1. Ad placements

   when watching a streamer its frustrating to have an ad appear during a critical moment of gameplay, having the ad displayed full screen and the streamer on a very tiny screen + cutitng out of their audio is not a great experiance.

   imagine watching your favourite tv show and its at a very tense critical part of the show just as the moment is about to happen an advert takes over your screen and the tv show is shrinked to a tiny box, you can see whats happening but you cant hear what is being said because of this advert, so you rewind your tv show and you re-watch that moment with audio but you have already seen what has happened so the first time so your initial reaction to the scenario is ruined...

   I would propose that rather than putting the streamer on a tiny screen you put an ad or multiple ads in the bottom right of the stream whilst maintaining thier audio so you dont miss that critical moment or you could place a window ontop of top of the chat with an ad, you could also use the chat to promote ads aswell, links to products being posted every 5-10 minutes, or over-laying chat completly with a window of an ad so that way you get the best of both worlds, with chat you can read and catch back up where as the stream you need to clip it and go back 30seconds to see what happend then you are constantly trying to play catch up with the stream and then when you are about to catch up more ads are displayed. its really ruining the user experiance and i hope you take these idea's on board and implement a better solution

2. Ad placement

   I love twitch. But when it comes down to listening to the action and having a conversation with the streamer and it is interrupted by an ad. It becomes abusive on Twitch's part. Perhaps if an ad was displayed at the bottom of the streamer's view portal (the player). that was stationary as the page was loaded in. It becomes a .jpeg. It is NOT a blockable item. I am tired of this "ad abuse" being 3 or 4 30-second ads in a row. Whats the point of even coming here to watch a stream at this point? I'd like to think that being a former server operator i know the cost of what a 14-blade server costs to run per month, and the bandwith hog that they are. but this seriously renders the service unusable.

5. Please give an option for traditional ads instead of these awful "stream display ads"

   I really, really hate when these new ads change the screen size of the stream, it is incredibly intrusive. I would much prefer just a 30 second ad and then back to the stream.

   If people prefer them then I disagree. I would never engage with an advertiser that so annoyingly changes my view settings.

6. These ads are getting ridiculous

   What was the idea with ads that automatically play in the middle of a stream. Here I am enjoying watching my favorite streamer during a big moment then all of a sudden they are not only minimized to a super small box in the top right, but the sound to their stream is cut off in favor of the ad. Twitch said during their new ads this would not happen and they also said the ads would be non-disruptive by appearing in a small box at the bottom of the stream... this is clearly not the case. Who thought these ads would be a good idea? They are getting in the way of watching streamers which is what we are all here to do. Wtf is this? Its getting to the point that I don't want to use twitch because they are trying too hard to get ads in the stream. Stop with these BS ads please.

8. Notify affiliates of the introduction of the SDA model, and any other changes to advertising practices, via e-mail prior to implementation.

   I discovered the existence of SDA not as an Affiliate, but as a viewer. I was surprised to see one of my favorite streamers running an inline ad - only to find out they were TOTALLY UNAWARE of the ad being run on their stream! After some investigation I discovered the existence of the SDA program. I like the program and I see a lot of potential for Twitch and its streamers to benefit from the program, but it is highly invasive to do this type of advertising without notifying streamers independently and prior to launch. I'm glad to see Twitch branching out and exploring more options to benefit their platform and broadcasters, but the opacity of this deployment leaves much to be desired. I spent a long time looking into these "phantom ads" before discovering this program, and that was a lot of stress that could have been avoided by simply sending out a blanket e-mail.

   Furthermore, Twitch did send a blanket e-mail on Sep 13 concerning the new Ads Manager, and there is no mention of the deployment or implementation of Stream Display Ads. A simple heads-up would have prevented this feedback!

   PLEASE, BE MORE TRANSPARENT ABOUT CHANGES TO ADVERTISING AND NOTIFY YOUR BROADCASTERS BEFORE YOU DEPLOY THESE CHANGES. I like SDA's and I like having more options for streamers and viewers. I do not like surprise changes that alter my broadcast inline.

