Free inactive usernames after a time period.
We’re reviewing this. Curious how long you think would be ok.
I've been dying for a user name thats never been used and has had 0 Followers And 0 Videos since it was on JTV. There's a lot of names people would definitely love to get their hands on \ o /
I think 1 Year of no login or any activity would be a good rate.
I agree, having inactive usernames only takes up name that we could otherwise use on active channels
I personally wouldn't be upset if my name was reset after a year of inactivity. It would be best to leave names for as long as possible though, and only remove them from people (that qualify) if someone requests the name.
The problem with that is, how long do we wait? What if an old Twitch user decides to come back, but suddenly find their name is gone? I don't think that should happen, however, I do think that JTV usernames should open up, and any deactivated accounts should become available again.

I am quite fond of this as I have re-made my account twice due to the name I really want is taken and have NO form of activity on it. Basically I have been forced to use something I don't want. If this would go through and accounts within a reasonable time were deleted/released i would be one of the first to do a personal request to change my name. (1 letter variable)

I do understand that paid name changes could be a big problem. But with JTV closed and all the old usernames inactive. Why not free those up? I would start my stream fresh again if I could have the name I wanted originally from the JTV days.
Freeing up all the Justin.tv usernames would be cool as well, since they can no longer be used.
I think this is an interesting idea. I think it would be good for already developed personalities looking to create a hub on Twitch but some troll already took their name.
I'd definite have the system send the user an e-mail a week before deleting the account, though.
