1. Option to put Channels with mature content as hidden from directory.

   A option to not show channels with mature content filtered on could help out in some cases. Where if you toggle this option on, browsing through twitch, channels with mature content filtered on will not show up.

2. "Streamers In Your Communities" Browse Category

   So we all know that for discoverability, Twitch tracks who follows who, and who they also watch. Example: You follow Streamer X, and also follow/watch Streamer Y, and so does Z% of the community, they get recommended.

   I'd like to see a category that dials that one more step down:
   You Follow Streamer X
   Other Community Member Follows Streamer X
   Other Member Streams
   I can go to "Streamers in your Communities" category to see streamers who share a community with me, that I would never otherwise know about since self promotion is frowned upon.

   I know when I browse a game category one of the big things I look for is "Do I recognize this name from anywhere"

   I think this would really also help smaller creators.

3. sound on esports browser

   this was probably thought of already, or suggested and shot down,

   but what about adding sound to the Esports Directory, instead of having to navigate to the channel, enable sound on the Esports Directory so that I (and maybe others) can just from game to game and be able to listen to commentary.

4. EASIER WAY TO NOW ACTIVITIES OF CHANNELS YOU FOLLOW

   I wish there was a page on twitch where you can check who streamed how many hours ago within your followed list. This would come in handy due to twitch being a website where anybody can stream at anytime of the day and I don't want to miss out on streams that happened when I was for example asleep. I know that you can see if streames that I follow have streamed if there is a vod left but that UI is absolute dog **** and I want a page where I can check more easily.

5. Divide portuguese languages according to country

   It's very hard to find streamers from Portugal in the middle of so many Brazilian streamers (Brazil has almost 20 times the population of Portugal), dividing it by Portuguese (BR) or Portuguese (PT) would make things a lot easier. This is the standard in programs, subtitles and games, since we use a lot of different terms. I think both sides of the language would welcome this change.

6. Enable No-Viewer Count Mode and Desired Content Selections

   There are many good posts in this section that try to address the issues with highlighting relevant content for viewers and support discovery of channels where viewers will be engaged in a way that leads them to support the content creator and platform. The problem is that Twitch has become increasingly solely depended on a cornerstone of viewer count which provides little to no value and detracts from the actual value and outcomes of engagement on the platform.

   Channels are often avoided or attended because the primary metric is focused on viewer count. This is basic psychology at work and here are some examples that elaborate on this concept the premise for this post is presented.

   <10
   Channels with 1 to 3 viewers appear to have ‘no attendance’ which is psychologically off-putting regardless of the fact that is not representative of the professionalism, skill or quality of the streamer and their content. This psychological discrimination can honestly continue to be true with up to not more than 10 viewers again because of the primacy of viewer count.

   10 to 50 or 100
   Channels with 10-50 viewers can begin to look attractive for people looking for personal engagement and belonging with community. This could have been truer with channels of lower viewer counts that were simply missed opportunities but in practice this is seen on the platform. Channels with 50-100 viewers can additionally attract people who want to be able to consume content but not necessarily be personally actively engaged with the content. Again, this could have been truer with channels of lower viewer counts but it is not possible to determine given the primacy of viewer count on the platform.

   100+
   When viewer count gets above 100 it becomes increasingly unlikely that viewers will get any personal response or interaction with the streamer. Often channels will turn on Follower-Only or Subscriber-Only chat in order to make communication with chat at all manageable and as viewer count increases or features like Slow-Chat or Emote-Only. Often these can be channels that do not actually interact with chat but allow viewers to “talk among yourselves” about the content and only drawing from specifically tagged chats with a question for instance.

   [There may be even more relevant detail and analysis related to this and I welcome those with the knowledge and appropriate background to increase the value and relevance of this information by contributing to the comments.]

   Recommendation: No Viewer Count Mode
   This feedback is to recommend the implementation of a trial feature or mode that enables viewers to browse Twitch that completely hides the count of current viewers. This could be piloted once a minimum viable product has been developed and I feel confident would be met with a mostly positive reception. Recalling the above examples, the obvious trends become a sub-set of personality and mood that viewers approach the platform with and what they are seeking out of the entertainment and content.
   
   Consider the increased value then to being able to make permanent or temporary selections based on your desired outcome as a viewer from the platform. These could include I would like to find a community that has certain characteristics or features certain content. Channels that feature people who look like me, channels featuring content I am interested in or channels that feature a streamer with certain characteristics and a variety of entertainment.

   Recommendation: Desired Content Selection
   The shortcomings with the current tag system are apparent in several other posts and need to be addressed, including the necessity of the platform for these to be hierarchical and the problem with misuse based on the elective nature of tags by the streamer. The following recommendation is related to the above recommendation for No Viewer Count Mode to assist with the formation of a system that benefits the viewers of the platform.

   Implement a system for streamer selection as well as exit-interviews or even in-chat polls or follow-up emails for ratings that can help inform a measure for the channel. The ratings questions must be designed in a way that does not allow a tendency toward negative-to-positive reviews but assesses the channel on a spectrum of relevant characteristics. Initially these questions would be a do you agree since they must begin electively by the channel owner.

   I feel a sense of professionalism and quality

   What would you say best describes CHANNEL on 3/5 occasions?

   Family Friendly ----- Mature Audience

   These characteristics would form the basis of selections by viewers who can select what they are looking for when they come to the platform for their entertainment.
   Such as the following.

