Rollback the FireTV App to V9
The loss of functionality of V10 when compared to V9 is baffling. The redesigned UI is nigh incapable of assisting the user with finding non-live content, since the home, bowse, and category pages now only present live channels to the user.
In the prior app version, all followed channels were listed in a dedicated row about 2 rows below the top/live followed channels row. By removing this and all other non-live content, V10 of the FireTV app delivers an experience that is order of magnitudes more cumbersome to navigate compared to the prior version.
In the updated version users are required to search for individual channels (followed channels included) if they're looking for ANY non-live content, even content they've started watching but had to pause and return to later. Why on Earth should we have to go to the search section and search for any of that content in V10 when V9 gave it to us in a clean and concise manner. Moreover, if we want to know what our followed streamers have recently streamed, we have to search each one individually. And once we've made a decision on who to watch, we get to search them a second time in the same session. It's ridiculous and wasn't so cumbersome in V9.
I could give this a pass if the UI presented the most recent broadcast for each followed channel along side all the live followed channels at the top of the home screen. While still not ideal, at least then I'd only have to waste at most a little time passing through a vod I may not be interested in to get to their profile and find the content I'm ultimately looking for. But I can't even do that, and am instead shoehorned into searching for streamers I already follow.
And to top it all off... The chat history has been completely removed from the vods, and you can no longer send chat messages in the FireTV app.
You also can't force the playback overlay to hide in V10, and instead have to wait 5 seconds for it to disappear on its own. Before, in V9, you could hide it without delay by pressing down
Why has so much functionality been removed and the user experience worsened so tremendously?? Keep V10 and give us back V9!!!

Same I never comment on stuff like this. This may sound silly but my entire nightly routine was in shambles because when I went to put on my favorite binding of isaac eden streaker i could only go back like 10 vods... i rummaged around my closet for 20 minutes to find my chromecast and i casted it from my phone. Still wasn't able to have chat in the vod on the tv but it was better than nothing. Why would you limit people to how many vods back they can see? When you do stuff like this make it a beta and optional for people to try out or something.

This is the first time i've ever felt compelled to comment like this. The OP is right; this is a truly awful update. Roll back this train wreck.

The new user interface for the fire tv is awful. I rarely watch live broadcasts on twitch anymore and like to watch past broadcasts. Where is the continue watching section on the home page? Why can’t I see the accounts of the people I follow without searching for them? Honestly this update has put me off on using twitch at all. Please fix this

I viewed non-live channels more than live channels due to missing streams when they were live, and now it's so much harder to find them than it used to be. Please keep bring back some way to easily get to non-live channels we follow.

Really unhappy with this update. Can't believe the followed channels have gone. Please fix this.

I just realized the app now also only pulls in the last twelve most recent vods. It's not X amount of time... It's 12, just 12.
Why 12? Why can't I watch older content? I can on PC, I can on my phone. Can't confirm, but I'm pretty sure it was more than 12 in the V9 app...
Who thought any of this was a good idea?!?!?!

Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way about the update...
I originally submitted this feedback (with even less objective prose) via a customer support ticket, but I quickly realized that was the wrong channel for the feedback.
I'll just add that I give this feedback as someone who is employed as a Product Owner/Manager (SAFe Agile) for a user-facing software solution... And it abundantly clear to me that the people making decisions around the development and release of this software have a profound lack of understanding around how users seek to leverage their software. Or perhaps they were pressured into converting into new a technology or platform without ensuring adequate feature parity could be maintained. Either explanation is deeply concerning.
In the end, because of these changes, I have already found myself choosing other avenues of entertainment where I would have normally gone to Twitch. It was probably my first or second choice with the old app, but is now probably third or fourth in terms of priority.
PS (an additional complaint): It's really crummy that I get ads every time a load a stream, regardless of how recently I watched ads. Considering V9 was smart enough to NOT do that... it's really disrespectful to me as a content consumer. When I watch on PC, I consciously choose to not use AD blockers because I respect Twitch and content makers for the entertainment they provide and want them to be compensated. Please show me commensurate respect as a consumer. For example, in step by step: 1) I pull up a stream, immediately get ads and watch them. 2) I then join the stream and decide I want to comment on what's occuring. 3) Since I can't comment in the app anymore, I have to leave the stream and get a QR code to direct link to the chat with my phone. 4) And when I leave the QR code screen and rejoin the stream... More ads, despite just watching them moments prior; pretty sure I'm also watching ads on my phone too, just saying.
Honestly, if you're not going to allow in-app chatting. I would prefer just showing the live chat without the "Join the Conversation" button at all... It's not needed and just creates more ads for the viewer. The mobile app is very user friendly, containing near, if not all, the functionality that was present in the FireTV app V9 that is now missing in V10. The stream in question is easy to find and get to without the QR code.
Now, unironically, a QR code from the mobile app that links the FireTV app to a particular stream, vod, or profile... That'd be fantastic, given how awful the FireTV app's interface is now.

I was shocked by how much functionality was unceremoniously removed. It's not just that the app doesn't show non-live content; at most only 40 live streams per category are surfaced in Browse, making it impossible to discover smaller streamers. Further, only 80 categories are surfaced in Browse, making it impossible to navigate to games having fewer current viewers. This is simply awful and I cannot fathom the reasoning that went into such a customer-hostile change.

The recent changes to the Firestick App have reduced the viewer experience. Everytime I change the channel, the chat window is displayed and I must click 4 buttons on the remote to close the window. I have not found an option to set the default so that the chat window doesn't appear when changing channels. Please add this option. Also, the streamers that I follow are no longer displayed on the home screen. If they are not live, I need to search for them in the search window. Please put the followed channels back on the home screen. Also, while watching a older video for a streamer I was unable to display the chat from that video.

Allow vods and streams to playback smoothly on Fire TV if using anything above 720p [such as 720p60, and above!!!]

Your app works well on most devices but is awful on the amazon firestick. Streams constantly freezing and actually results in the whole firestick freezing. Can the app please be looked at, seems strange that the only device struggles to work on is your own.

As I understand the fire stick updates itself and I recently restored to factory defaults looking for an update. No updates, and the twitch app is still the same.

as of now, its pretty useless. game art doesn't load, you cant search, make faves, or even login. The amazon fire remote scrolls out of control sometimes -- it's just impossible to use. It just not good.
