Google Authentication for 2 Factor Authentication
I would love to be able to have the option for Google Authentication to be integrated into your current 2-Factor Authentication system. Hypothetically, if I were to misplace or brake my phone, it would take some time for me to be able get a new device in which time I would not be able to reenter my Twitch account. I mod for channels, work with creators and would feel awful if I was not able to continue supporting and working for them as I do.
It was also just be an ease of access thing, where I have all of my current 2F Authentication already with Google Authentication, so as this isn't necessarily an essential facet to this system, it would be a nice addition to this system.
Exciting news friends!
This is live! We are excited to announce that you can now use whatever 2fa authenticator you would like!

I wrote a guide on how to get around this in the meantime: https://medium.com/@dubistkomisch/set-up-2fa-two-factor-authentication-for-twitch-with-google-authenticator-or-other-totp-client-f19af32df68a

Annnd a bump.
Now that 2FA is required to be able to cash any money out, it's REALLY time Twitch switched to the open standard and away from Authy which is stupidly proprietary. If you're going to force us to use 2fa, give us the choice in app we use, and give us the CHOICE as to whether we want to provide Authy with our personal information or not. Frankly, forcing people to provide personal information to a 3rd party is stupid security-wise. Using a plug-in is not security-wise. Upgrade to follow Amazon.

Not supporting google auth is literal cancer.

Desperate need for an open 2FA format. I have to have Authy ONLY for Twitch. Even Amazon uses an open format for Authentication, yet Twitch does not. Twitch is the only site I've ever encountered that has Authy specific 2FA.

Please Allow us to Google Authenticator. This will simplify things instead of having multiple apps on the phone. No phone can't get in.

Still waiting on this to be a proper thing. This needs to happen. I do not want 10 different authenticators when I can have one.

Why does twitch not allow the scanning of QR codes to allow choice in 2FA apps? I myself prefer an open source android app, but every other service I use allow you choice by giving QR codes or some other method to choose.

I just enabled 2FA and was kind of shocked to be forced to use some proprietary technology instead of open standards for security.

How has this not been added? It's been two years now

I also support this idea, as I see absolutely no reason to trust Authy.

Not having Google Auth is frustrating and I know that one day I'll end up locked out of my account for a few hours or a day when I don't have cell service for whatever reason. Frustrating to be forced to use authy.

please support standard OTP. Authy is really annoying.

It's been over two years guys.. what is more important than user security that has taken you two years to implement? This is the single biggest black mark for Twitch vs. YouTube. The competition solved this problem years ago. In fact, so did Amazon. What's taking Twitch so long to implement basic TOTP via QR authentication?

Seriously, this was suggested over a year ago and still hasn't been implemented? Do you even care about the wants and needs of your viewers and streamers AT ALL?
