  1. Enhancement Request:
    User can have the functionality/ability to create and change an Alias Name, separate from the User/Streamer name as long as the user has a Twitch channel.

    For example
    User Name: JohnConnor
    URL: www.twitch.tv/johnconnor
    Alias: Jonnor

    The Alias Jonnor can be displayed in the profile, in his channel and the Channel Explorer list on the Twitch homepage. And this is optional, the user can display the username as usual, or the Alias name.

    This is very similar to social networking platforms, where users have their usernames and nicknames apart.

    In addition, to avoid problems in the community, aliases must…

  2. As it currently stands, Twitch Partners are not allowed to request Partner Support to change their alias to anything below 4 characters. I know that I along with multiple other Twitch Partners have ran into this issue when contacting Twitch support to try and remove extra numbers or special characters from our names. It has also been equally as frustrating for me and these other Twitch Partners when these name changes are continuing to be offered to the biggest Partners on the platform, but smaller or mid sized Partners are still rejected when they ask.

    My suggestion is to allow…

  3. 2 months ago, I changed all of my usernames for privacy reasons. Now, I’ve changed every username back with the exception of twitch. Twitch is apparently only allowing you to change to new usernames, and if you want your old one back, you have to wait for SIX MONTHS. This is absolutely insane. This is completely awful for my branding, and I’m sure is for others. Having a unified brand everywhere is so important for establishing an online identity, and requiring half of a year if you want a previous username back is an absolutely ludicrous policy, especially when this…

  4. Per the twitch policy, inactive usernames are recycled every 6 months. With that said, I have been vigilant for 3 years, attempting to acquire a username that has been inactive since its existence. This username is not someone that all ppl would want. its actually very similar to my twitch username minus 2 letters.

    I would like the team to follow through on the policy and actually release the inactive usernames so that the streamers that actually put in work can utilize them for their own benefit, in turn for the benefit of the company

  5. Users should be given priority to revert back to their old username once it becomes available rather than having to hope they can get it back. Also, users should NOT have to wait 6 months to try to get their name back. They should be allowed to revert back to their old name after the regular 60 day wait for a name change.

    Also, Twitch NEEDS to update the warning when you go to change your username! Saying your username "will be released back into the pool of available usernames after 6 months" is not descriptive enough. I thought that…

  8. Currently when you change your username, your ticket product (the name that appears on subscription receipts) stays as your old username. Please make it match your current username so people don't refund subs thinking they are subscribed to someone else.

  9. When you go to change your username, there is no confirmation to make sure the change was intentional. It should ask for a confirmation if you are making a 2-6 month commitment. It should just ask "You are about to change your username, is this correct?" As it is now, you can be trying out different things and if you accidentally hit enter, then you have to live without a username of your choosing for 2-6 months. I am really shocked this hasn't been implemented. I can't even look at a website without confirming my choices about cookies, but I…

  10. It is next to impossible to change to a new username for two reasons:

    1. The majority of user accounts are people that view only and don't want to stream. There are 140 million active users and only 7 million streamers!!!
    2. It takes forever for an inactive or closed account to release the username, much longer than the "advertised" 6 months, and it's been already 8 years since you said you'll do something about it.

    A good idea would be to use aliases/discretionary usernames for existing and new users that are not affiliate/partner (active streamers), like discord with the #xxxx. Once…

  11. Diacritics (accent marks over/under/around letters; e.g. ú, ÿ, ç, å, ē) are important in spelling rules for many languages. There are a number of situations where a diacritic can be the difference between a common word and a horribly inappropriate one.

    The display name field on Twitch should be extended to allow diacritics alongside capitalization changes to a username. This would add at least some level of support for a large number of additional languages with a relatively simple change.

  12. When creating my account, I was stuck on what username to use. Twitch showed a message during the sign up which said something like "Don't worry, you can change this later."

    So I thought, ok I'll just put anything for now, and once my account is set up, I can change it to something else.

    But after I finished making my account, I went to the settings to find I had to wait 2 months before I could change my name!

    I feel like I was provided some false reassurance and now I'm stuck for 2 months with a name…

  14. The gaming communities of Slavic and other languages are quite sizeable. It would be nice for them to have the same ability to set a Display Name in Cyrillic script just like there is the ability to have them in Japanese/Chinese/Korean.

  15. Many usernames are banned on Twitch for no known reason. After a while, those suspended accounts should be released so that content creators can get a chance to use them for their branding. For example, the username "fairy" was made partner before it was banned. It would be very nice if a content creator could have that name.

  16. At the time of posting this, Twitch says they recycle usernames that have no viewing or login activity for "at least 12 months", which sounds like some usernames will stay longer for reasons unexplained;
    and it's unclear if the "batches" being recycled is all usernames that meet the 12 month criteria, or if there is just a day/week/month of the year some undisclosed number of inactive usernames are removed and some 12 month inactive usernames just never make it into those batches;
    so I can't tell if a username I want to use that looks inactive is actually 12 months…

  17. Adding the ability to add an apostrophe to display names.
    The name I use online is [Kori'to] but when I have it on Twitch, I can't use an apostrophe in either my username or display name so it looks like [Korito]. Is it possible to allow for adding apostrophes in either the username or display name? That would be a nice addition.

  20. I have a few ideas that I think would be great changes to the username system. To start off I believe the "4 letter" name rule is far outdated I don't see an issue with 3 letter names being allowed, some user already have 3 letter names (I.E. XqC, ABE,Pat,Red) so it's 100% doable. Another change that I think would be great is to allow more characters/symbols in names, such as ( ' - ~ / \ | ) ETC. Including symbols diacritics (e.g. ú, ÿ, ç, å, ē) should also be allowed in usernames, they're already used in other…
