Rollback the FireTV App to V9
The loss of functionality of V10 when compared to V9 is baffling. The redesigned UI is nigh incapable of assisting the user with finding non-live content, since the home, bowse, and category pages now only present live channels to the user.
In the prior app version, all followed channels were listed in a dedicated row about 2 rows below the top/live followed channels row. By removing this and all other non-live content, V10 of the FireTV app delivers an experience that is order of magnitudes more cumbersome to navigate compared to the prior version.
In the updated version users are required to search for individual channels (followed channels included) if they're looking for ANY non-live content, even content they've started watching but had to pause and return to later. Why on Earth should we have to go to the search section and search for any of that content in V10 when V9 gave it to us in a clean and concise manner. Moreover, if we want to know what our followed streamers have recently streamed, we have to search each one individually. And once we've made a decision on who to watch, we get to search them a second time in the same session. It's ridiculous and wasn't so cumbersome in V9.
I could give this a pass if the UI presented the most recent broadcast for each followed channel along side all the live followed channels at the top of the home screen. While still not ideal, at least then I'd only have to waste at most a little time passing through a vod I may not be interested in to get to their profile and find the content I'm ultimately looking for. But I can't even do that, and am instead shoehorned into searching for streamers I already follow.
And to top it all off... The chat history has been completely removed from the vods, and you can no longer send chat messages in the FireTV app.
You also can't force the playback overlay to hide in V10, and instead have to wait 5 seconds for it to disappear on its own. Before, in V9, you could hide it without delay by pressing down
Why has so much functionality been removed and the user experience worsened so tremendously?? Keep V10 and give us back V9!!!

It used to be that non 4k Firesticks still used the old (good) version of the app, but recently even this has changed. Massive negative feedback & what do they do? Roll the **** out to even more areas to make sure everyone's experience is ruined. A good step toward equality, a giant faceplant for practicality.

I hate this update I can’t even watch all the old vods for my followed channels as only 12 videos show up and it doesn’t load up any more old vods. The older version allowed me to watch and view all the old vods but this new update only lets me watch the 12 newest vods which is stupid. I want to rewatch the older vods

So, after almost 5 months, there has been a positive improvement. My app (build ID sst-6cf130e/mt-c/fuchsia) now shows me my followed categories and followed offline channels in addition to followed live channels. That's good! We can also see far more categories in Browse, and far more streamers within a given category. We are no longer limited to the 50 or so highest view counts. (Also, the browse pages seem to no longer be sorted by view count, which makes smaller games/streamers easier to find.)
As far as I can tell, though, many features remain missing. Still missing at this point:
* Chat still missing from VODs
* Raids still broken
* VOD seeking still very hard to use
* Can't dismiss overlay manually
* Too many clicks to show chat (including having to move past the huge Unfollow button)
* Opening the traffic-light menu while watching a VOD and clicking Go Back loses your place in playbackSo, it seems things are moving. I hope that Twitch is listening to its customers and that the fixes continue to come.

Thought I'd give it a second chance today as it's been a while... VOD freezes every few seconds. Genuinely unwatchable. Embarassing that there's still no fix to this.

Watching vods is a nightmare in the new app, it freezes to buffer constantly and skips ahead by large chunks each time forcing me to miss half the stream unless I set it to 720p, and because quality always defaults to auto instead of remembering my preference like before, and it's so laggy and slow to actually navigate to the quality settings, it adds so many extra obstacles just to watch anything. It's a pain to even find vods compared to the previous version, too. It used to actually be MORE convenient than other apps to continue watching vods on fire tv because it'd show you vods you hadn't finished watching on the main page as soon as you open it, too, and for no good reason they cut out the chat replay. On top of all of that, after a while of watching it suddenly throws up an error and refuses to play any stream or vod at all until I restart my whole fire tv device. Literally unwatchable, this update is a disaster.

Umm. What just happened to my app?? Apparently, it updated to V10 and then took away features such as Chat on VODs? Not only is it a pain to now find the VODs, but not having chat? Why? The functionality is there. Why take it away? Why hide VOD videos? How can I get the old version back? This isn't about not liking the design. This update makes the app pretty pointless for half of why I'm on Twitch. Why should I be forced to watch on my phone when I have a giant tv across the room with a TwitchApp that is somehow less functional than previous versions? At least give us the old version while you work on a better design. Any focus group or beta testing could have told you this version was poor design.

New update is terrible on fire devices. No chat, less vods, no continue watching section, video quality settings don't save. You've even managed to ruin fast forwarding and rewinding somehow as now you either skip 10 seconds or minutes at a time. Looks like a mobile app now as well.
Just removing features for the sake of it I suppose.
Revert please.
In the meantime, it's best to sideload/jailbreak a better twitch app.

Yes I hate this new version I can't continue where I left off watching a vod and I can't see the chat on vods. It crashes every 30 min or so amd I have to restart the app and find the vod all over again. Please fix this or go back to V9!
P.S. I accidentally "flagged" this post on accident when I wanted to add my comment, please disregard.

Hey Twitch (Amazon), it is OK to take a step back and reevaluate objectives. How about this, you roll back to the previous app version as soon as possible so the current user base is not completely frustrated. And dive into the objectives that you want out of a new app update.
Let's all spend some time to gather business requirements and customer requirements to build out a really great application. I'll donate any of my product management time you need to get to an amazing Twitch app for the FireTV.
I think we can all agree that the Twitch app should be amazing on FireTV (Amazon-centric). It should be included with every FireTV rollout and it should be easy to use for anyone that launches it, from navigating their favorites to easily subscribing to the content they want. Nothing wrong with making an app useful both for the company and the end user. Let's do this soon, let me know.

This is my 1st time here with input to the community. This new Twitch app on my Firestick is the absolute worst steps backwards on almost any app ever. WTF? The worst part for me is that they REMOVED THE CHAT! Reduce some of the social aspects from a social platform...make it make sense.
The 2nd worst part of this newly updated app is that I have to manually select the steam resolution EACH TIME I WATCH A STREAM! Auto sometimes doesn't cut it so I select the highest quality possible (source). It reverts back to"auto" even on streams that I frequently watch.
Finally, all the same issues that numerous people have come here recently to say. Ditto that!
C'mon Twitch!

I stream sometimes and used to be able to go to my channel and see my icon on the top right. Also I used this to check my stream volume and view chat. None of that works now. If I view my own stream it just crashes after 3 minutes says an error. I thought my TV was glitching, I reinstalled twice. Turns out it's now designed like this, can't beleive you pay employees to make an app worse , or is the problem the DeVs or management idk but I'm not happy at all.

This is now the most active TV Apps post on Twitch UserVoice, and the 3rd most contributed of all time. Over the last few months, it has received more contributions than almost any other category. I am losing hope that Twitch will have a response to this at all, let alone a desire to fix their own app hosted by their own FireOS. It is shameful that Google's YouTube app on FireOS is more effective and functional than Amazon's Twitch app on Amazon FireOS - INCLUDING YouTube Streams. It is almost as though Twitch is deliberately trying to sabotage its product and drive viewers and creators to YouTube instead. The previous version of the Twitch FireOS app offered such basic functions as: a menu listing followed and subscribed channels; effective and scalable rewind and fast forward; ability to type on the TV to live chat; ability to read or hide chat from VODs. Every single one of those features, present in the previous update, has been REMOVED from v10 with no explanation. This reinforces the impression that the developers and decisionmakers are actually working on behalf of Google to kneecap Amazon's product and push customers to YouTube instead.
