Free inactive usernames after a time period.

We’re reviewing this. Curious how long you think would be ok.

Glad to see I'm not the only one suffering from this. I have to use L's around my name because I can't use it without since the account exists but is not active. No followers, no recent content, no about me, nothing at all. I don't like that they haven't said anything about this. It should be like 6 months like support once told me but here we are TWO YEARS LATER, and the results are still the same.

This is hateful you are disrespecting us Affiliates, and Partners, we should get the rights since of sharing exclusive VODs (exclusivity rule) with Twitch, and are restricted for 24 hrs to reupload (reuploading someone who is going live often is really difficult), I mean you are already getting huge splits of revenue by us, then you disrespect even our names in cases if someone of us dies?
Recycle your customers which are non-affiliates, our usernames stay our usernames as so in Steam, and YouTube, just because some ducks disrespect us eagles it does not mean you need to listen to that democracy, instead, respect the moral of respecting the ones who gain you the money with their efforts.
Only recycle non-affiliates after the 1-year rule. -

yea right, creative freedom on twitch? it's been years and they already claimed to have launched the recycling of usernames. It's been so long but I think I read somewhere that if you search and go to the inactive channel that makes it active.... the chance of nobody searching your name on the website you broadcast from for a full year is obviously zero. so these inactive channels remain active if you do, catch 22. fix your sh!t twitch.

This is definitely a huge pain point for me. My friend has the account name I want, is willing to give it to me, deactivated their account so it says "Sorry. Unless you’ve got a time machine, that content is unavailable." but there's no actual recycling happening for years and years. Why not recycle small accounts that have been deactivated? You could send a warning email to original owners so they have a chance to act on the name for their inactive account.
I think a year is more than enough for a deactivated account, and a few years is plenty for an inactive account. A simple email would let someone keep it if they want to.

I have been wanting this username for years because it's my gamertag I've had for a while. I play on Xbox Series X and I just want my username to be @zukasu on twitch. Currently it's @zukasuu I really don't want to ruin my gamertags uniqueness because of some inactive account.

I still don't know how the accounts created in 2008 and 2013 are still maintained.
According to the terms and conditions, you have to access it at least once every six months, but it's amazing how an account without a list of followers can be maintained so far. -

Even now, many bots are unable to get the ID each person wants. The same goes for me. Please give me a good idea.

Twitch has been able to create IDs with individuality for many people since the late 2000s. However, if you access your ID regularly, you can use it to create your ID in 2013 by exploiting the fact that your special ID is maintained, and there are numerous IDs that you don't use and access it regularly without any activity. As a result, there is a problem that the name you use cannot be used due to the above. Please come up with a good idea on Twitch.

Same as most of the others, trying to get a name that doesn't get recycled. Or the recycling program doesn't work at all.

There are already suggestions about usernames on this website. It's better to upvote existing topics instead of creating new ones :

Recycle names more often maybe I am trying to take over the name BRYNX since they aren't active. If we could recycle names more it'd be much appreciated.

I'm just concerned that if they allow freeing of usernames it could open the doors up to spoofing or harmful impersonation of the previous account/account owner. Thoughts on this?

Im full for this iHatchiXBL, iv been requesting a acc to be deleted for over a year now , dannylmusics your comment is trash , why should someone own a name who does nothing with it ? imagine I owned the name Nike but just kept it because i had no intention to do anything with it ? Death or inactive should be a major factor , in business if you purchase a business name you need to show proof to the government its active with financial statements or they delete it . Why should i work my *** off for my channel who has the same name as someone whos inactive?
