password requirements
The password requirements are truly insane for the average user. I shouldn't need a password so secure that it'd take years to *****, I need a password I can remember. This is a streaming site.
If a streamer wants a super secure password, they can make that themselves, but imposing insane guidelines on people who just want to follow a few people is super annoying.

made me a make a 12 character password with 2 numbers and 4 symbols. are we serious here?

A password with more than 10 characters, uppercase, lowercase, numbers, yet the password is still too weak. Cmon Twitch, do something about it! If it's all right on every other side on the internet, it should also be good enough here.

This is insane.... I had to reset my password to sign in so I could vote on this and took me like 30 mins to come up with a new password that I will never remember...

These password requirements make accounts less secure! Because I can't work out a password that will satisfy twitch I wont change my password and have to leave on the pwned one.

Seriously, please quit it with the ridiculous password requirements. The only way I can manage nowadays if I am forced to change my password is to auto generate one but then I can't log on on other devices and it is a general pain to deal with. Like how can it be that a literal bank pin number is just 4 numbers but twitch needs all this junk to make it work?

THis is ridiculous 11 Characters, several numbers, a symbol, Multiple capitals and lower case and "This is far too easily guessable." ....15 characters with 4 more numbers, "Too easily guessable." 19 with 8 more numbers total, "This is a WEAK password" ...Dude, 11 Characters -alone- is 39,916,800 combinations if one was to try to brute force it, ...and -every other site- including ones that are f ar more worried about se curity -accept my 11 character password- ..What the **** Twitch.

100% agreed. The level of security measures in place for what's simply a streaming service is insane. I have never encountered this hassle from any other online service, including those where it would make sense to have extra layers of protection in place.
Twitch seems to operate under the impression that it's a significantly more critical service than it actually is. Again, it's a streaming service; people aren't logging into their minds.

Bump. I have the same password for a lot of different (useless) websites. Twitch is the only one where 11 characters with a capital and symbol are not enough. Even if someone got in, I have 2FA, and even then I have nothing valuable within my twitch account.

Password is only working if I repeat the numbers twice for example; 34563456 registers as a strong password but something like 3456deLuw$ is too simplistic, adding symbols or capitalized letters is actually lowering the complexity. Not just annoying but nonfunctional.

You guys make it WAY too hard to change your password. It doesn’t help me if I have to make some needlessly complicated password that I can’t remember. The password I wanted to use was completely fine and secure. Please fix your arbitrary and meaningless password qualifications. I’m perfectly capable of coming up with a good password.

Using a password manager solves this. Saying that other services that SHOULD have stronger measures in place that dont isnt a good excuse to reduce every other service's security measures.
-
madhatterciesus commented
Saying my password "could be stronger" is no excuse to stop me using it. Also, it's literally going from Weak to Fair because I REMOVE a single character from it. Logic please?
-
Sakitoshi commented
lol, i just changed 1 (one) symbol of my "weak" password to another symbol and it was "fair".
this is a joke. -

It sucks to log into twitch as I have to enter a 28 letter password and then enter a 2fa code. What’s the point of 2fa if we also have to use insanely long passwords.
-
just_matt6 commented
I tried my password that i use for all my accounts, which was marked as too easy to guess.
However, I found that merely typing the password twice (ex: 123123 rather than 123) made it a strong password. -
Himble42 commented
Agree with everything said here.
After playing around got it to accept a password which is actually far weaker that the one I wanted to use, just longer. Seems to like longer passwords.
If this is the requirement, at least say so on the page. -

Your password requirements are absolutely bonkers, ESPECIALLY when you have an authenticator app. All youre doing in making people come up with absurd complex passwords that will be forgotten, leading to a continual cycle of resetting. A password containing multiple capital letters, numbers, AND punctuation should be FAR MORE than required. Unreal. My bank doesnt even require this level of complexity.

Came here just to say this, stupid requirements without any sense.
There even is the 2fa!
Let security experts decide stuff.
The fact that twitch got hacked is your problem, think about your own security instead of forcing us to change passwords, this is a useless streaming application not a bank.whoever decided this is probably not even in IT but some kind of manager that thinks he knows everything because he read a news article about passwords

this password is too easy to guess. I think twitch has a super quantum computer or something
