Create "Animals & Farming" as a Category
The Twitch community would benefit if there was an “Animals & Farming” category. There are currently over 200 animal based streamers on the platform, spread out over many different categories, making it difficult to find them. Animal streams attract a specific type of viewer, usually looking for a slower paced stream, where they can relax and make long-term connections with other viewers. It would be much easier to find this type of content with a new “Animals & Farming '' category, helping the community grow and support each other.
Furthermore, animal based Twitch streamers provide content to many thousands of viewers, showing that the Internet wants and enjoys animal based live streams. This style of content has proven its value. With an “Animals & Farming” category, the animal streamers can attract even more Twitch viewers who may have otherwise not found a home.
Without this new category, animal streams will continue to spread out into many categories, sometimes to the point of annoying others. Here is an example: https://twitch.uservoice.com/forums/310210-discover/suggestions/43673121-get-rid-of-animal-streams-in-the-science-technol. There isn’t currently a place for these streamers to move to. Creating the “Animals & Farming” category would resolve these unintended annoyances felt by Twitch users.
Excited to share we launched an Animals, Aquariums, and Zoos category! All of your Very Good fluffy, feathery, or fin-covered friends, all in one otterly adorable place. Thank you so much for this feedback and if there are other categories you think are missing from the site please let us know!

With how many farming, pet streams, and other animal cameras I think this would be a wonderful edition to twitch! I would love to be able to find more feel-good animal-related content. :) It could change lives, and who doesn't like watching cute animals?

@its_TDOT As far as I am aware, that is a game title that was around long before animal streams. It's tagged as action and adventure game. That's why almost no one uses it.

As someone who mods a sometimes very large Animal stream, HootHouseLiveStream, I cannot even begin to say how much this category is needed. Twitch has a very diverse user base and it's becoming more so every day. Twitch viewers want more to watch than just Gaming. Nothing against Gaming at all. I am an avid gamer and have been for over 30 years! :)
As mentioned by many previous comments, it is currently extremely difficult to find animal streams. We are spread throughout many different categories. Some type of "Animals, Farming & Wildlife" category is sorely needed here. Several HUGE streamers including Amouranth and Maya began to discover our channels several months ago and were shocked that we even existed on Twitch. With their support, many of our channels have grown tremendously since that time. New animal/nature streams are popping up regularly as interest in both streaming and viewing such streams has grown. PLEASE give us a way to better organize our unique content so that we, AND TWITCH, can continue to grow! :)

There is literally no category dedicated to Animals/Farming/Wildlife yet, which is odd because clearly an audience for this type of content exists on Twitch, in large numbers.
DashDucks/OurChickenLife, Alveus Sanctuary (Maya), MarineMammalRescue, are all examples of animal-centric streams that collectively pull in thousands of viewers. However, without a dedicated category for their content, they are forced to stream across categories such as Sci & Tech, Just Chatting, ASMR, Pools, Hot Tubs, and Beaches, etc.
Currently, the only way to currently find similar channels is through the 'Animals' tag. Even then, I see a variety of games/no actual animals flooding that tag, which makes it very hard to find content solely for viewing animals or farm/wildlife.
I feel like over the last couple of years, Twitch has done a good job at demonstrating that the platform can be used for a lot more than just gaming and chatting. By adding categories for things like Arts, Education, Music, etc, Twitch has been able to expand its outreach to hundreds of thousands of viewers.
It only benefits the platform to add a category for Animals & Farming too, because honestly who doesn't like watching animals in some capacity?
There is also an growing niche for people interested in agriculture, farming, and living off the land. A new category for Animals & Farming would cover two interests that easily a large amount of people gravitate towards.

I think this would be a great idea as putting this kind of content under just chatting is kind of false advertising as animals can't talk :(

This would be perfect! I put my channel in 'Just Chatting' as I find we don't really have a home at the moment. It's great to be part of the 'animal' team (thanks FarmerSpence!) but not everyone knows we exist or how to find the team at the moment.
