Revert new app changes
Please revert these new changes made to the app. I can’t use the app properly anymore. When I open twitch I want to see my follow list, who’s on and what they are streaming, not some random stream that starts playing.
Also where did the “continue watching” list go? I can’t see it anywhere. Do I actually have to go through profiles and search through vods and try to remember which specific vid I was watching?
Wow! These new changes are a nightmare, please revert to the original format before I delete the app.

It’s legitimately perplexing how this garbage still hasn’t been reverted and instead they’re just slowly trickling in adding back the dozens of pieces of useful functionality they unceremoniously deleted for no reason. Absolutely baffling and an indictment of the company that no one was publicly fired over this decision.

This hasn’t grown on me and still sucks

I agree, the new changes make it more difficult to navigate to and watch streams from channels I already follow. I understand wanting to follow the trend set by Tiktok….. but if I wanted a Tiktok style feed I would be on the Tiktok app not the Twitch app!! I much preferred having a static landing page that provided more information, not less.

I've heard Frosty is a decent app if you just want to watch the streamers you follow and chat using third party emotes

Zach Bussey tweeted a recent video of dan talking about new users vs core/hardcore users:

text version of vid1 omitting the ums and uhs:
"It's clear when we look at sentiment and other things, that for our casual and intermittent users, they actually- things tend to be more positive. They're browsing more, they're finding more, and also their sentiment towards the app is different. It's our kind of core and hardcore users that, which is the bread and butter of twitch, okay, they don't like it. I don't think it's just cause change is hard, okay, change is hard, okay. I do think we missed a number of things, okay. I think the mock that I've seen now it'll take a little while to test and get out, that changes the following as opposed to being a list like this into a screen with thumbnails. We have a mock that- i think that will satiate a lot of peoples concerns"
TLDR of vid 2: keep on attracting younger viewers that grow up on tiktok (8-12 even though they shouldn't be)
There might actually be hope. Just give users the choice of which page they want to see. The users who actually want to see the feed will default to that if they want, and the rest of us will default to a page of who we follow that we can sort, show a thumbnail or even preview, category, and title. NOT in feed format

Awful ui design and horrible social media feed, why make it so the youtube app is now better and more pleasant to use than twitch.

Cancelling my sub after this latest layout update. Will resub if ever reverted at least to the most previous version.

I'm cancelling all my paid subs. Twitch's asinine refusal to even acknowledge the problems with the new design show that they aren't going to fix it.
I watch twitch on mobile - frequently on VOD - and at this point I find myself dreading the experience. I'm not paying for something that sucks this bad, especially when the company so clearly shows us they don't care.

I forgot about this horrific new app design and ended up opening the twitch app today for the first time in a while. It’s even less user friendly than I remembered!
If you’re watching a stream, but have to switch apps and kill the pop out video, switching back to the twitch app and the stream/chat you were watching is gone and you’re stuck with the awful feed again. This is reproducible every single time. The new iOS app is atrocious, horrible, reprehensible, bad. Please help your community by reverting the app to the previous version.

How has this been the top issue for this long, and they still haven't reverted it?
The wild thing, unique mobile app users, on Android and iPhone, is down over 10%, and it has impacted unique website traffic (browser based viewers) by 2% so far, and total watch time across all mediums is down by 11%. (AKA ~$25 million in revenue.) [All data based off of datetime of roll out to today, offset by yearly usage patterns over the 3 previous years.]
So, curious who at twitch is going to get the heat for this.
Streamers really need to unionize so they can get Twitch to actually represent the interest of them and the users, instead of making ridiculous choices that make no sense that hurt them all.

Hello,
Just dropping in to make sure you're aware of the newest batch of reviews from the Google Play Store. Recent reviews are still trending negative, citing the UI change as being "atrocious" and "unfriendly" but of course you shouldn't let those deter you from continuing on the blessed TwitchTok path.
Anyway, the update continues to be an unpopular decision and users continue to hate it. Maybe just put it back to how it was?

Revert back to the old app whoever thought this was better is smoking something different from the rest of us. Who manipulated twitch into thinking this new app was any good lol

Up until today, I had experienced the random stream switch twice. Once I was audio-only with my phone in my pocket and was suddenly hearing audio that made no sense. I woke up my phone and assumed that my phone somehow activated in my pocket and switched me to a gaming stream I'd never seen before. Then it happened right in front of me. My phone was propped up a foot away from me in landscape mode and I wasn't touching anything but my lunch. It switched me to another stream (this time one that I actually followed). Today it happened twice in one day. Actually twice in one lunch! I wasn't touching my phone at all and it sent me first to a different stream that I follow, and then 20 minutes later to a different stream that I don't follow. The random stream switch is absolutely bonkers. This never happened before the app update and I think today's glitching is simply because I updated the app this morning! What is going on with this? The app changes truly are a nightmare, look ugly, and have added no functionality. Quite the opposite, for me. If Twitch won't allow me to watch the stream I want to, that's a complete lack of function in my view.

I'm glad partners were allowed to multi stream.
I've switched to watching my streams on a functional platform. -

I'm just going to run through their patch notes so that they have my voice on this.
What we’re working on now:
- Adding more metadata to the following drawer, like stream titles and thumbnails
---Excellent! This is a great improvement to what you currently have and will be helpful.- Making it easier to access your followed content in the feed. We may experiment with a following feed or adding filters to your feed
--- Sounds good, though I question the need for it to be a "feed" at all.
- Letting you open your following drawer without leaving the current stream you’re watching
--- Good, seems like a good thing to address and repair
- Delivering vertical video in the feed
--- ...Who is asking for this? What vertical video? I've never seen a portrait oriented stream on twitch. This seems, forgive my lack of tact with this, stupid. If you are going to continue forcing the feed onto us, could you allow us to use the feed in landscape mode so that the streams in the feed actually use the screen space of our phones?
- Bringing “continue watching” back to the mobile app"
---This would be amazing and a huge help. I've currently given up on watching not-live content on the phone because it's so awful to navigate.
I'm part appreciative of the things you're looking to fix now, and partly still completely blindsided by what these changes show Twitch management thinks Twitch the platform is. Vertical video, vertical scrolling feeds, AUTO scrolling feeds, followed channels shoved in a corner out of sight, non followed channels shoved in your face...none of this describes what Twitch as a platform has been. The content these features exist for is not content that made twitch what it is. I'm not needing a feed to flip between multi-hour streams. If the content these features are aimed for is what twitch is trying to become, I worry Twitch management has a myopic view of the content platform landscape and are trying to forcefully implement features from a platform they aren't. Pushing Twitch in an asinine direction solely for the sake of change.
