OPT in/out from latest categoty browse UI change
Before the latest change, you had a very neat display of all available channels in the category.
after the change, you only have a tiny bit of the screen to actually browse - overshadowed by a giant preview that can't be removed.
this makes finding the stream you want so much harder, to the point of dejecting users from even trying.
an ability to simply collapse the preview would solve this without interfering with the change itself - although personally I think it's just not needed at all
EDIT: looks like you even made an "expand" button, but that does not really serve it's purpose (in fact on my case it even displays less streams at a time)

The new user interface design for categories, the one with the stream preview of the first streamer in the categories list automatically playing, and one row of a few streamers at the bottom, is providing a bad (as in worse than before) user experience, at least to me.
Don't you think that there should be a toggle for it, especially during the testing phase?
It's super annoying to be one of the few who got this rolled out to, since it can't just be toggled off to revert back to the previous UI setup that everyone else is still able to enjoyably use... :( -

Whatever this new browse page is where its autoplaying a video on 80% of the screen and I cant actually "browse" streamers needs to be gone quick. Platform is unviewable with this feature and its lasted way too long, i've just been watching gaming on other platforms. Part of me likes this feature because it made me find out that 2 of my favorite streamers moved to facebook gaming (T90 and theViper), so i'm thankful it made me close twitch and look around, but I would like it gone so i can watch twitch again.
The feature I request back is just how its been for as long as I remember - A browse page that allows me to browse. Or you can quit running this pilot with me, and just implement it with everyone so there is a mass exodus from the platform, either one is fine by me

whatever this new layout is, is completely unviewable. Im just rendered to not being able to watch twitch, literally watched facebook gaming the other day instead, i just want the old one back

The new channel search "feature" needs a way to turn it off. I don't like the unmuteable channel "preview" that takes up 3/4ths of the search field

Give an option to revert to list view of viewing channels streaming a game. The new layout doesn't allow for easy scrolling of channels, and the expand button is essentially useless. I also don't want streams to be auto played. If you are going to introduce new items, include an option to keep the old way.

The new category page directory is terrible. You used to be able to browse all the streams playing a certain game but now it autoplays the top stream using 90% of the screen which you can't even pause. This is awful for finding or even seeing streams of a certain game, why was this page changed to be less functional?
-

Please revert the changes done on the directory listings page. This has massively disrupted the way I use twitch every day. For example on this page:
https://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Music?sort=RECENT
Now the top half of the screen is filled up by a stream from the directory that I can't get rid of, meaning I can hardly see any of the streams I wish to look through. It's always a stream I don't want to watch. I can make it smaller but it still takes up so much room.
It's hard to pause and extremely annoying.
Furthermore, on the same page the indicator as to how long each stream has been going (i.e. started 15 minutes ago) has been removed. I usually order by "recently started" and search for streams that have say started within the last 30 minutes, and without this I don't know how far to go.

The new design is just soo impractical and in no better way to say it horrible, you are forced to watch a stream on the page, that you cannot pause, adjust the volume of or anything besides skip to the next.
Stream titles are basically made worthless with this feature since you can't see half of the stream title, assuming you can see it at all to begin with considering the size of the text and the choice of text formatting, very opaque and faded text.
Not only are the titles barely visible, basically everything is, streamer names, thumbnails too, very hard to browse for a stream. Tags are non relevant anymore since you can't see what tags people have without looking for a specific tag to begin with.
Stream previews are cut out with this design making it so you need to go through streams one by one with the stream preview that takes up MOST OF YOUR SCREEN. Even when you expand the streams list the stream part of the screen takes up atleast 50% of your screen STILL, while the stream being shown itself is also small to begin with so what you have is 20% black bars, 30% random stream and only then 50% very small stream thumbnails with 0 or little information.
It is honestly a horrible design and I hope this is reverted ASAP or atleast we are given the option to choose which design we want to be using, serious turn off from the platform. Hope to see something done about this.

This feels like the ideal way. Clearly theres a group of users who like the new feature and a group of users who dont. Giving us a way to chose whether or not we want to use the new feature sounds like the perfect way to satisfy both groups. So please give us the option that would toggle the preview either collapsed or expanded by default.
To give you some subjective feedback, when i found out about this feature today i quickly gave up my initial intention to look for a new stream and simply went to one of the streams im already following. Also i hated the new UI change so much that i took the time and wrote about it here which in itself is a pretty big deal, usually i would just ignore it. The category is called "Browse" after all, which is exactly what the new UI change makes nearly impossible - browsing.

Nobody wanted this change, which will autoplay the highest-viewer-channel in a category you are browsing, and it's also all but impossible to browse past-broadcast videos based on a search result, unless you know to add "/list" on the end of a URL.
This is making it harder for streamers who are not at the top of the list to get noticed, by game-category browsers. It's also stopping all streamers from having people watch their VODs after the stream, as they are unfindable without the extra steps of adding "/list" to the URL, and if you are browsing multiple categories, thats a lot of work.
There is no positive benefit to streamers from this recent change, except for if you are the top streamer in your game-category. For the fringe game I usually stream, that IS me, but even so, I really hate this change and many others do too. It makes discoverability harder.

I can't express how much I dislike the change to the browsing system. You changed it from a chill way to find new channels to completely unusable.
Literally the LAST thing I want when I'm browsing is a random streamer shouting out of context nonsense that I can't stop, unless I leave the system.
I DON'T want to "follow" a category, I already know what I like I don't need to tell you.
I can tell you exactly what this feels like. Invasive 90s style pop ups. I figured we collectively evolved past this. It's completely unusable.

OMG yes I HATE the new LAYOUT!!
How are small streamers meant to get seen now its almost impossible to scroll to the bottom of the list if you are browsing in a popular game.
I know you can expand the list below but I don't want a video running at the top of the screen its very annoying if I am not intending to watch that streamer. If anything it should start in minimized mode and then be expanded if I CHOOSE TO, not cool Twitch, I have the big sad now I may need do a stream just about how much I hate it just to see if I am the only one.
Twitch change it BACK! This is not a Netflix! #Givemethekeysyouredrunk

At minimum the new browse layout needs an option to collapse the auto played stream, and losing the ability to see stream tags is a big pain point because I really do let tags guide/influence who I should be checking out. Lastly a nice to have, toggle to not auto-play OR have the auto play be muted by default.

Old game categories
Want old view of game categories back. Who the ... peep has develop this ... peep. If you want now viewer you can finsh twitch or use the new game categories. I open a game categorie and then i had a Stream open with picture and sound i dont want. The word "categorie Overview " is a joke. You see 7 channel without clicking the mouse like a pro. Ever new part of twitch is more awkward as the old.
-
deadline3k commented
Just give us the Option to choose what kind of Overview want to use.
The new ew Trailerthing uses 3/4 of the screen, why? If I want to browse in my Categorys it takes forever with this big Trailer wich literally nobody likes.
Big Streamers become even bigger and the small ones are hidden on "google Page 2" -> invis-mode. -
