  1. Many times, "viewer_count" response field doesn't change during several minutes (due to caching?). However, when you're watching a stream you can see how this data is refreshed each 20-25 seconds.

    Benefit: Increase the precision of apps that use this field

  3. The cheers topic of PubSub doesn't give emote placement like the Subscribers topic does.

    Please extend cheers topic to include the Emote placement like Subscriptions does

    For example

          "sub_message": {
            "message": "A Twitch baby is born! KappaHD",
            "emotes": [
              {
                "start": 23,
                "end": 7,
                "id": 2867
              }
            ]
          }

    Should be included with Cheers on PubSub

  4. The twitch apps games screen is pretty limited. Many have over 100 games on there by now. So I would like to be able to build my own web app and let users log in via twitch and browse their claimed games collection where I can provide filters and search for games using whatever data is available about the games. To do this there must of course be an API where I can retrieve the game list and meta data about them.

  5. Currently, supporting small streamers is costly, requiring pagination through large streamers. Grant Streams api functionality already present in internal gql api:

    options: {..., sort: VIEWER_COUNT_ASC,…}

  8. Having written one and a half client libraries for IRC now, I wish Twitch Chat was exposed over a more consistent protocol.

    • Allow read-only access to chat messages (and other related live data and events) via PubSub, with clean re-designed JSON Chat message payloads
    • No longer identify channels and users by their login name, use user IDs for all purposes
    • Send messages via an API call

    Most importantly, I would expect a redesigned API to think of edge-cases in a better way than IRC currently does. For example, what happens on IRC if a channel gets suspended, or a channel…

  9. The Get Clips API should include information of all deleted clips matching the current clips request too when used with a proposed deleted=true parameter. Limited to only the broadcaster themselves and maybe behind some appropriate scope too.

    Goal: detecting malicious, weird and creepy clipping behavior from people making clips, downloading them, and instantly deleting them which is a very common pattern that's currently almost impossible to detect for streamers.

    Sometimes streamers will accidentally show something they didn't mean to for a second, or say something that can be taken out of context, and some people are just weird and clip…

  10. On the new Helix endpoint, https://dev.twitch.tv/docs/api/reference/#get-extension-transactions and therefor https://dev.twitch.tv/docs/api/webhooks-reference/#topic-extension-transaction-created the signed receipt that comes with onTransactionComplete from the JS Helper is missing. In order to audit and avoid man in the middle attacks, a signed JWT that can only be verified with the client secret should be sent on all endpoints sending monetary transaction data.

  13. There should be a Live Activated Channels with Extensions webhook to get updates once a channel w/ the Extension goes live- similar to the Stream Changed webhook, this would reduce the amount of polling needed.

  14. It seems that it’s currently impossible to determine who is streaming to a shared channel using the Authorized Broadcaster feature. I tested on my own channels and it appears as if the https://api.twitch.tv/kraken/channels/<mysharedchannel> endpoint does not include any information on the authorized broadcaster streaming to that channel.

    Is this something in the works or planned? It would be very helpful for building extensions and bot commands for shared channels.

    Note: when adding an email address to the authorized broadcaster list, it does check that the email is associated with a valid Twitch account, so this information should be available…

  16. The Create Poll endpoint has optional query parameters to allow additional votes using either bits or channel points.

    However, it doesn't actually allow multiple votes. This can be seen in the pubsub response which explictly states that "multi_choice" (property indicating whether additional votes are allowed) is not enabled.

    When creating a poll through the web interface, it works just fine as it is created through the GQL and not the API. The GQL message also has an additional property to explicitly allow additional votes, on top of the properties that are used to either allow additional votes by bits and/or…

  17. Both of the APIs for getting subscriptions for a broadcaster don't include the actual date of the subscription with the data:

    https://dev.twitch.tv/docs/api/reference#get-broadcaster-subscriptions
    https://dev.twitch.tv/docs/api/reference#check-user-subscription

    This makes it impossible to compute things such as subscription length dynamically as the only way to get subscriptions dates now is to be listening for the subscription event itself when it occurs. The V5 version of these APIs have this data point in them:

    https://dev.twitch.tv/docs/v5/reference/channels#get-channel-subscribers
    https://dev.twitch.tv/docs/v5/reference/channels#check-channel-subscription-by-user

  18. It would be useful if the following values could be added to each emote:

    • Channel Name (e.g. "owner name") - Obviously the name can be retrieved from the "owner id" by doing another API request, but it would be nicer to require fewer API requests
    • Tier - The "Get Channel Emotes" endpoint already contains a "tier" value, it would be nice if this one would also have it

    Additionally, not all emote sets appear to be supported by the endpoint. For example the following emote sets (from the "emote-sets" tag and also valid emote sets in the v5 "Get User…

  19. The new GetChannelEmotes endpoint does not return the correct image url for gif emotes.

    For example on Lirik:

    for an animated emote it returns the url:

    https://static-cdn.jtvnw.net/emoticons/v1/emotesv2_53ff77f7c67641528739780d90568494/1.0

    When in fact the correct url should of been:

    https://static-cdn.jtvnw.net/emoticons/v2/emotesv2_53ff77f7c67641528739780d90568494/default/light/1.0

    At the moment all gif emotes are given png url's.

    This is the intended behavior. We will be updating the documentation to make it clearer that static images are returned and we will also be documenting the CDN URL schema to request different aspects of the emote (e.g. static/animated, light/dark/, etc)

  20. Please provide an endpoint to

    • create
    • update
    • delete
    • fetch

    The /rules of a channel.

    Usecase:

    Moderators/channel staff/lead moderator may need to revise the rules of a channel on the fly.
    This currently would require the broadcaster to "stop streaming"/playing the game/entertaining in order to do so.

    A scope and endpoint should be provided to allowed authorised parties to update the rules.
