Rollback the FireTV App to V9
The loss of functionality of V10 when compared to V9 is baffling. The redesigned UI is nigh incapable of assisting the user with finding non-live content, since the home, bowse, and category pages now only present live channels to the user.
In the prior app version, all followed channels were listed in a dedicated row about 2 rows below the top/live followed channels row. By removing this and all other non-live content, V10 of the FireTV app delivers an experience that is order of magnitudes more cumbersome to navigate compared to the prior version.
In the updated version users are required to search for individual channels (followed channels included) if they're looking for ANY non-live content, even content they've started watching but had to pause and return to later. Why on Earth should we have to go to the search section and search for any of that content in V10 when V9 gave it to us in a clean and concise manner. Moreover, if we want to know what our followed streamers have recently streamed, we have to search each one individually. And once we've made a decision on who to watch, we get to search them a second time in the same session. It's ridiculous and wasn't so cumbersome in V9.
I could give this a pass if the UI presented the most recent broadcast for each followed channel along side all the live followed channels at the top of the home screen. While still not ideal, at least then I'd only have to waste at most a little time passing through a vod I may not be interested in to get to their profile and find the content I'm ultimately looking for. But I can't even do that, and am instead shoehorned into searching for streamers I already follow.
And to top it all off... The chat history has been completely removed from the vods, and you can no longer send chat messages in the FireTV app.
You also can't force the playback overlay to hide in V10, and instead have to wait 5 seconds for it to disappear on its own. Before, in V9, you could hide it without delay by pressing down
Why has so much functionality been removed and the user experience worsened so tremendously?? Keep V10 and give us back V9!!!

This is just terrible, now instead of seeing everything i want to follow i get 'Recommended for you' and 'thinks we think you will like'. I can't believe how bad this app is now. Everyone involved in this update needs fired. Nothing at all was wrong with the previous version, stop trying to make me watch things I'm not interested in.

I was wondering why more people weren't complaining about this back in March (when I got the update) but it appears that Twitch is most likely rolling the update out, probably to minimize the criticism for the new app. I don't know why they couldn't just create a new app that just focused on live content instead of stripping the features from the main app. 5 months in, I've been losing Twitch less and less. I know I'm probably not the only one.

I just can't believe that someone thought it was ok to make it so that I need 2 devices to chat when I used to be able to chat on the TV.
and that I don't get to go on raids anymore is so sad - i used to find great content creators that way.
I have "wasted" real money buying
1) the fire stick that doesn't let me chat (i already had a playstation 3 player for that) and
2) buying a bluetooth keyboard to chat that now lies unused by my tvwhen do we get some sort of feedback from Twitch on this? its like they got me here to scream into the void which i don't appreciate.

The app just updated in the last couple of days. I actually thought this was a downgrade before I realized this was the latest version. What happened? Obviously this didn't go through any sort of UAT which is a travesty for an app of this magnitude of a user base.

This update was complete and utter garbage. When watching VODS, the video will sometimes freeze for a few seconds and then fastforward 30 or so seconds - far longer than it was frozen. It’s absolutely enraging. No longer being able to chat is annoying, as is the lack of being able to see VOD chat. Removing the “Continue Watching” category was just plain stupid - seriously, what ******* thought THAT was a good idea?! - and seeing all of these random no-name channels being recommended on my home page is REALLY starting to **** me off. Rollback to the previous version of the app, Twitch. Just accept the L and be humble. Give us back the previous version of the app; it’s what we want. You’d get a lot less **** from us if you did. As it is, I’m contemplating unsubscribing from Turbo and potentially Prime because of how ****** my experience is now.

How is this an update?! UI/UX is terrible on the Firestick. Everything is literally worse. No live preview when hovering. No chat. See other comments for missing features. This is beyond ridiculous.

(And by "jailbreak," they mean flipping a switch in the device settings.) --v

Step 1: Jailbreak your fire stick or fire cube, search on Youtube for instructions. It's easy.
Step2: Load S0undTV apk from here: https://github.com/S0und/S0undTV/releases
Step 3: Enjoy Twitch as it should be.

The current state of the app is unacceptable. How can you REMOVE features when basic parts of your website are still unavailable? Revert to v9 and try again, and maybe this time add features.

I share everyone else's opinions here. For me, filtering out the noise of categories/channels I don't want to see is now GONE. I fail to see how this could be called an 'improvement', since now to see a filtered list I must use my PC browser rather than watch a channel on my Amazon Fire TV Cube 6.x. I don't want to have to input a search just to find a category.. at LEAST give us a followed categories list.

The latest firestick app removed show followers and the continue watching, which seems like the most likely used functions. It's what I need at least. Seems ludicrous.

Seriously? I bought a fire stick specifically to make it easier to watch Twitch on my TV. And now the only way to get at VODs is if the channel happens to be live? Really? My schedule rarely allows me to watch things live, I rely on VODs. (also, egads does the fast forward/rewind suck)

I can't see the past broadcasts on the twitch tv app on the fire stick.
Sad...

I can't see chat in vods anymore? Wtf is this, youtube? This isn't gonna convince me to watch streamers on the front page. It's just gonna convince me not to use this trash.

Worst update yet. Is this an attempt at directing people to more live content, and to push viewership on different streamers?
This update is directly punishing you for wanting to see your favourite streamers. You can’t see your offline followed channels, the vods shown don’t go back all the way, and only show a small amount… what’s the point of that? Why not show everything?
Taking away so much functionality. I’m uninstalling it until this is fixed.

I've just got the update and feel everyone's pain.. I have never seen an update that removes so many things and adds so many bugs. How could this update go to production?

This update is awful. You cant chat with the firestick remote and the interface doesn't go away by clicking back it simply blocks the screen and you have to wait for it to go away. I am constantly selecting the unfollow button because it forces me to select it when watching a streamer and loading the overlay.
This update is garbage. They need to roll it back. -

All patience to Twitch while they fix this, I've moved on to s0undtv. Community written. Standalone apk is on github. Very feature rich except I think no sending chat (not sure actually, I still use Twitch mobile for that).
