"Coworking and Study" Category
Last year, you all implemented a "coworking" tag for WFH, study, and remote working streams.
All of us in the coworking community really appreciated the tag! It helped users and viewers find streamers to study alongside, especially in a time when everyone was working from home. Even now, a year and a half out from the tag introduction, many users are still working from home, looking for coworking streams to pass the time and find company in.
Unfortunately, the addition of custom tags—while innovative and helpful for many streamers generally—has presented a problem for the coworking community. It's no longer easy for coworking streamers to use their designated tag to aid discoverability.
There are, after all, SO MANY iterations of "coworking" that could be used: "coworking," "co working," "study," "WFH," "costudy," "working," "studying," working...." and the list goes on.
This lack of clarity has effectively nullified the benefits that the designated "coworking" tag gave us back in early 2021, muddying the waters and hampering discoverability for coworking streamers.
ALL THAT SAID, now that custom tags have been introduced and the discoverability environment has changed for us, it would be incredible to get a designated "Coworking and Studying" category for coworking streamers to live in. Not only would it help viewers find us, it would also help us discover other new coworking streamers much easier—especially when not many know how to use the tag system efficiently.
Thanks so much for considering!

Coming back around. The Coworking game was taken off of IGDB, so we're back to square one. Twitch really needs to do something about (or at last acknowledge) this. This has become a devastating and disheartening struggle that will cost Twitch not only viewers but streamers as well. The entire community is so disjointed without this category, and small coworking streamers are almost impossible to discover and support without a straightforward category.
* Coworking streamers get drowned out in other Just Chatting streams
* Because there is no universal tag for coworking (Cowork, coworking, costudy, etc.), coworking streamers struggle even more to make themselves noticeable (esp if they don't use tags), and viewers don't know what to search for. -

Removing the “Coworking” game without giving any response on whether or not an official category will be implemented signals the end of asking nicely.

I only use Twitch for coworking streams, like so many others! A coworking and study category needs to exist! It's wild that it doesn't. Come on, Twitch!!

We desperately need a 'Coworking and Study' category so our community can easily find other study streamers without having to comb through 'Just Chatting', as well as attract the appropriate audience.

Literally only view on Twitch for coworking - and specifically with my favorite streamer.
When my favorite streamer isn't on, it's a pain ********** to find another coworking streamer as there is no category.
Twitch, you're loosing out on active viewers metrics by refusing to add this category. -

I've been adding more and more CoWorking to my content line-up and it's really valuable to me as a viewer, too. I'd love to see it have its own category!

So glad this is getting the attention it deserves because a dedicated Coworking/Study category is needed. Some study/cowork creators may not use tags, and using the game category isn’t the correct solution.
I’d suggest, since using the incorrect category is not within the Twitch rules (I think this still stands), download the actual Coworking game — I am not affiliated with the game in any way — and run it during your streams so the community doesn’t get dinged for miscategorizing content.
I am actually surprised Twitch hasn’t already created the category but hopefully with the new voices coming in and shining light on this topic, we’ll get a category soon. *Fingers crossed*

It seems people do have many questions in terms of "Why not use the game as a category". While it is a workaround that accommodates the Twitch eco-system it MIGHT, and I emphasize might, as I have no deep knowledge of how the Twitch algorithm for searchability and visibility inherently works. But I do know algorithms in general, and splitting content into two different places will only weaken the general visibility of both "categories". Also, note that Twitch or other companies might be unable to tell you exactly how their algorithm works in many cases, so just getting a "recipe" to beat the algorithm isn't really easy.
So while it might not harm you directly by using this "game" as a category, it might have repercussions further down the line as a ripple effect. I am not saying that one or the other is the "correct" thing, though I would be as bold to say that coworking is not a game. And if it's used the Twitch algorithm might think that this coworking game is quite popular, but again, not visible to the people who are not looking for content in the gaming category.
But back to the topic, Twitch introduced specific categories for different types of content to help streamers categorize their streams more accurately and for viewers to find the content they're interested in more efficiently. A dedicated "Coworking" category would imply that Twitch recognizes coworking as a distinct type of content. Streams under this category are likely focused on creating a virtual workspace where viewers can watch and possibly work alongside the streamer, fostering a sense of productivity and community among remote workers, freelancers, or anyone looking for a virtual office environment.
To just sum it up. The main difference lies in visibility and searchability. A dedicated "Coworking" category directly targets viewers interested in that kind of content, making it easier for them to find streams that match their interests. Using a game name for coworking content is a workaround that might not accurately represent the stream's content, potentially leading to a mismatch in audience expectations and making it harder for the right viewers to find your stream or even at all.

Has anyone been using the "Coworking" category? It is technically a game but could be used similarly to how the "I'm Only Sleeping" category gets used.

We need a study category on Twitch!
It is often difficult to find new study channels because of this. -

This category is very necessary. There are many of us who use Twitch to study.

I started leading my own Coworking stream around a month ago now, and it has already grown so much, and been one of the best things I've done.
I'm now looking to connect with other Coworking streamers, and this would be much easier if it had it's own category.
Coworking is also already a rich and quickly growing community of great people, who all deserve their own category to connect in :)
I hope Twitch makes this small change!

This would be amazing because “Just Chatting” does not encapsulate Co-Working streams and some of us don’t be chatty during Co-Working streams anyways ~ Give us a co-working category please please please! ;—;

As a neurodivergent creator, co-working streams have provided sorely needed structure and consistency for me, as I don’t have a consistent support system outside of it.
Making this an official category would broaden Twitch’s horizons to add accessibility to many of its backbone community. The body doubling is insanely helpful, help make it legit!

@TrainerRio It's not an official category, it's a game created in IGDB: https://www.igdb.com/games/coworking/

Just echoing what others have said in support. Almost every co-working stream I’ve found has either been through raids, recommendations from similar streamers, or messy inconsistent tagging. It would be so helpful for discovery if this was a dedicated category. Just Chatting feels inaccurate because most co-working or study streams only chat during breaks between pomodoros (which I like) and the purpose behind these streams is very intentional. The community already exists on Twitch as evidenced by the upvotes and comments on this — it’s just tricky to find currently. Thanks for considering the co-working communities for inclusion!
