Twitch Applications: Mobile

  1. iOS app plays on its own

If the iPad app is in the background and the last streamer you were watching hosts someone, the app starts playing the stream in the background. This is annoying if you turned off your iPad to go to sleep :)

  2. Audio output options!

Add the ability for us to switch audio output options. Let's say, I want to hear audio on our phone speakers, but all of a sudden I need to switch to headphones via Bluetooth, or visa versa. Other applications have this feature and I think this would be great to incorporate this feature in the Twitch Mobil App.

  3. Allow manuell setting of stream quality on android

    Hi!

It seems that the latest android version of the twitch app removed most options to manually choose the stream playback quality. The only options left are: mobile, low and automatic. Even though I was able to watch streams previously on high and source quality just fine, now “automatic” defaults to a lower quality which significantly reduces the enjoyment of watching streams!

Can we please get the option back to manually choose a high quality?

    Cheers, Florian

  4. I really hope that someday the Twitch app is as good as the desktop version. Next step is to be able to subscribe/unsubcribe via mobile.

I almost never watch Twitch via desktop/laptop. Always using a tablet or phone to view. Please enable the subscribe/unsubscribe features for mobile.

  6. BTTV & Frankerfacez integration

It'd be cool to see these emotes at least, or even better be able to use them in the mobile app.

  7. Suggestion: Add a Refresh button / menu item to Android app

Several areas could be benefit from having a Refresh button, but there are none to be found in the Android app. Currently refreshing even the simplest page usually requires a tedious amount of loading different pages and returning to the original page / stream (or force closing the app and killing the process). The two mentioned below are the most pressing.

    - The "following" page will contain multiple offline stream and often will not be refreshed to see new streams. A "force refresh" button / menu item could solve this.

    - The actual stream page will not refresh when a…

  8. Number of channes in a row

    Hi,

My TV is big enough to show decent previews for more 3 channels in a row.
It would be nice to specify number from 2-5 of channels display in one row.

    Regards,
    John

  9. D-PAD navigation

    Hi,

I'm running Twitch app on android box connected to TV.
Remote provided witch box is standard IR one.
I can emulate mouse using arrows, but it's pain to use.
    Also no 'drag'n'drop' support.

Please add support for standard arrow/d-pad control for:
    - navigating around menus
    - scroll on list of games, streams, etc.

Kodi might be a good example for implementation.

    Regards,
    John

  10. "Source" quality isn't always working.

    Hi,

On my android box, which is T95N-something with Amlogic S905 chipset, I have problems with playing "source" quality streams.
Screen is black, on audio, no data on network.
Is there any specific codec requirement for stream?

Please add some debug information on popup why particular stream isn't compatible with my device.

    Regards,
    John

  11. Launch stream in fullscreen mode

    Hi,

I'm looking for an option which allows me to play any stream in full screen from the beginning.
I'm using Android BOX with TV and navigation using IR remote is quite pain.

    Regards,
    John

  13. [BUG] Annoying iOS (iPad) screen timeout lock issue

    Hey Twitch,

I would report this directly to the iOS developers at Twitch but I don't know of an appropriate e-mail or other forum other than this sub-reddit.

I'm annoyed of this particular screen timeout locking issue.

I sometimes watch Twitch on my iPad before falling asleep at night, on occasion I fall asleep while watching.

In the morning, I find my iPad with it's screen still on with what used to be 'Streamer is offline' dialog alert in-front of the chat window holding a lock on the screen preventing the screen from turning off. This was fixed a while…

  16. Add a new viewing mode to hide chat

Basically there is a pretty big problem with the mobile app and Twitch Chat: It wastes a lot of data, and a lot of battery. In big channels, specifically Esports events, there can be upwards of 100,000 people in the stream and there are hundreds of chat messages every second. This is where the problem lies, it eats your battery and you can say bye to your data.

My proposed change is to simply add a new mode that can be found in the viewing settings that allows you to just have the video fullscreen all the time (like it…

  18. Make landscape mode actually usable on Android (and iOS?) by hiding more of the interface

    Pictured: http://i.imgur.com/F3U1YK6.jpg
Currently landscape mode is really clunky to use when trying to browse streams since a lot of the UI just sits there and doesn't move out of the way. An easy fix is to just hide a lot of it, especially when scrolling.

  19. Allow user to change channel between following channels without leaving fullscreen mode

I personally watch different streams at a one session. I browse quite a lot between channels. But it is really really chore to change between channels if you do it frequently.

Just add a quick option to let user browse his/her following channels without leaving fullscreen stream mode.

So user dont have to re-oriantate the phone like million times which is big chore

  20. Add group chat support.

Group chats are great because they can be useful in many different ways. For example you can have a moderator chat for your channel so your mods can easily discuss how to handle someone being annoying in chat. Or you can take the group chats you normally use on pc on mobile. Really It allows mobile users to use a feature only pc users have been able to use.
