an advantage for subscribers which is in my eyes illegal. As a Viewer I am already ****** off by the ads before a stream can be viewed as you cannot skip them.
Ads are sometimes lasting ages (I don't want to see an ad for 30 seconds when I already own the product or got no interest in it so why should I be forced to watch more than the time needed to see what it is about?) Take a peek on YouTube. After 5 Seconds you can skip an ad. But Twitch is like creating 1980's technology. All force to the business... No power to the people. -

How much more money do I have to give you before you stop showing ads all the time?? First it was having to pay for Prime, then it was subscribing to streamers, soon there will be even more Twitch Premium ideas to pay like extra to stop all ads or something

There are no two ways about it; this implementation will kill my channel. I run interactive quiz/game shows using the Twitch API (so people literally type/whisper their answers which are then processed by the game). Imagine watching WWTBAM and an ad-break comes on just as they're about to reveal the answer to the million pound question. If this is planned for, that can be a real tension raising moment. But if it's unplanned, non-subbed viewers are going to come back having missed the enormous moment of hype.
Moreover, if you've got 10 people in a quiz and half of them have an ad pop-up, they're going to miss out on a question which is a terrible experience for them and gives an unfair advantage to subbed players.
RNG ads on a platform that thrives on spontaneous moments of excitement is about the most nonsensical idea I've ever come across, and you would be incredibly foolish to continue with this implementation. There's maybe a twisted logic that it might encourage people to subscribe to streamers so as to avoid this, but many people aren't in a position to be able to do that. Moreover, most streamers I know do so because they love their communities and enjoy the experience, with the money being a bit of a perk rather than the be all and end all. Also, consider somebody who follows many channels; are they now being forced to subscribe to all of them to continue the same level of experience? Any argument suggesting that this "supports content creators" is incredible disingenuous, given the amount of revenue that is generated by ads for small/middling streamers and the powers that be know this.
DO NOT implement this ridiculous, absurd, stupid, content-killing idea.

More ways to opt out of ads.
Twitch has been rolling ads to the point where streamer interaction is broken. Viewers leave because they miss content. Streamers interact less because their viewers are missing their comments. -
PharEwings commented
Viewers do not like the ads and are quite open about this fact.

This can impact a lot of huge and smaller streamers. Even with paying the ads to the streamers, it's the worst experience that newcomers and people that previously watch the streams. This is honestly the worst idea that I had seen and heard

This will pretty much kill all channels streaming music, ASMR, podcasts, and talk shows - channels where uninterrupted audio is crucial.

I’m a small streamer. If non-subs come to my stream and get bombarded with ads, will they think I’m doing it purposefully to get the extra couple of cents and leave? This doesn’t benefit me in any way and will limit my potential to grow organically on the platform.