9. Replace fullscreen prerolls with new Stream Display Ads

   Full-screen pre-rolls are a huge obstacle with user experience and streamer discoverability. Users do not want to browse new, unknown streamers because watching a fullscreen 30s ad before getting to check out a streamer is annoying. It's a huge deterrent so users tend to rely on their go-to streamer. Replacing the forced fullscreen preroll with a Stream Display Ad instead will encourage users to once again check out new streamers.

   This change would be a massive improvement for both viewers and streamers.

10. Reformat the Ad Structure.

    Content obtrusive ads are bad for live form content. They work for YouTube and Television where the content can be put on a break until the advertisement is done, however for Twitch the ads will often block important content especially when first joining a stream.

    1. Pre-roll ads need to use unobtrusive forms of advertisement. Since pre-roll ads are the only ads forced to run without authorization from the streamer, they are the ads that most likely will directly affect viewing content the streamer does not want you to miss. As a result these ads will discourage viewers from watching, especially when having to click through streamers to see exactly what is going on with their content.

    2. The pop out window for the stream when an obtrusive ad is being played is extremely small, having an alternative viewer for this would be greatly appreciated. This could include allowing for use of multiple monitors if available, or an alternative viewer like full screen and theater modes which allow for the ad remain large but give a larger section of screen real estate to the stream as well. These should be optional toggles.

11. Disabled Accessibility: please put ads beneath the video player without resizing stream video

    Can Twitch please display the ads beneath the video player without the motion transition resizing the stream video to be more disability accessible for people with visual sensitivities and for people who rely on closed captioning/ subtitles?

12. Stream displays ads used instead of prerolls or even midrolls but keep them for VODS

    use Stream display ads instead of prerolls on live content ,keep prerolls on VODS my experience on twitch lately is that i dont go looking for new content creators much due to prerolls annoyance . you cant treat twitch like a Video on demand service you have to treat it as a live service , and you don't interrupt a live service with ads , SDAs are a great way not to interrupt the live broadcast . and midrolls controlled by the content creators as well . the issue with midrolls is that sometimes the midrolls are longer than the break the streamer takes this needs to be addressed as well

    Where the black space is on Stream Display Ads, let broadcasters upload their own custom images depending on if the content is live, vod, or a rerun.

    Would help with channel branding, call to actions, and clear identity of content.

14. Disable preroll ads for users with Stream Display Ads enabled

    With the testing of Stream Display Ads, many creators are excited to begin using them as an alternative to disruptive full video advertisements. However, because preroll ads are still displaying, the main problem being voiced in my community still isn't being addressed: the disruptive nature of preroll ads.

    To quote my friend Kit, a fellow streamer:
    "Those [preroll ads] are so frustrating, especially hopping into a stream from a raid. Missing all the hi's and thank you's and welcomes because I gotta see a 90sec ad about totino's"

    Stream Display Ads are a great alternative to full video ads, but only when they CAN be used as an alternative. Please give us the option to fully utilize these instead of forcing disruptions to our content.

16. Please use banner ads instead of random midrolls

    Nobody wants to watch random ads that block out the stream. Picture-in-picture doesn't work if we only see but not hear the stream during ads. Banners would solve the problem - you get to give us more ads but the stream doesn't get interrupted. I repeat: nobody needs random ads that block the stream. it's not only disruptive for the viewers, but also for the streamer. bad idea, really.

    Just wanted to update this thread that we are doing an experiment right now with Stream Display Ads!

    These are less disruptive ads that allow viewers to see and hear Creators while being displayed. Creators will receive ad revenue for each SDA shown.

17. Please don't block the video stream with Ads

    In the middle of watching someone's exciting steam, an ad pops up covering the entire video while chat continues. Chat is then going crazy because something awesome just happened, yet we were unable to see it because an ad was covering the video stream. What a disappointment.

    Make the ad go into a corner with sound or something, but please do not block the whole image. That's the reason why we are here, to watch the steamers. You want the ads for monetary gain, fine, but find a happy medium where you don't disappoint your customers. Badly placed ads drive more people away than keeps them.