   [ ] Professional broadcasts (more produced setting)
   [ ] Developer/Brand focused
   [ ] Game/Content focused
   [ ] Variety content
   [ ] Community and belonging
   [ ] Chat engagement
   [ ] Chat games and points redemptions
   [ ] Personal broadcasts (less produced setting)

   How do I remove the LGBTQ+ filter from my suggested channel tags?
   I really don't care, don't support, and don't want to see any LGBTQ+ tags in my Twitch space. I'm straight and such tags make me unsafe and anxious. I wish don't see any channels and any mentions of this community in my Twitch account - how could I do it?

9. A way to pick what type of system I want to watch people play on. Like select xbox and it only shows me xbox streamers, etc

   A way to view a specific type of system i want to watch people play on. Like if I want to find more xbox streamers I can click that option and when i go to browse streamers for a specific game it will only show me streamers streaming on the system I selected. PC, Xbox, PS4, etc.

11. Hide channels

    Please add the ability to hide channels quickly when viewing categories.

    I enjoy the ASMR Category, but I am sick of obnoxious t*tty streamers who take no care in the configuration of their microphones or the sounds they're making.
    Just feels like a recipe: 1: Show bobs. 2: Link twitter with OF link.. ohai now your top of the ASMR category.

    There's also a ton of boring 24/7 streams and duplicated streams and streams in the wrong category under ASMR. As well as those duplicated streamers all having the same video with donation links... just scam/spam central.

    Blocking them does nothing, reporting them does nothing. Let me just hide the channels so I'm not flooded with terrible quality content.

    The ASMR category used to be a nice place. Now it's a chore to find genuine streamers who aren't spamming or playing into the various metas.

14. Play only OW streams that are in-game.

    High-rank Overwatch streamers usually get ~20 mins of queueing right now and that is often filled with another game or a youtube game.

    I suggest a way to only view streams that are in-game, and to automatically go to the next streamer if the current stream doesn't have any gameplay. Or to have some small badge saying "In-Game" show up on the thumbnail.

    The easiest way of implementing this is using some lightweight ML Video Classification. I assume you are probably using a GPU to do remux, and you can utilize those GPUs for classification inferencing. You probably won't even need to classify each frame, probably once every 10 seconds.

15. Add ability to search all streams from categories followed

    It would be nice to be able to see all active streams based on the categories followed. This would help users discover new streamers in a more organized form than simply using the "Browse" view.

    Example:
    • User follows: Retro, Metroid Fusion, and Pikmin categories
    • User navigates to "All streams from followed categories" view
    • User sees a Browse view that only shows streams from Retro, Metroid Fusion, and Pikmin

    For people who love games, especially multiplayer games such as PUBG, CSGO, World of Warcraft, etc. It's very easy to find new channels on the Browse page.

    However, for people who really dislike these types of games, and prefer to watch streams for their (positive) communities, it's almost impossible to find new streamers.

    When heading to the browse directory, there's an option: "Show me", where you can select Channels. Perfect. However, this shows just the most popular streamers mostly playing the games we don't want to see. There's a second filter: "Streaming from", which is even more irrelevant for the people who're not looking for specific games/platforms.

    So I'd love to see an extra option to allow filtering games with a 'not' argument. Showing all channels which are not playing 'game x, game y, game z, making it so much easier to find people who're playing some random game you've never heard of, who you'd never have found in any other way, since there is no other way to find these people.

    It's cute (Pathetic) how you have a 'feedback' section that slowly turns into a 'we only want to really harvest your free ideas and we don't really care about your complaints' section.

    You add previews to browsing and give us no control over whether we want it, or not. Give us control to disable that **** or I end giving Twitch any money when it renews. What is wrong with you? smh

    Similar to the "LIVE" and viewer count corner overlays ("tw-media-card-image__corners") on live channel preview thumbnails, I believe an uptime counter should show up on hover state, giving the user an idea of how long the stream has been live. Whether it is to discern if your favorite streamer is nearing the end of their broadcast (based on schedule) or for how long they have already been playing the game you were hoping to watch, uptime can play an important role in determining who, how, and when you'll watch. Providing such information without having to click all the way into a stream would be very helpful.

20. Sort by Categories & Channels by Relevancy Instead of Current Viewers

    When browsing categories and channels on Twitch the results are sorted by the current viewer count. While this is one way to sort things, it doesn’t facilitate connecting viewers with the content they are most likely to watch. When looking at other content platforms such as Youtube, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, etc… none of them present viewers with content based solely on how many people are currently watching it but instead use algorithms to present them with recommendations based on the viewer’s previous behavior and the viewing behavior of other viewers. I believe Twitch should have all of the data necessary to sort categories and channels by relevancy to the current viewer where the current view count is one of many factors used.

    The current Twitch “front page” has “Live channels” and “Categories” “recommended for you” so clearly there is already a recommendation/relevancy system in place. As a first step using this existing system to place all recommended channels and categories at the top of the list before reverting back to current viewer count sorting would be a big improvement.

    With this change, it will then become incredibly important that the recommendations are relevant. To improve the recommendation algorithm, I recommend that the organic path to discovering new channels is heavily weighted. The most common way a channel is discovered in my experience is when the channel is raided or hosted by a channel the viewer already often watches. This pattern can be repeated recursively with each step removed having less weight on relevancy then the one before it. While the “people who watch X also watch Y” type weighting has merit, Twitch is someone unique because of its emphasis on communities. The actions taken between streamers therefore should have at least as much weight as simple common viewership.

    In summary:
    Sort Categories & Channels by Relevancy
    Use the “front page” “Live channels” and “Categories” “recommended for you” at first
    Fallback on concurrent viewer count when recommendations are exhausted
    Improve the recommendation system to produce more relevant results
