Add Disability Month Front Page Features
Twitch does an excellent job curating teams and featuring marginalized creators on the front page during identity based pride months. However, I've never seen one of these happen for disabled creators which I believe is a big missed opportunity.
Being a content creator as a disabled person adds a whole host of additional challenges, such as navigating algorithms that favor consistency with inconsistent bodies. Finding games and programs that are accessible for us for streaming, etc.
I would love to see Twitch uplift the hardworking disabled creators by also hosting a Disability Pride Month and highlighting disabled creators the way they do with Black History Month, AAPI month, LGBTQIA+ month, etc.
Twitch pay attention and appreciate the disabled community!! Quit playin around. They deserve their own celebration month.
As a person with an invisible disability, I am fully behind this.
as somebody who is disabled I love this so much.
I hope Twitch listens to this. Too often disabled voices are left out, left without support or we are just an afterthought. Time to change that, Twitch!
Tbh having a month for disabled creators is amazing thing to do cus there like us
July is disability pride month, so that would be a pretty **** move...
This is a fantastic idea. And with closed captions as a permanent integrated option, please!
Love this idea!
I hope this goes through as I am one of many content creators who are listed by society as disabled (I have autism aka ASD) even though I hardly talk about what makes me classed as disabled I sincerely hope this goes forward and can't wait for it to do so because we need to spread awareness for this group of people cause frankly people who are listed as disabled are viewed by other as unable to do most things and often get underestimated and I'll make it my goal to spread awareness for this vote for the front page I'm just glad I came across this from one of my friends tweets
I sincerely hope this happens, disabled streamers deserve to be lifted up, celebrated, and allow more representation to inspire more members to know there is no boundary, to what they can do ❤️❤️❤️
Really good idea, especially with Global Accessibility Awareness Day coming this May.
For one, I want to see Closed Caption integrated with the platform instead of it being an extension
This would be a small but important step towards increased visibility and accessibility for streamers and viewers alike!
Yes! \o/ I would adore seeing this, not only as a disabled creator (rarely), but as someone that's disabled who wants to see more people like me be celebrated <3
As a fellow disabled gamer and streamer this is a fantastic idea.
I'd love to see this. I'm not disabled, but I'd still like to see disabled gamers given more shine and spotlight. It'd help break some of the stigmas, and also encourage more companies to consider disability options when making their games.
Giving us unique tags was a great step in the right direction, but let's do more, Twitch! Uplift disabled creators' voices and give them some attention front and center!
This would really help me find creators I want to follow.
More visibility is so important and needed amongst the disabled community! Thank you for this <3
YES! disabled pride is so important & twitch needs to spotlight its amazing disabled creators <3
Yes yes yes.
